The pipe I have is double wall. The reason I can grab it is because I have the stove throttled down. If I were to increase the feed speed, I could not touch the pipe for very long as it would be too hot. If you are able to fine tune your stove and have it run constant instead of cycling on/off, it is much more efficient and less wear on the unit. It was 5 degrees that morning and 27 degrees that afternoon when I shot this video. The stove was running constant at a low feed and was able to keep my house at an even 72-73 degrees.
