From there, we're off to a "sweet" start as we roll up our sleeves to go "back in time" and straight into the story behind Burke's Bakery, a 5th generation family-run bakery where time, tradition and that one-of-a-kind scratch-bakery taste stand still. Finally, we meet up at The Hub with a local Danville business leader for a historic tour of Main Street and a glimpse into how Danville is blending the past with the present and future to preserve its small town treasures for future generations to enjoy.

Great video. I grew up in Danville and boy do I miss Burke's. It's a stop every time I go home. Their cake icing is still the best I have ever had.

I live in Danville and oh how I miss that big beautiful fountain at Weiseiger Park at the courthouse. They took it out and replaced it with a little dinky one. Fun fact: Danville was the first capital of Kentucky.
They should start a website & mail out their goodies! If anyone knows them please pass that on to them.... stay strong USA & small town America....
Nice work in this. Danville is where i was born and i love seeing my town on youtube other than me just riding around here. If you ever here in danville again you should get hold of me so i to can learn more about my birthplace

Way back in the fifties we lived in Danville .Went to good old Edna L. Toliver school . My best pal was Teddy Porter . Other pals were Eddie Vasser , Mike Foster , Alan Burns and many more . Got hit by a wild pitch thrown by Sammy Burke and lifted off the floor by a paddle swung by Mrs Dinwiddie . Lord I loved Danville .

Grew up near Stanford. Went to Burke’s Bakery as a child, also shopped Hub Frankel. My Mom bought the salt risen bread. Good memories!
My Great Aunt Jessie Jeffries used to work at The Hub when it was the department store.

Love it! I grew up visiting family in Danville every year and Burke's was always a highlight of our trip. Woke up every morning to fresh Burke's waiting in the kitchen. The butter flake rolls are still like gold in our family. The best dinner roll I've ever had or will ever have. Totally unique and amazingly delicious. Listening to Patty Burke speak makes me realize that there is a specific Danville accent because that's how my family talks! :) Awesome stuff.
Danville is a wonderful town. The heart of the Kentucky Bluegrass country. Lexington is close but still far away enough not to be in your front door. Perryville is close the site of the 1862 Civil War battlefield. My family is from Kentucky. Dad grew up down the road in Springfield. I’m proud of my Kentucky heritage. Thank you for this video. A stop at Burke’s was a must to stock up on lots of goodies before heading to the Bogie farm in Hustonville. The Hub use to be a clothing store

Oml burkes bakery is gooood! I died when i had there cakes and cupcake and donuts!
Oh my my mom and my aunt use to make fresh one of them donuts for us on a Sunday if you got three or four dozen and then things with kids just love the man wouldn't have no better than mine on a stove

Got a lot of cousins in Danville Kentucky in Junction City Kentucky and all ran them through their love them to death without a doubt I'm still doing

These people are not wearing gloves as a safety precaution, as not to spread germs to the citizens and tourists visiting Dansville. A health inspector should investigate this bakery for safety code violations.
LOL you know nothing about the bakery business. They even ice cakes with their hands. NOT in gloves.
Really? If they have been there all these years...then obviously they can't be that bad. Smh.
The thing about gloves is that they are not as easily washed as bare hands but carry just as many germs.
