It only goes to tier seven no CV class but the CVS are freaking annoying so that's that's a plus especially if you're in a DD but I think there's at least one or two radar cruisers in the American line as well maybe not I don't know haven't played the game I only got the PC version but I want the console version

Sure but if your team is worth a shit and you are smart about it, you can use it to your advantage. Many-a-destroyer have fell to my New Mexico and Colorado thinking they would catch me off guard and torp me from point blank.
Fun Fact: Did you know that when the USS IOWA was recommissioned in the 1980s, even thou we had modern computers the left the existing systems in place. That's how accurate the Iowas gun systems were during WW2
It's also the reason they were taken out of service again. Not the ammo, though getting fresh batches of that would be a challenge. But the Iowas' complex fire-control systems, old-school technology now used by nothing else, and that requires an entire branch of unique specialists to keep running. THAT was why.
Really nice game you've had there, a BB played to her strengths. A lot of people seem to not recognize that a BB's dispersion gets better the closer you get to the target. Having said that, there is a fine line though between pushing to the right distance and overextending to the point you can't recover. On the New Orleans shot, if you check the smoke from the smoke stacks just as you are about to shoot you can see he is beginning to change from reversing to heading forwards. Once you're shells got there he would therefore have moved on form where your shells landed. I enjoyed the Iowa (PC player here) but I love the Montana, it's my favorite T10 BB, hopefully it'll find it's way into the console version sometime soon.
Nice work, Spartan. That New Orleans should have been sunk but RNG gave you the short end of the stick; that's why I wish they'd scale it back because it allows players to get away with doing things like giving broadsides to BBs.
fun fact, the iowa class battleships were classified as fast battleships. The US needed fast battleships to keep pace with Japanese kango class battlecruisers.
Our "fast battleships" were built to run with the fast carrier task forces. They weren't made to keep pace with the Kongo class, the Iowa's were designed to OUT class them.
I only have up to tier 4s but I have a tier 4 for every line. The ship I really want is the Vanguard. When I get her I’m making a speed build with improved secondary guns. However, my best games were in the American and Japenese destroyers
Hey brother, good match. Try to work with your aim indicators. Remember, citadels are going to be about water level and halfway down the ship for the most part. Essentially, you overpenetrated that New Orleans and that’s why he survived lol. Give effective lead and you’ll crush it
first game i played with the iowa, i had a really good game ( in my standards), but after that i began getting bad games where the ship expense was more than what i earned from the match.
Love the Iowa, she was my first T7. I highly recommend British T7 Destroyer Lightning. Almost have all the T7 ships - Amagi/vanguard. So far lightning and Iowa are the most fun to play. Congrats on kraken, its more difficult to get on console than PC. You have to kill more than half the enemy team in less time +less potential targets overall.
Great game. Played BB to perfection. Most eejits camp too far out in them or run away. I love the bad ones when I’m in my fully UG’d lightning. You need one of them in your life. It’s a real animal.

I play world of warships on pc and I am working toward the iawa and for historical context the iawa class battleships are a fantastic class of warships I mean they saw action in ww2 karea Vietnam and the gulf war being retired in 1992 also the main armament of the iawa class consisted of nine 406mm =16" 50 caliber mark 7 guns in 3 turrets and the iawa class had a top speed of 33 knots 35 knots under light loud but I mean feel free to correct me if i missed anything.

Congrats on getting the Iowa! I'm stuck at New York right now. Is it just me or is this ship a glass cannon? I've got her rigged for accuracy, and put a lot of shots on target, but can't seem to be able to dish out any real damage. The enemy team has no such problem, as it seems like every shot that hits NY is a citadel. If I can ever get the xp with this ship, I hope New Mexico is better.
Wow, ONLY 17.5 km range on Iowa?! And I thought WOWS PC was range constrained with Battleships topping out around 24 km range (without a spotter plane - which most T8+ BBs have access to, with some can reach as far as 32 km) - because, again, in REAL life, if a fleet was aware of the other, they would start to open fire at around 35 km with Battleships, hell some Cruisers could reach out to 20+ km, notably the Soviet Chapeyev and Sverdlov LIGHT Cruisers which had 152mm guns that have as much as 950 meter/sec muzzle velocity, IRL could reach out and touch someone as far as 30.2 km away according to Navweaps! And most late war Battleship Caliber guns (early war could not elevate enough to gemt range) could throw shells 40+ km down range! Navweaps is GREAT! And it is Indeed what WG uses to base a LOT of gun specs on! Though they are off in some cases, like Iowa/Montana on PC, but then again, of the 12 gun Monty had the sort of pen power that it really had, it would be OP.
I think the reason you didn’t delete the New Orleans is because your guns were so powerful it over penetrated the armor and didn’t ignite within the citadel! You may know this but just in case! 👍🏻😂

How do you get your traverse speed so fast and dispersion so low? feel like my guns get stuck a lot, and are extremely slow, and the shells go basically everywhere. I am still lower tier, only at the Phoenix atm but it just seems you've always have great shots.... is it the commanders?
I use the Commander William SImms he has lots of boosts to dispersion. I also use Andrew Cunningham as my inspiration which also grants boost to dispersion. Then the Iowa is a tier 7 which allows you to equip artillery Targeting or something which is equipment. Grants a bonus 11% to dispersion.

Looks better than I expected on console! Still not up to full on PC level, but close enough and actually seems to run at 60 fps! Still a bit puzzled that Tier 7 is top, for now, and Iowa sits at tier 7, on PC she's at tier 9. Does Yamato exist in thid game at tier 7? If not, so... will tier 8 = tier 10 on PC? Will they bring Tier 8+ to WOWS Legends? Or is Legends only going to stick to classes that actually were built and fought? Yamato & Musashi fought, and in REAL life they were roughly a match for the Iowa class. In WOWS PC, Yamato is far better than Iowa, and at times still far better than the PLANNED 12 406mm Super Heavy Gun Iowa known as the Montana class - which is more of a match for Yamato, but Yamato can overmatch nose armor on ANY ship and hit those citadels even when stuck nose in against it - I mean it has to be lucky to citadel any BB through the nose due to heavy Athwartship armor, and hard to hit most Cruiser citadels due to small size and/or decent/troll armor scheme. Anyway Overmatch did not exist in real life the way it does in WOWS, also IRL Plunging fire damage was far more effective. Which is why USN favors SLOW Heavy shells, because IRL they could easily smash through Yamato's Deck armor at normal combat ranges. Of course WOWS is an "Arcade Style" game which I actually prefer, still - if they are gonna have this Overmatch mechanic that gives any gun of 458+ mm a significant advantage (WG stated that no ship apart from Yamato and Musashi would ever have guns larger than 457mm, which is enough to overmatch 31mm of armor or less, but not the 32mm plating all other T8+ BBs have on their nose and stern!) - I figure Plunging fire mechanics should work better. As it stands, Montana has the LOWEST side armor penetration of ALL Tier 10 BBs in WOWS PC, by a significant margina! In REAL life, her side plate pen was literally within 20 to 30mm of Yamato's at any given point! And deck armor pen was roughly equal too. But in game, Yamato has best pen, apart from the Soviets they are adding (cough paper ships with paper gun cough cough) I don't mind paper ships being added as long as OGs like Montana are remembered and kept in the meta!

I have been playing pc for 3 years and it still hasn't gotten old, We are doing Russian BB, s you have so many ships coming to console I envy you console players.
I'm only following due to different graphics and they put a lot of detail into it, I run my game in ultra graphic mode which looks phenomenal. And I'm glad to see Wow growing.
I am a veteran of the Uss Iowa, I served as a gunners mate in 16-inch turret one. I just transitioned from the PC to WOWS Legends. I am still at T-3.

I take every new ship I get into bot games to see which shell type is best and to find the sweet spot on enemy ships.

My Iowa wasn't fully upgraded. Now I have the extra range and can fire like 19.4 km

I haven't gone up the line on console to get Iowa yet. All I have so far are Mogami, and Fletcher. Amagi is unlocked, but funds are lacking.

Possibly, i would check his US Commanders Guide, not sure which one he uses though.

Atleast shells landing short and broadside cruiser overpens have been a thing for atleast 3 years.....its NOT a bug....its a feature.
Dude in the Iowa when a battle ship is broadside I usually expect for half their health or 2/3 of their health to go down

Anyway Overmatch did not exist in real life the way it does in WOWS, also IRL Plunging fire damage was far more effective. Which is why USN favors SLOW Heavy shells, because IRL they could easily smash through Yamato's Deck armor at normal combat ranges.
Of course WOWS is an "Arcade Style" game which I actually prefer, still - if they are gonna have this Overmatch mechanic that gives any gun of 458+ mm a significant advantage (WG stated that no ship apart from Yamato and Musashi would ever have guns larger than 457mm, which is enough to overmatch 31mm of armor or less, but not the 32mm plating all other T8+ BBs have on their nose and stern!) - I figure Plunging fire mechanics should work better.
As it stands, Montana has the LOWEST side armor penetration of ALL Tier 10 BBs in WOWS PC, by a significant margina! In REAL life, her side plate pen was literally within 20 to 30mm of Yamato's at any given point! And deck armor pen was roughly equal too. But in game, Yamato has best pen, apart from the Soviets they are adding (cough paper ships with paper gun cough cough)
I don't mind paper ships being added as long as OGs like Montana are remembered and kept in the meta!

I do 150k damage every third game in my New Mexico at teir 5. Those 406mm guns are fucking ruthless, but sometimes RNG fucks you. Right in the ass too

Actually the Colorado is pretty good. That bing said you could use elite xp to boost past it just don't buy it

They must have done something to the Iowa cause I went solo with no commanders nor boosters but I got no damage like that and barely any penetration.
