She was great as the mom on that show! I loved "You Can't Do That On Television" so much as a kid! One of the best shows that Nickelodeon ever aired,too!

This wonderful woman was an icon of my childhood (I'm in the US; Wisconsin, to be specific). So glad I was feeling nostalgic this morning and came across this interview: she's absolutely stunning! But even dressed as dowdy as the Mother, she'll always hold a special place in the hearts of the kids that grew up with her and the rest of the YCDTOTV cast!
Watched that show and loved it! She was hilarious as Mom and the librarian!! She looks great here!! I LOVE her hair!! Her interview here is down to earth and insightful.

Loved her, she and Les Lye were hilarious and very underrated character actors. Hell, I'm watching a rerun of YCDTONTV right now lol.

My favorite childhood show and still to this day I get the same enjoyment now in my mid 40s! NEVER gets old!! There used to be so many more videos on youtube now you're really lucky to find something great, and in minutes screw secs. Take me back to the 80s!!!!!!!
I miss my childhood in the 80s and early 90s. You Can't Do That On Television was def a memorable part of my childhood. I had the biggest crush on Moose

I loved her as Valerie on YCDTOT as the clueless mother, especially in one scene where she put youth cream on her face twice & she turned into a baby & Alanis had to burp her
Actually, Abby Hagyard was slimed TWICE on YCDTOTV, but technically, she's right, her character MOM (Valerie) only got slimed once. The other incident when she was slimed was when she was playing another character, which I'm unsure who it was. I think she played some kind of germaphobic/OCD lady.
Yep, I remember that episode. I think the MOM character was slimed toward the end of the series as the new kids were there. Valerie was slimed in the kitchen when she was giving one of the kids a paddling. She also was slimed as the OCD lady I think a season or two prior to that. She was never slimed in the original crew

Abby is mistaken here - she was actually slimed twice. Once as the mother in the “Age” episode, and once as a member of the Senate's Committee to Clean Television in the “Cleanliness” episode. Although during this interview, I still cringed when Abby said “I don’t know” because I was anticipating the green slime from above 🧑🏻🎤

I fucking loved that show when I was a kid, even though I only saw like five episodes...
I was a sheltered child.
I was an adult and I loved this show. My nephews and nieces were not allowed to watch, I was told, because the parents thought that it was too disrespectful for children to speak that way. Ironically, along came the Simpsons and totally blew that argument apart as they became the new villains, so to speak. The slime became a high point in the show that we waited in anticipation to see. It was funny, IMO.
YOU THINK YCDTOT WOULD AIR TODAY? I don't. Sad what kids are missing due to this PC era.
