Bought a Porter Cable 3 gallon, in 2016. The pressure went steadily downhill below 80psi, by 2018 being useless for my nail gun, then 60 and now 20psi, in 2021. Judging by the sheer number of "Repair" videos on these and Central Pneumatic, I would not recommend purchase.... and why invest hours fixing them, when you know some other part will fail in short years? We need laws against "throw away" products that are wasteful for the environment.

What size are the head bolts? 8mm?? What size is that torx bolt holding the flywheel? Must be bigger than 40. And what do you do, when you take the head assembly off and the piston is stuck up inside the head assembly? How to you propose I get it out of there? No amount of WD40 or twisting or coaxing has worked. Spent about 20 minutes with it trying every trick I know.

since the cylinder head is off, Why not just take out the screw that holds the keeper plate, take the plate off, , , replace the ring, then replace the keeper plate. I didn't remove the crank rod at all.

A new cylinder comes in the kit too. it doesn't look like you can replace the cylinder without taking the crank rod off.

Have the same unit. Only builds to 108 psi, runs indefinitely. When shut off, it holds the 108 psi. Checked it over 2 hours. Piston Ring?
