If an actor agrees to a script with a nude scene, do you think they should be allowed to decline later?
That would be dishonest. But people do get cold feet, so last min changes sometimes need to happen.

They shouldn't decline something they've intentionally signed onto. It's stupid for anybody calling themselves an "actor" to deliberately sabotage an entire movie because they "can't" somehow commit to a task. There's no gender discrimination either because this applies when anyone is required to be naked. Nude scenes aren't entirely irrelevant or distasteful at default because it's the least most offensive thing onscreen. But they shouldn't be involved for full nudity if they're prudes with no interest to comprehend any context and reasonings with these scenes. Nudity is fine and it's time for "actors" to stop pretending it's wrong because of their 'morals", "beliefs" and relationships.

Not performing a nude scene won’t completely destroy a career, it is a slight limit on how an actor or actress can be expressive. Any one who will go nude has more options to deliver a performance.
I think a lot of it is they just don't want to be naked on set in front of a bunch of drooling stage hands.
When there's nudity, it's usually very much a Closed Set.

@@realbadger ... That just reduces the number of Random people on set. There's still the director, camera operator (s), sound guys, lighting guys, etc. Some people are just not comfortable doing that.
You are projecting when you add "drooling". It is a job, just like any other, if they can't be composed they will be gone. likely long before a nude scene come up.

Kristen Bell - It was almost certainly unintentional, but Kristen Bell flashed a little skin in one scene of the movie Spartan (2004). If I recall correctly, she gets smacked and in the process, the camera catches a glimpse down her shirt.
I do not care if you decide to not do nudity on screen-rarely or ever-but I expect actors to respect the craft of filmmaking and the art of acting by simply not taking on roles that require it.
Actors not doing nudity is how we get contrived fully-clothed sex scenes in movies like 'Savages' (2012) and 'A Simple Favor' (2018). They should have been more professional and let other, willing actresses take on those roles.
Look to Julia Roberts, an actor that respected the craft of filmmaking and art of acting and managed to be the world's biggest actress without ever having done nudity nor a contrived sex scene.
Yeah, I doubt anyone was really asking to see Oprah or Rebel nude anyway and Barrymore, we already got her at her best, we don't need it when she's old.

I understand them refusing to film nude scenes. Private parts are private.Full body nude is very complicated. Whole crew is there. I wouldn't mind nude scene.But movies have to be with taste. I don't think that nudity is ever really needed in a film, but actresses who refuse to do it but use body doubles are such hypocrites.

They're either afraid or disinterested because of their personal morals, beliefs and relationships while not actually having good reasons. It's not mandatory to involve nudity but the idea shouldn't be entirely out of the equation for everybody. People who are physically attractive and confident shouldn't be forced to cover themselves. Prudes who hate nudity shouldn't have authority to sabotage projects for fulfilment. Furthermore there's nothing sexist, misogynistic or "disrespectful" about showing naked bodies, especially the female anatomy, onscreen in context of a story. In conclusion, don't sign up for something you can't commit to because it's stupid and changes should only happen if it actually benefits the experience in context.

There's a difference between being disinterested because they're actually incapable opposed to using silly excuses with religion, serious relationships and other prude wordings. Just because somebody hates nudity, wants to be faithful to their significant other, bound by religious beliefs or whatever shouldn't be the reason these scenes are changed or being declined. They shouldn't sign onto something they're totally unprepared and disinterested about because it wastes time and forces desperation to keep them involved. The only people applicable should be confident and passionate about their tasks while understanding context.

I guess that movies were not only better back then but the people could actually shoot better. also no machine guns or explosions.

They always say they won't... until they do. Jennifer Lawrence swore off nudity until somehow the producers of Red Sparrow talked her into it. Same thing recently with Emma Stone in Poor Things. They convince them it's for artistic reasons but secretly the producers are laughing and rubbing their hands together behind the scenes: "Ha! We got our famous star to get naked! We're gonna be rich!"
