In my opinion, bands like this one or like The White Stripes understimate the value of the bass, so whenever I hear them i couldn't stop thinking what the bass would have done and how much blank spaces are because of that.
While I really do appreciate a good bass, there are some bands which don't require them and Deap Vally are certainly one of those. Try Royal Blood, they don't seem to believe in any guitar with more than 4 strings.
I'm a bass player myself and listen to maaany bands who don't have a bass player who sound just fine without one. Try Money & The Man, Blood Red Shoes and Oblivians.
Didn't you watch the video? They had a close friend playing bass when they first formed the band, but she got too busy to jam with them so they moved forward with just the 2 of them.

Being a feminist isn't about having kids or being married. It's about empowering a woman that she can do whatever she sets her mind to and that we are equal, not lesser gender. We don't NEED kids or marriage to be happy. ANYONE can find happiness on their own path in life. It's not warping anyone's minds. But if the idea of a woman being equal and choosing what she wants to do with her life bothers you, YOU have the problem, not the woman trying to live her life happily.

They had a bass player. Watch some older live clips from a few years back. The bass didn't add much at all. Those "blank spaces" are intentional.
