Actually as a former opiate addict of 10 years, and a fentanyl addict of 2:
I am quite proud when I git reminded of my past,
Cause I’m happy of what I overcame.
And not shy to say it,
Some of the people I knew are dead,
      And some are in Prison,
      I wouldn’t be offended.
1 year sober here I come!

I feel bad that RDJ feels his acting was inhibited by doing the MCU movies. I mean, I get where he is going with it, but the point of acting is to bring a character to life and compel the audience to have an emotional reaction to it. Most actors have one movie to make an audience connect with a character, RDJ had over a decade. We fell in love with Stark and he gave so much soul to a 2D character that he essentially took the breath out of an entire Cinematic Universe with his on-screen death. You don't do that without some serious acting chops. I'm not saying their concerns aren't legit, I just wish they could know emphatically that they're still making an impact.

His career was greatly impacted. He worked hard to clean his act up. And then he worked hard to get his reputation back. And then he's continued to show he can be trusted now.
He does not try to hide that he had a drug problem. He mentions it in every acceptance speech and then he thanks his wife for being there with and for him. He doesn't sugar coat. He walked out of that interview because he was there to promote a film not to talk about himself. The interviewer knew this but chose to ask the question anyway. The jokes early on about RDJ were VERY uncalled for and Kimmel should NEVER be called back to host another Oscars show. Nobody tells jokes about the late Oscar winning stars, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Health Ledger. Why joke about someone who cleaned himself up and made giant strides in his life and acting career?

Well if the jokes were pre-approved then what is the issue? If RDJ found the joke offensive then he should not have approved it. Simple. Plus I don't have a lot of sympathy for RDJ. His speech wasn't great and he just came across a bit arrogant and weird. Who would call their wife their veterinarian lol?? Plus he barely acknowledged the man that gave him the Oscar. We're comfortable in our own skin again and love ourselves today just as much as we love our families and friends. Our past got us to where we're at today. I promise you, Robert Downey Jr was not hurt by these jokes. He'll be alright. The dude has the best life ever! Winning Oscars and sh*t! There's no doubt he embraces his past mistakes.
