Being patient is probably the hardest thing to master in this game. Everything (and sometimes everyone) screams to go in and do as much damage as possible. Definitely need a cruiser video like this.
When your aiming (for lack of a better term in "sniper mode" or "zoomed in" if you like) at a ship and having a hard time determining their speed or direction, de-select them (while still zoomed in) and you will have a much better idea of their speed. This especially helps on the long distance shooting. The tracking that takes place while you have the ship selected/highlighted really makes it difficult to judge how much lead to give them occasionally. Really enjoying the videos!
Gotta say that your tips have been helping me a lot when using BBs on this game. I still wasn't able to get the 150k challenge for the Atlanta but I got a lot closer than I was before. Thanks for sharing!
6:40 - "I am the only ship capable - in my mind, you know - I never count on my teammates on any multiplayer online game." This is pure gospel. I tell players the same thing - be prepared to win the game single-handedly, because odds are you'll have to.
I do think some of the maps need to be bigger and the range extended of the battleships, especially the lower tier. Because if you don't go into reverse on a map like this and go forward, once your spotted you'll get hammered by half the enemy fleet.
I'm finding this game to be even more frustrating that tanks. Had a match where I had 72 target hits, but only 14k damage! It was in a cruiser with a combination of AP and HE fired. I would really like to see much more information presented in the battle results screen.
There's a lot of information missing from your post. First of all what Tier ship do you have? Lower Tier ships have smaller HP pools and overall ships deal less damage in Low Tier games so that could explain a Lower total damage. Additionally, I don't know your skill level. If you're a Cruiser captain and you're firing AP, that should only be reserved for shooting at other cruisers at mid-short range or *rarely* Battleships at short rage, and only if they're broadside on. Beyond that your bread and butter is killing destroyers and getting Fire damage with HE. And ensure to spread your hits along the length of any ship that is your target to set multiple fires.
Well that's literally just down to you using the wrong ammunition type and shooting it at the wrong targets. This game is nothing like World of Tanks in terms of everything bouncing shots at certain angles. You can damage pretty much every ship type on this game as long as you use the appropriate ammunition type. Your comment suggests you weren't.
Starting around tier 6, all BBs have armor that most light cruisers can't penetrate with HE. They usually have 152 mm guns or smaller and can only penetrate the superstructure. Only cruisers with 153 mm guns or bigger can score penetrations on BBs everywhere except the midsection.
Not sure if youre still having problems with this, but, you can head over to the WOW youtube channel and watch in depth vids on how Armor, Shells etc all work.

My best citadel shots have been with the black fleet Scharnhorst. Is this the best strategy with slower battleships? Should I also play more aggressively with german fast battleships like the Geisenau, Scharnhorst, and Bismarck, or use the same strategy like you used with the Iowa in this video?

The thing i find most frustrating is when all the cruisers in the team go after the biggest target instead of helping protect the battleships from destroyers, as a result i run the Scarnhorst 99% of the time now cause at least it can deal with nilly anything pretty easy if its used right.
I know how you feel. Besides historically smaller vessels were designed and tasked to protect the larger capital vessels such as battleships and carriers
Hey spartan i got my nagato and its extremely better than the fuso and i didnt have the dispersion problem that u was having. I wasnt looking forward to it after u posted ur video but hands on it plays just like the fuso but better pens and damage.
GG and cheers for the vid. I use the same reverse plan. Love Iowa, although she looks like a fruit basket. Only playing Battlships and heavy cruisers, not even trying others yet. Reversing at the start reminds me of F troop when Parmenter calls for retreat but sneezes attack. Quite often you hear the retreat command as well which gives me a chuckle. One thing to watch in tier 7 or at least with Iowa is $. I think you need at least the 72k damage your ship carries to make silver. If you check your $ balance before the battle it never balances with the earned $ awarded. They should show you the service fee at the end of the battle like tanks. First time I took her out I got 50 odd thousand damage was awarded about 120,000 credits but once in port could see I actually lost $. Atlanta on the other hand is a great earner even with a crap game. Have not got many upgrades in Iowa yet but had a decent 120k game in a loss last night. So far I agree with you on the Brit Battlships, I have had some good games but meh. I do Ok in the Fuso though, I think has the best range of the tier 5s. Peas love and many citidels, Johnno Bloke.
Problem with using the Iowa as the "How too BB" it's got too much range & armor, so the play style is much different then if you used a lower teir BB to explain tactic. If this was "How to BB in an Iowa" it would be much better since only the Amagi has simular range and would use those Same tactics.
It really doesn't have more armor than other BBs it is just a narrower profile than they are. The tips talked about in this video will help regardless of what you play.
Now i understand why i broadside always my battleship and dying always...that's why they flank straight until i reload, for them to attack broadside until i get destroyed pretty quickly.

The best tier 4 battleship has to be the new Russian battleship Pyotr Velikiy. Be careful with your broadside and save you damage controls but the things a beast

And it’s always good to know that you need to adjust for every turret in the rear of your ship! Why? Because the rear turrets shot forward at a different angle and the forward turrets shot farther back. Great video, but I disagree with some portions. While the dispersion of your shot is RNG, even if you aim well there is a chance you won't get a good hit, aiming is not RNG. I noticed for most of your shots on the broadside Colorado you were heavily over-leading. Your two mil standard isn't too horrible of an idea, but it doesn't apply to all ranges, as you also hit behind the 18km Iowa because of it. Flexibility is what will keep you alive most in this game, and being inflexible with your aiming will provide much worse games than you could have possibly had. The angling was great though, I'm glad to see you only using the rear turret if you're absolutely sure you will sink the ship with the first salvo you fire. I'd say adjust your two mil aiming standards, and you'll see some major improvements in games to come. (I realize this video is over a year old, I'm just sharing what I know.) Otherwise, great video and happy sailing.
I have an Elgato 4k60 pro capture card that the folks of this channel helped me get. I bought a new PC with tax money but still can't quite record and edit full 4k but I am able to do 1440p 60
I play with Wyoming, just got it. The guns take like 20 seconds to turn and by the time my guns are reloaded, someone already took out my target. Goes super slow. I don't know if i'm bad or just unlucky

I usually play second line in battleship a bit far behind but still in range to hit the cruisers and destroyers to support our own cruisers and destroyers, then I just sail around and try to get in close to brawl with low health ships or stay as far away and dodge shots at long range with mostly battleships with more health while still being able to shoot them.

Hey Spartan I’ve gotten to a point in the game where it is really hard to earn credits. I have some tier 7 ships so the repair cost is very costly and now I barely profit or even lose credits after battles do you have any tips to help earn more credits?
Hi...i was in the same boat as you (excuse the pun) but was lucky enough to get the Atlanta premium and that's a great ship to earn the money for my higher tire ships...but you might have to sacrifice one of your higher tire ships and get a lower tire ship, say a 4 or 5 tire to earn the money for repairs on the higher tire's you have at present.
I personally prefer the dispersion build as it isn't as situational, but secondary builds are really nice for those sneaky DDs that aren't use to seeing them can be absolutely devastating
The problem here was under leading shots and aiming too low when firing at broadsides of enemies leading most of the shots into the water before they hit
Good vid but I have been playing this game when it came out on PC and then I got it for the PS4 and in one game with my Iowa on the PS4 I did 226,894 damage and I sunk 5 ships and got 11 citadels so I didn’t need tips but good vid and I was just interested

as a new player I try to play like this but the Tier 3/4 Battleships are so innacruate... the spread on the salvos is so bad i just get torched by cruisers who get to lob never ending HE..
I'm starting to REALLY HATE this game. They make you pay for everything, and I ALWAYS DIE WITHIN 5 MINS because you dont have allies. You have everyone out for themselves. When I'm a destroyer I have BB killing me from all angles. When I'm a BB I have 5 Destroyers swarming me. Team work doesnt exist. They need to bring Carriers so it forces people to work as a team

I played an incredible game with a tier 4 Emile bertin and still lost. It’s just something you can expect to run into in this game

I'm good against AI, real people are a little more tricky cause they arnt as predictable as AI

I have played British BBs to the Vanguard. Including the BC HMS Hood, i havent touched HE as grind, for any ship BUT the KGV.

Lightning and cassock class ships are capable of 98 concealment which is fantastic for stealth torping!

I usually play second line in battleship a bit far behind but still in range to hit the cruisers and destroyers to support our own cruisers and destroyers, then I just sail around and try to get in close to brawl with low health ships or stay as far away and dodge shots at long range with mostly battleships with more health while still being able to shoot them.

Hey Spartan I’ve gotten to a point in the game where it is really hard to earn credits. I have some tier 7 ships so the repair cost is very costly and now I barely profit or even lose credits after battles do you have any tips to help earn more credits?
Hi...i was in the same boat as you (excuse the pun) but was lucky enough to get the Atlanta premium and that's a great ship to earn the money for my higher tire ships...but you might have to sacrifice one of your higher tire ships and get a lower tire ship, say a 4 or 5 tire to earn the money for repairs on the higher tire's you have at present.
Tip 1. Buy $100 work of credits, problem solved
I started playing more patiently and saving myself longer in matches and that has worked for me so far
I dont have the repair option on my ships does this only affect level 6 or 7 ships i got only the fuso so far but i haven't seen a repair feature????
Lieutenant DaN All ships have it but lower tiers are cheaper so you don’t really notice it unless you don’t have enough credits to pay for it

I personally prefer the dispersion build as it isn't as situational, but secondary builds are really nice for those sneaky DDs that aren't use to seeing them can be absolutely devastating

The problem here was under leading shots and aiming too low when firing at broadsides of enemies leading most of the shots into the water before they hit

Good vid but I have been playing this game when it came out on PC and then I got it for the PS4 and in one game with my Iowa on the PS4 I did 226,894 damage and I sunk 5 ships and got 11 citadels so I didn’t need tips but good vid and I was just interested
I mean it does say tips for "New" Battleship Captains.

as a new player I try to play like this but the Tier 3/4 Battleships are so innacruate... the spread on the salvos is so bad i just get torched by cruisers who get to lob never ending HE..
How did you get people to scout four you, when i play everyone runs away to the ends of the map or hide behind islands,

I'm starting to REALLY HATE this game.
They make you pay for everything, and I ALWAYS DIE WITHIN 5 MINS because you dont have allies. You have everyone out for themselves.
When I'm a destroyer I have BB killing me from all angles. When I'm a BB I have 5 Destroyers swarming me.
Team work doesnt exist. They need to bring Carriers so it forces people to work as a team

In the PC version of World of Warships British Battleships have crappy AP but amazing HE fire starting capabilities.

Yes it is on xbox. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling

Destroyers are a main line you just unlock and purchase Aircraft Carriers aren't in the game yet
i m playing the android beta and i cant get good shots from battleships....either falls short, over or does no damage even to a broadside target
