Great video as always !! I was a bit suprised about you not mentionning Varusaburosu when talking about the Red Diablos, because you also talked about Odibatorasu regarding Akantor and Ukanlos a bit earlier.
Could you imagine a survival thriller spinoff of monster hunter where the main protagonist is a wyverian survivor trying so hard to get to civilisation? The setting could introduce these unseen monsters that aren't as big a problem as main story monsters. Only s/he gets to actually see them because their stranded so deep in the middle of nowhere.
I also heard that there was a monster that was a bird wyvern with a raptorial body and apparence but is covered in feathers and looks like a Falcon (especially its head). Overall it looks like a modern depiction of a Utahraptor albeit a solitary creature roughly the size of a Qeuropeco. It could be seen as the missing link between raptorial bird wyverns and 'true' bird wyverns. Canonically i think its just an undiscovered species that is rumored but not confirmed to exist in-universe yet.
This is freaking awesome!! Personally my favorite unseen monster is the Elder Piscine monster that is in one of the earlier concept artbooks of MH. I don't know if it is exist cannonically, but the Earth dragon is also cool.
I always wanted to have a mid - late game raptor like bird wyvern and the best option for it, without coming up with something new, was Scarface (Deviljho concept art) as a Glascanon rushdown predator, that is fast and agresive, but not as agile or jumpy as Odogaron. Jumping around headfirst in to battle like a discharging Fulgur.
I wonder if there has been more lore or official art about the "Shining Blue Dragon" subspecies of Alatreon that seems to only be mentioned in it's ecology.
Yian Garuga, and Scarred Yian Garuga are probably going to be the hardest bird wyverns we get, until 6th Gen at least, as they weren't introduced until the end of Master Rank.
I love how some of frontiers' monsters and some others may have been based on some of these mythical creatures. Like how the white nargacugas could be the lucent/blinking nargacuga or how the crimson diablos could've inspired the varusaburosu
It would be so cool if you could unlock new species too fight by collecting lore pages like we do in Rise or very well hidden tracks that eventually leads to a secret arena or have a small chance to encounter it during a free roam such as The Guiding Lands mode in Iceborne.
The black Deviljho relative seems to be covered in tar instead of having its skin fall off. I think the Pokke Chief mentions Male Gammoths once saying they're too dangerous to hunt.
Ok i saw most of these and was like "Ok thats pretty neat" but when you got to the Jurassic Frontier monster i assumed you were gonna talk abkut the Shen Gaoren in the bottom of the map. But i had no idea that mystery monster in the water ever existed
The Primal Forest from MH4 has entire areas that have you fight under or around the bones of a stupidly large mountainous sized dragons which is entirely unknown as to what they were but for all I know they could be just as big or even bigger than that dead Dalamadur from the Rotten Vale. Also theres that one dead (and HUGE) fossilized dragon sticking out of a ceiling of a cave maybe the rotten vale or Hoarfrost Reach i can't remember exactly which one.
There's a comically complete and posed skeleton of an Ibushi in the volcanic caverns in Rise, if that's what you're referring to. I'd also make a few additions: The numerous giant ribcages and strange bones (excluding the obvious dalamadur skeletons) that you can find in the Rotten Vale. One or multiple diplodocid style skulls in the Rotten Vale. The giant abelisaur style skull in the lower reaches of the Jurassic Frontier. The fossilized dragon skulls in the volcano in Rise (kind of look like the dragon from the monster hunter illustrations page 84, or maybe young tigrex). The unknown skulls that hunters fashion into helmets for the bone sets. Lastly, the giant "crocodile being attacked by the plesioth in Monster Hunter Illustrations page 51. It's body is long, slender, and very flexible like a serpent; seen wrapped around the Plesioth. Its neck is also rather long for where it's forelimbs seem to be, and a slight neck ridge reminiscent of Lagiacrus's hood. It's body plan seems to be somewhere between Lagiacrus and Najarala.
The giant dead creature in the icy zone of Rise literally has the skull of a Zorah Magdaros. Also. Creatures not only have size variation in this series. But the one you fight in World is dying of old age. SO it is as big as possible.
Id love to see the thierd Deviljho relative in a game, it looks awesome and i want more higher tier brute Wyverns, or just more brute Wyverns in generall, one of the best catagorys in the series.
On that second deviljho on the bottom of its head it looks like a visible row of teeth, it could possibly split its lower jaw and that’s really cool to me
If I recall correctly, both Gobul and Dalamadur we fight in game are young ones of their species. And both go to extremely far off regions to grow massive. Gobul to the bottom of the ocean and Dalamadur far into the mountains.
Amazing video 🙌🏻 the red diablos might have been the inspiration to the burst species in frontier Varusaboros (I think that’s its name) and also another giant monster that we don’t fight is the monk snail on the frost islands in Rise
the second violent wyvern if my eyes don't deceive me which they tend to do the bottom jaw doesn't seem to be connected like a predator from avp or the hypo giga and spino concept from the Isle. now that would be a fun monster to see
14:13 Yeeeaaah!! I've been wondering about this for years!! Even got a couple friends to see this all had us scratches our heads as to if it was a creature or something inanimate! So glad you acknowledged this!!
Here in August 2024. I'm here to say that, that Sand God Wyvern might be reused and will appear in Wilds, considering the game is set in a Desert environment.
The Crimson Diablos has appeared in Frontier also, his name Varsablos.. and im pretty sure Odibatros is the red desert god. one best thing about MHF, the develop team always try to stick to the original concept.. with MHF original flagship monster Espinas has appeared on the main series, hope more to come in the future
3:12 you got a comprehensive idea that was well enough together to have at the very least, 1 illustration of it if not a really well detailed explanation might be the lore hoarder in me but i couldnt bring myself to consentingly, willingly yuck it in the trash
For real I need to see some of these in game, the crimson diablos is something I'm dying to fight and would be a excellent shoe in for a bloodbath, If they ever bring back the jarrasic frontier it would be a excellent opportunity to give us a chance to fight some of the extinct monsters we see in the famy trees, like the wyvern rex, the different colours of nargacuga is something I acutaly think could be used to help break up the monotony of farming monsters, we could take all the subspecies which are littery just colour swaps like pink Rathain and treat them like shiny pokemon where 1 in every 20 rathian we fight are pink but they still give the same materials as they wouldn't be treated as different monsters, i think it would be a great way to implement them, especially with super rare ones like blue nargacuga
Awesome video. I'd personally love if the Burst Species Varusaburosu from Frontier entered the main series (along with the other burst species, please?) as a crimson diablos.
I think the second deviljho relative doesn’t just have massive incisors I think it’s jaw is split in 3 cause you can see the a row of teeth behind the centre 2 and that goes nearly to the back of the jaw
I would like to see the Astalos Concept art used as a monster. It looks great and im sure it would be very fun to fight it could use Poison/paralysis moves and like sergios use it legs to fight
i mean a rathalos snaching its prey in the air might not be as far fetched as it sounds it may not do it to large flying monsters but it might do it on small flying monsters, well thats what i think at least .
Actually, if you look out in the sea in the frost area of monster hunter rise, you may see a jellyfish like monster walking across the water,I actually took a few pictures of it,I've genuinely never seen such a monster before but its also bio luminescent for sure And I've seen many out of bounds monsters perhaps there is one or two unknown monsters out of bounds in each map
Oh i didnt knew about the jurassic frontier forest monste! ive never go back from there, so didnt saw it till now. i think a future game that could be a better selling bomb than world would be one with a huge amount of ecology to do. similar to world or rise, but with many minor or less threatening monsters in the area that you could just watch. imagine a map were you can see form above a huge group of female mizutsune on a beach or a lake like if they were seals.
12:00 If we took Frontier as canon (Considering you mentioned it in the video, lol), i think Red Diablos could've been an ancient generation of Diablos with that coloration, who would eventually move to a volcanic area and develop into Varusaburosu. It would fit the Burst Species' lore because it's said that it comes from a species related to Diablos that formerly lived in the desert but moved to the volcano. Maybe the Red Diablos' size requiring high amounts of food got them stuck into a cycle of being too starved to fight for it. The volcano cactus might've had little to no competition for it as food, and could've given the Red Diablos enough nutrients to guarantee they survival long enough to properly evolve into a smaller size and adapt to the catus' effects.
For the record, Ukanlos does have vestigial wing stumps. Also, in terms of the White Nargacuga, you forgot about the rare species. Third thing, the background lore of Odibaterasu and Ahtal-Ka complement eachother so well that I think it's safe to call the big tortoise unoffically canon and that the two share a predator-prey relationship.
I think the Dalamadur in the Rotten Vale from MHWorld also counts. It’s far bigger than the one that is fought in 4U, leading many to speculate if it was a juvenile, but it’s never fought or seen.
Rather than (or in addition) to the sagging skin of the third violent wyvern being due to overexposure to dragon element, it could also be a part of that wyvern's defense? A soft and loose armor with maybe some fatty padding would also protect the muscles and other organs. Or maybe its skin comes off entirely as a defense! Like how some lizards lose their tails or how that one gecko loses its scales (Geckolepis megalepis). Its a neat design to speculate on
13:56 actually in monster hunter rise. If you go on top of the wrecked ship in the frost islands you’ll sometimes be able to see a giant snail moving in the distance.
My headcannon is that the Unknown Mountain Dragon hunted monksnails. And now that it is dead we get too see how gigantic the monksnails can get. Allot like how lobsters just eat and grow bigger and bigger, with the only thing stopping them being the shedding of their shell, monksnails would just grow and grow until it gets eaten.
I like to image the monster bones in Rise is something similar to that of Jhen Mohran but an Ice version. Considering you fight that on a ship and in the last part of the fight the ship is stationary, could very well be where their final moments ended. Also regarding the "Nessie" one. There's a monster in rise that you see in the background of the Ice area that you can see moving but can't interact with. The eagle Wyvern could also be the seregios. Similar in body shape, and it even gives Rathalos a run for his money in one of the cutscenes.
I don't think the unknown moutain dragon is a frosty Lao shan ling I think it's a frost varient of a Zora because of how it's skull is shaped and considering that we could fit a small zone on the skeleton of the unknown moutain dragon it may be a smaller Zora that produces frost instead of fire
I'm pretty sure the Frost Islands skeleton is just supposed to be a Zorah, the skull is identical as far as I can tell, and you could explain the slightly smaller size away as it being a juvenile. Heck, it's entirely possible that this is just the standard size of a Zorah, since the one we see in World is a particularly old individual, mere hours or even minutes from dying of natural causes. That being said the elongated ribcage does trip that theory up a bit, perhaps it's a polar subspecies of Zorah Magdaros that has a more Lao-esque body plan. Maybe this subspecies would make it's shell out of ice sheets rather than volcanic rock, that would explain why there's seemingly no evidence of it's shell anywhere.
Best thing about Monsters in MH franchise is they behave totally similar to creatures in the real world. That they are constantly evolving depending on their environment and its ecology. Most of the time it just makes sense and feels really natural.
he forgot to mention the adult gobul, all gobul you fight in MH3 and MH3U are juveniles, according to the Hunter's Encyclopedia Volume 3. i hope in a future game with underwater combat we get to fight the massive ocean dwelling adult gobul.
Your content has always been great and it fun to listen to. And its been helpful in writing for some new elements with my story. Don't know if you'll read it though. Side note: The big eagle fighting Rathalos could be just another flying wyvern. Possibly based on the Roc. It would fit the phylogeny
If we want to talk about classification issues, look at Diablos lol "Flying Wyvern", but never flies unless popping out of a pitfall. The entirety of the monster is baked around Brute Wyvern antics so it's not surprise that Ukanlos and Akantor would be classified oddly as such too.

10:35 im sorry that voice crack got me
I also heard that there was a monster that was a bird wyvern with a raptorial body and apparence but is covered in feathers and looks like a Falcon (especially its head).
I don't know if it is exist cannonically, but the Earth dragon is also cool.
its funny, I have played like 400 hours of rise, and never once did i ever question the GIANT DRAGON BONES in the ice area lol
Yess we need more late game bird wyvern or late game raptor
Hope 6th gen brings in Toridcless.
@@Sing_LoveWRS it's not confirmed or likely at all but damn do I want to fight that thing in a modern game
5:55 this is like the new Rompopolo from MH Wilds, at least in the esthetic.
I love how some of frontiers' monsters and some others may have been based on some of these mythical creatures. Like how the white nargacugas could be the lucent/blinking nargacuga or how the crimson diablos could've inspired the varusaburosu
The dragon skeleton in the Frost Islands is a Zorah Magdoros
Did you know that if you exhaust the Grammowster chef's dialog in Seliyana, she mentions the commander and admiral meeting a BLACK MONSTER.
There’s also the Jungle Gharial, a species of crocodile shown being hunted by a Plesioth in the art book
13:03 its a zorah magdaros look at the horns
Ok i saw most of these and was like "Ok thats pretty neat" but when you got to the Jurassic Frontier monster i assumed you were gonna talk abkut the Shen Gaoren in the bottom of the map. But i had no idea that mystery monster in the water ever existed
Didn't Capcom say that the skull was literally a Zorah Magdaros tho
The Primal Forest from MH4 has entire areas that have you fight under or around the bones of a stupidly large mountainous sized dragons which is entirely unknown as to what they were but for all I know they could be just as big or even bigger than that dead Dalamadur from the Rotten Vale.
Also theres that one dead (and HUGE) fossilized dragon sticking out of a ceiling of a cave maybe the rotten vale or Hoarfrost Reach i can't remember exactly which one.
Yeah, I love how you can see that skeleton in the Primal Forest across several zones
There's a comically complete and posed skeleton of an Ibushi in the volcanic caverns in Rise, if that's what you're referring to.
I'd also make a few additions:
The numerous giant ribcages and strange bones (excluding the obvious dalamadur skeletons) that you can find in the Rotten Vale.
You should do a part 2 this video was very intriguing.
Id love to see the thierd Deviljho relative in a game, it looks awesome and i want more higher tier brute Wyverns, or just more brute Wyverns in generall, one of the best catagorys in the series.
i want all the jho offshoots in a game
On that second deviljho on the bottom of its head it looks like a visible row of teeth, it could possibly split its lower jaw and that’s really cool to me
Getting a giant high tier Eagle Wyvern would be amazing
If I recall correctly, both Gobul and Dalamadur we fight in game are young ones of their species. And both go to extremely far off regions to grow massive. Gobul to the bottom of the ocean and Dalamadur far into the mountains.
We see a mature sala in 4u
Dala
@@christianlaguna9520 I believe that is not a fully grown one? My memory is fuzzy but I think it’s still growing.
Great game man!, and also the unknown leviathan monster looks like a mix between a niblesnarf, and lagiacrus
Amazing video 🙌🏻 the red diablos might have been the inspiration to the burst species in frontier Varusaboros (I think that’s its name) and also another giant monster that we don’t fight is the monk snail on the frost islands in Rise
I dont think I ever saw anyone cover some of these monster before. Great video my dude
the second violent wyvern if my eyes don't deceive me which they tend to do the bottom jaw doesn't seem to be connected like a predator from avp or the hypo giga and spino concept from the Isle. now that would be a fun monster to see
14:13 Yeeeaaah!! I've been wondering about this for years!! Even got a couple friends to see this all had us scratches our heads as to if it was a creature or something inanimate! So glad you acknowledged this!!
Another example is Adult Gobul, the ones we fight are juveniles while the adults are found in the deep sea.
Also ircc Abiorugu and Giaorugu from Frontier are implied to be relatives of Deviljho albeit not nearly as strong as the brutish pickle.
3:12 you got a comprehensive idea that was well enough together to have at the very least, 1 illustration of it if not a really well detailed explanation
might be the lore hoarder in me but i couldnt bring myself to consentingly, willingly yuck it in the trash
Yes! Soooo overdue in giving us an awesome bird wyvern. There are so many references to pick from, and I know they could do it justice 🥰
13:37 that skull looks more like it belongs to Zora than lao
For real I need to see some of these in game, the crimson diablos is something I'm dying to fight and would be a excellent shoe in for a bloodbath,
If they ever bring back the jarrasic frontier it would be a excellent opportunity to give us a chance to fight some of the extinct monsters we see in the famy trees, like the wyvern rex,
the different colours of nargacuga is something I acutaly think could be used to help break up the monotony of farming monsters, we could take all the subspecies which are littery just colour swaps like pink Rathain and treat them like shiny pokemon where 1 in every 20 rathian we fight are pink but they still give the same materials as they wouldn't be treated as different monsters, i think it would be a great way to implement them, especially with super rare ones like blue nargacuga
Awesome video. I'd personally love if the Burst Species Varusaburosu from Frontier entered the main series (along with the other burst species, please?) as a crimson diablos.
Speaking of high tier bird wyvern, i wonder why they havent done a Phoenix yet. That’d be an easy high ranker imo.
I would LOVE to see the deviljho-like creature come to life! it’s a perfect mix of menacing and mysterious. A very threatening pickle
I think the second deviljho relative doesn’t just have massive incisors I think it’s jaw is split in 3 cause you can see the a row of teeth behind the centre 2 and that goes nearly to the back of the jaw
10:36 that voice crack tho
15:26 For the bird wyverns, Capcom has released an older version of Monster Hunter called Hypnocatrice
10:36 voice crack
Hopefully we'll see some of these desert monsters in MH Wilds
I would like to see the Astalos Concept art used as a monster. It looks great and im sure it would be very fun to fight
it could use Poison/paralysis moves and like sergios use it legs to fight
I love watching and listening to your videos. Legit story or not it's all entertaining. Especially the World and Crimson Diablos.
Giant eagle or parrot would be interesting addition.
i mean a rathalos snaching its prey in the air might not be as far fetched as it sounds it may not do it to large flying monsters but it might do it on small flying monsters, well thats what i think at least .
That doesn't count since it's not really unknown, it has a hunter's journal entry and everything.
Its named Monksnail (i got it from other comment) , u can search there are videos showing it😁
13:43
I think that's just an aquatic Sub specie of the nibblesnarf
In other franchise, they introduced the Lucent Nargacuga, a very speciaal hunter permit must be obtained before they hunt a specific monster
I would kill if you made an ecology video on Spore Hero
Always excited to see new content 🙏 another banger video fr king
For the record, Ukanlos does have vestigial wing stumps. Also, in terms of the White Nargacuga, you forgot about the rare species. Third thing, the background lore of Odibaterasu and Ahtal-Ka complement eachother so well that I think it's safe to call the big tortoise unoffically canon and that the two share a predator-prey relationship.
we might get a introduction on Eagle bird-like wyverns in Wilds
since it'd fit the settings
Its a neat design to speculate on
I like to imagine that the third Deviljho ate and grew so fast its skin is tearing off
13:56 actually in monster hunter rise. If you go on top of the wrecked ship in the frost islands you’ll sometimes be able to see a giant snail moving in the distance.
We actually know what that is! Its called a Monksnail and has an official Hunter's Notes entry! You can even get it as a plushie hat armor :3
Wave to it, it’s a friend.
Is it the Wings of Ruin Rathalos from MH Stories 2?
Perhaps the "red Diablos" was in fact a Varusaburosu
Perhaps the Jurassic Frontier lake monster is a naked Nakarkos observing the incoming hunters?
11- the misterious skull shogun uses sometimes
Just like Odibatorasu being the Red God of the Desert. Couldn't Varusaburosu be the crimson diablos? I mean its literally a crimson-coloured Diablos.
this!
Its a juvenile Zora
I like to image the monster bones in Rise is something similar to that of Jhen Mohran but an Ice version. Considering you fight that on a ship and in the last part of the fight the ship is stationary, could very well be where their final moments ended.
Also regarding the "Nessie" one. There's a monster in rise that you see in the background of the Ice area that you can see moving but can't interact with.
The eagle Wyvern could also be the seregios. Similar in body shape, and it even gives Rathalos a run for his money in one of the cutscenes.
Fun fact , the skull in manelger's lab in monster hunter stories 1 is Spinas
I don't think the unknown moutain dragon is a frosty Lao shan ling I think it's a frost varient of a Zora because of how it's skull is shaped and considering that we could fit a small zone on the skeleton of the unknown moutain dragon it may be a smaller Zora that produces frost instead of fire
Love your content man!😊😊🎉🎉
I'm pretty sure the Frost Islands skeleton is just supposed to be a Zorah, the skull is identical as far as I can tell, and you could explain the slightly smaller size away as it being a juvenile.
Akantor and Ukanlos desert relative might be in Monster Hunter Wilds so we might see the idea being relized eventually
This is fascinating, subbed!
8:38 that gammoth ecology is so cute
If we want to talk about classification issues, look at Diablos lol "Flying Wyvern", but never flies unless popping out of a pitfall. The entirety of the monster is baked around Brute Wyvern antics so it's not surprise that Ukanlos and Akantor would be classified oddly as such too.
You should do more these. There more stuff like extinct wyverns and stuff like the gaia dragon
