Absolutely would love to see more taming videos. I also like that you're one of the few tegu owners/breeders that seems to try to make sense of behavior through their lens and not our own. I've had a lot of people warn me of guberty with no advice or explanations given. When I get mine hopefully later this year, I'm definitely purchasing from you.
A lot of videos are just oh don’t know what happen, aggression coming out of brumation I guess it’s be puberty love Guberty much better! That words just fun and agree on how it needs to be addressed
Not sure if it was mentioned already, but one of the things I would do with my baby (she's going on 2 1/2yrs now) was place her food (always in the same dish so she came to recognize that dish as feeding time) and slowly reach in and love on her while eating. Always talking to her before showing her the dish, while placing the dish inside, and while she ate to relate calm to the entire process. She will now, gently take Quale eggs from my finger or palm without that over excitement and her feeling the need to rush the food.
As a personal preference, I also only give her the freeze/thaw mice so she wouldn't engage the natural instinct to chase her food resultingin chasing me! Lol. For those though, I do usually use long feeding tongs to give them to her if the tail isn't longer enough to hold because she does still get excited for them since I give mice as more of a treat. She's still a sweetheart though and is 95% calm and patient at feeding time and 100% calm any other time.
This was so helpful. I recently got my first tegu just a few weeks ago and taming is going wonderfully. Mostly because of all your content. Thank you so much!
Great video, I’m so glad you’re talking about this because I have seen people rid their tegus because they got bitten and viewing it as aggression. Mine was slightly smaller than the high black when I got her and she was feisty like this but I knew it was just food drive. It took 3 months to train her not aim at my fingers when I reach in😂 I feel sorry for the tegus that gets rehome due to ignorance on people’s behalf or gets neglected because their owners refuse to interact with them. People really need to do research on species behaviour before getting an animal, not only husbandry and nutritional research.
Yes please on the training! The blue I got from you is at “that size” and is ok once I get him out but he does not want to be picked up initially. Tail wiggling, up on legs, back arching, some hissing. He’ll sit on shoulders but is still a tiny bit hissy.
Lol i was scared of my tegu, he came out of the taco bell container got up on 2 legs ran at me. But after that got leather gloves and when he opened his mouth i put my hand in his mouth after awhile he was like this sucks and stoped ( did this when he was a baby no teeth).
My pure Blue Tegu turned 1 year old on October 7th, but he still hasn't shown any signs of "Guberty"? No increased aggression, no increased appetite, Never hissed and still fairly calm, etc. I am a pretty skittish person, so hand taming is been a challenge for me. His breeder regularly handled them from birth. I've started by gently rubbing his sides while he is basking, but I am terrified of getting bit. Thank you for these videos.
This was a super helpful video! We are longtime snake keepers, and just got our first baby red tegu. I’d love to see more desensitization, socialization, and taming videos like this. 🙂
My blue tegu (that came from you) is in that phase right now. He is smart as a whip though and is learning quickily. If he is really hungry he’ll charge the glass but no longer bites. Pretty much do the same technique 😊
My blue tegu from him is behaving very similar they’re probably brothers or sisters lol mine was from the batch he hatched in August I believe. It’s crazy how quickly he is growing and I have barely had him very long. 😂
Love your educational. Your not going to glaze over the tough spots rather you show it like it is to better prepare tegu owners ❤ That high energy one high black are there back love her…. Would there be any chance she could be my high black b between plague and Marcel ❤❤❤
That's about the size of my Sadie. She never flips her head towards me, but will just get up and walk away lol. Question: Her tail has been in shed for a long time and hasn't sloughed. The rest of her body shed well. What can I do to help it come along? Thank you!
My next video will help you out, it's all about shedding and a natural way to help. It is normal for their body and tail to shed at different times. It's not an issue until there are more than one layers of shed.

I agree, and you should buy from them! I just got my tegu from them a few weeks ago, she just came out of brumation and was still SO tame. She’s great

Great info, yes please taming video!
Yes to more taming videos. Do you feel that blue tegus in general are more nervous than other reds, black and white etc ?
There are some differences but also comes down to the individual.
I notice that blue tegus can be more flighty for longer. But I think that has a lot to do with their smaller size.
@@RoseCityReptilesTX Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. 😀

I think a taming video would be a great idea. Are you still open to the idea of in the future selling the mixture you use to feed your tegu?
Thank you for the video
