I grew up as a second child. My parents kept telling me to be more like my sister, act better, get better grades. No I didn't grow up to be famous, but I did grow up. Unfortunately, I stayed away from my parents more than I should have. We both lost, time with each other, history I could have learned about family, and mostly love. Because the way I was treated, my wife and I never had children. I tell this NOT because I want sympathy. But for A lesson for parents. All your children need you. every one of them. All your lives, and you need them. Thank you for reading this I hope it helps.

@@BradDison Yeah, I am. I have a lovely wife who loves me. I have friends that come when I need them, and vica versa. What I wrote about is about my only regret.

It's nice to know a big tough guy came from such small beginnings.

Just goes to show you, it's not so much how you were raised but what you determine to do that brings failure or success

Brad, what you need to do is watch his portrayal of Mickey Hargitay. I honestly didn't know he was capable of such depth as an actor until I saw that!!

    Thanks, Brad.
My first guess was J. Edgar Hoover and then Hitler. Glad I was wrong on both counts.
Many years ago I carried a bumper sticker on my car that read: "Words can hit a child as hard as a fist. STOP using words that hurt!"
If I had one now I would still display it, because some things never change.
    Thanks again.

Isn't that the truth. Words are very powerful. When I was a child, I would rather have had a whipping than "the talk." lol. :)

Just goes to prove how much ridicule has served purpose throughout history. It has inspired and motivated countless historical , I equally believe has prevented much ignorance. For the lack of ridicule we now have the current overly ignorant snowflake society. A generation too dumb/lazy and sensitive to think for themselves for fear of offending or being offended.

My cousins, who were slightly older than me, were on the verge of cruel when it came to proper grammar. We were and remain very close friends. They are, at least in part, responsible for the way I speak and write. When we're around each other these days, which is pretty often, we still laugh when we make a grammatical error. If something offends us, we should try to figure out why it offends us. The problem may not be them but us. Did that make any sense at all? hahaha. :)

Sorry, but you should be more aware of your male bias, with " his family's" disapproval, As the story was told... "his father"!
