@@steppenwolf3252It's because the real framework most of them are using *is* punishment - that's why far fewer "pro life" people are willing to go all the way and prohibit abortion in the case of rape, even though that exception is inconsistent with the claimed pro life position. What they *actually* want to do is punish women for daring to have sex on their own terms by forcing them to breed, if it isn't their "fault" then they're much more willing to allow abortion
I guess what I don't understand is why they want so many babies but don't want to help all those single moms or even help feed the babies. I don't get it. Am I missing something?
No you are not. They expect women to have the babies, pay nothing, not even medical care, then go on about her way supporting the baby. All while men preach morality at her, often even over the fact that she's a single mom. The one factor often left out of this is that it took 2 to create the baby yet all the responsibility is put on the mom while the father involved often walks away and is not shamed for being immoral, or expected to contribute substantially to the childs upbringing both physically and financially (and I'm not talking 25 a week). It's easy to talk the talk when someone else has to walk the walk!

As a lefty that used to work on organic farms, it is very weird to hear the right wing turn all hippie about food and it be a pipeline for a lot of hippies I knew turn to the right and adopt a lot more right wing views. I would love for our food to be grown in a healthier more ecologically friendly way as a society. As much as I believe a healthy diet and lifestyle can help cure and prevent and cure health problems that doesn't mean being against vaccines and modern medicines is a good take. Conversations with farmer friends are only getting more and more strained as time goes on as this split happens. It is a weird timeline to be living in when eating healthy and organic has been picked up as a talking point by these disingenuous idiots. I would love for less pesticides and chemical fertilizers to be used but that takes scaling down from massive monocultures, changing what we eat and using better farming practices, growing more locally, employing more people to do the work and making sure those people get paid a living wage while doing it. I am sure the RFK's of the world aren't going to have nuanced multifaceted approaches to how they try to do anything about making our food system healthier and more organic.
The Federal Government does not mandate vaccines with the exception of mandating vaccines for government employees and military members. It is the states that mandate vaccines for state employees and students in public schools.
Abortion can be pro-life too and save women who would die or have to prove they were raped and then share custody of a child or give custody of a child TO a rapist. That would be immoral and Tommy Tuberville can identify with farmers and keeping their farms but not women keeping their privacy and choice and dignity or be protected from being the accused if raped. Journal of American Medicine (JAMA): In the 14 states that implemented total abortion bans following the Dobbs decision, we estimated that 519 981 survivors of completed rape experienced 64 565 rape-related pregnancies during the 4 to 18 months that bans were in effect
When it comes to regulating industry, it's government overreach, but when it comes to a person's bodily autonomy, it's state's rights -- and they have the audacity to call themselves "pro-life" all while catering to the very industries that literally destroy millions upon millions of lives every year. Our government can't be supportive of people's health while supporting industry deregulation. We can eat healthy all we want, but if our crops are full of pesticides, our food is contaminated, and our water and air are full of pollution, then we're going to be riddled with health problems and dying deaths that can be prevented if we didn't live in such environments in the first place. None of that matters to them though. Their main focus is forcing pregnancies to continue. They don't care if children are born into unsustainable living conditions. We live in country where potential life is more important than actual life, and profit is valued above all else. (edited for typos and clarity)

So they are correct, the food is different and it’s because it’s processed, not for the reasons she gave. Pasta is 100% different here and our bread. They don’t actually care though, they’ll do nothing about it.
I'm confused, did someone actually say pasta and bread in Europe makes you thinner than bread here? If so that person must have misspoke or forgot to take their medication. I'm pretty sure it's just healthier/better for you over there (low bar to pass) - less people with celiacs disease, more people carefree about eating it, because their bread is processed differently. It has less additives and sugar. They just eat it because it's delicious, without worrying about it like we do, with carb counting and crap. Your body breaks their bread down easier than our bread because ours is made for mass production and longer shelf lives. Yes, in general they walk more than us, but some people still plop down for desk jobs like us and don't worry about their bread or pasta. It doesn't "make you thinner" but it doesn't "make you fatter", or even fat, if you eat the same amount. It's basically a non issue there, they can eat as much as they want, whereas a lot of people here legitimately have to be cautious on their consumption. Bottom line is, changing our bread pasta along with all the other healthier food related things he says he can do for everyday people would require a massive overhaul of our farm to plate system (scary regulations). It would likely cause food prices to skyrocket unless they have some *gasp* socialist plan to make it work or major subsidies to dish out to the producers and distributors. Of course the rich already have access to this food, and the well off do too in some places, but is pretty pricey.

We don't have a voice in any of it. The system is designed that way. On both sides and both parties, they cater to the oligarchs not us. We're just fodder to control.
We had fast food 20 years ago in europe too, I had a mcdonalds literally right across the street from my house growing up in Greece. It's just about not eating there often. It's meant to be a once in a month tops deal, in america you have folks who eat there every day.

As a European, not to burst your bubble guys, you sound like every clueless American when talking about European eating habits. We have takaways, we have drive throughs, we have fat people. We don't all walk everywhere or live idolised European city vacation lives. Most of us have cars. We just have old cities that aren't built around everyone having cars and actually have rail networks that make sense. We work long hours. We are lazy, we aren't all walking up an Alp or a fjord twice a day. It's just that, on average, we aren't quite as insanely poorly educated when it comes to food.
Have you spent appreciable time in America and Europe? If anything, you sound like you’re ignorantly assigning positions to Sam and co. The point is in general. No one thinks Europe is a utopia. But comparing the average, the daily, still shows a stark difference
@@nenafan1 Most Americans do think Europe is a Utopia as they romanticize everything about how Europe is better than America. Especially their regulations of food and their healthcare.
@@colonicus Apologies, then. It didn’t come off as sarcasm on my end, no. I’ve heard versions of this now and then, said in earnest. Might just be me, though
I find it insulting that Sam dismisses the differences in European wheat products to North American as portion size, as if people don’t know the difference in their levels of consumption. In Europe they largely use different wheat species than heartier ones grown in our climate, these species have different proteins that react differently in our bodies. In Europe glyphosate is banned, but here we douse our wheat crops with it so it all dies at the same time and produces a higher yield. You can do better than this. I have firsthand, anecdotal, experience of eating way more bread and pasta and pastries in Europe than I ever would here and I know it doesn’t make me feel like crap like it does here.
I agree with most of what Sam says--but a calorie of Oreos is fundamentally different from a calorie of broccoli. American food is more contaminated with pesticides, additives and sugar than European food, and that contamination absolutely makes people fat. And unhealthy. This is not the beach head to die on. There are much more important things to do than protect American food production methods. Frankly, while I agree that Kennedy is a clown, I would rather having him make the Trump administration look foolish than have Pete Hegseth and Tulsi Gabbard sell us out to the Russians or have Kash Patel persecute us for our political beliefs.
Jillian Michaels is not an authority in any way on GMO or any other aspect of science related to food production. she’s a right winger too. I wonder if being a heroin addict for 15 years if that causes cognitive changes that persist after you gain some control over that addiction I mean look at RFK Junior does he look like a person that is completely clean and sober?
Question: it says, ‘no taxpayers funded abortions’. Is that how politicians get around it-private pay? So, can you pay for your own? The, the only ones needing ‘taxpayer funded’ will most likely be lower income, which means a probable increase in babies of color (the people they don’t want’). And,in Italy ,I can eat cheese and gelato with no problem. Here, I get so sick from lactose. My doctor told me before my trip to try to eat things there I can’t eat here. No problems.
Not saying you’re lying, but that makes no sense. Lactose is lactose. Unless you were eating some buffalo gelato somehow, it’d have to be something else somehow
The pesticides cause inflammation (among many things). But honestly the idiocy of how they went after Michelle Obama but now are sooo concerned. I would like us to ban the pesticides but it will be a problem with the monoculture big agricultural ways we grow food. We would have to move to a permaculture model across the country to make this work for truly organic food. Everyone's yard needs to become a food forest.

As an Irish person who has visited the USA and Canada it is 100% portion size... even fast food place like BK and McDonalds the portions are like 1/3 larger than in Europe !
You're Irish, and therefore presumably a native Anglophone, and yet you're calling the US, "USA"? Was that meant to be a Borat impression?
@@williamjameslehy1341 I'm a native Anglophone from New Zealand and in NZ for most of my life it has always been either the USA or "the States". And to go back to the circledk's comment, I've also visited the USA and Canada and agree that the portions there are huge (on recent trip one Greek takeaway each fed us for two days and we still had leftovers!).

So they are correct, the food is different and it’s because it’s processed, not for the reasons she gave. Pasta is 100% different here and our bread. They don’t actually care though, they’ll do nothing about it.
They also won’t buy our food because the pesticides our gov allows farmers to spray all over our crops are banned in Europe!!

How can you be pro life if concern ends at birth
How does Tubberville know what’s going on in Alabama? He doesn’t f-cking live there!!!
It would be great to start with options. I *think* Monsanto won't even let small farmers use their own seeds. They have to buy from Monsanto.

Little known fact the McDonald's in Europe doesn't make you fat because the calories are on the metric system.
How do you vote in a federal election in New York when you live in California? Maybe time to continue a family tradition.
not all calories are created equal
I agree with most of what Sam says--but a calorie of Oreos is fundamentally different from a calorie of broccoli. American food is more contaminated with pesticides, additives and sugar than European food, and that contamination absolutely makes people fat. And unhealthy.
This is not the beach head to die on. There are much more important things to do than protect American food production methods.
