He is a tweener, but not in a good way like a Magic who was 6’8” with skills of a 1-5 or Bird, Dirk, etc. Zion, whom I actually like, is the height of a 4 but the weight of a large 5. He needs to get in Karl Malone shape and dominate from that position.
I want people to keep making content like this because apparently that’s what causes a game like the one he just had against the TWolves. Also, unbelievably bad comparison between Jamarcus Russell and Zion. Jamarcus held out for a bigger contract, Zion didn’t. Zion made 2 all star teams in his first 4 years. Jamarcus Russell threw more INTs than touchdowns and was out of the league by year 4.
Zion sure needs to start taking his NBA career more seriously. I believe ever since he started earning alot of money his passion for basketball went down. New Orleans has the potential to be the best team in the western conference this season. Obviously injuries to a number of players have killed their chances of achieving that goal in recent years. He's only 23 so teams that aren't contending right now could take a chance. OKC still has a disgusting amount of draft picks they could use to get him and see if he develops with the guys they have now. And since most of the package would be centered around draft picks and salary fillers, they would still be winning games now. Low risk, high reward. Houston could give it a shot too, but OKC isn't really known for food or partying.
What a difference a month makes. Since this video was posted, Zion is averaging 22 points /game; New Orleans is tied for 1st with a 23-16 record; of those 39 games, he has played in 32.
I've been saying for years that it's a huge mistake to treat "intangibles" like an afterthought, it's what makes or breaks these guys at the highest level
The teams need to address the condition of the contracts. They have to make it standard on all the conditions before a player get the bag. Like in the in tournament they have to win before the money bag.
Zion is so pathetic, like you had little kids looking up too you and you let them all down… this is why I have the most respect for lebron. comes in the league at 18 & is mature beyond his years…a world class athlete
I heard that Zion is the biggest bust in NBA history on another TH-cam channel today, but I strongly disagree. I believe that distinction goes to Anthony Bennett. He was a #1 overall pick who never amounted to anything. You also had Greg "the next Bill Russell" Oden if you want the hype. Regardless of who had the #1 overall pick in 2007, that team would have picked him over Kevin Durant.

We had lebron, kobe, shaq, Duncan, MJ.. players now have the talent, they just don't have the drive and heart to pair with it.
That's not true. It's just the over hyped players often don't end up being mega stars. Whereas the Steph Curry types didn't get over hyped and ended up blowing everyone's minds. So just ignore the hype and actually look at the game changers right now. Haliburton is having a huge year. Luka is going insane (as usual). I mean these guys are changing the game.... @@caseythreephoto but kembar walker isn't a megastar. Steph Curry is a mega star. It's funny because people list 6 players in the last 40 years and then say "where have all the mega stars gone!?!" And I totally get what you're saying though, obviously I'm not in the league and I'm sure Demar has a great point, but then again he's never been on a great team. I wonder what Steph/LeBron would have to say about that from the past decade. Because culture is a big thing. But the idea that the greatest teams of all time are a representation of most teams in the past is ridiculous because most teams are rubbish. Only a few teams are the best each year.
Shaq was also 7’2 , you can get away with being overweight if you’re 7 footer with a 30 inch vert and 400lb bench press. Being 6’5 with the same issues will severely limit you
If i was the owner of an NBA team, i wouldn't trade for Zion, as he is now. He is not in shape and needs to lose a ton of weight, is still a rookie but has already serious problems with his feet, and doesn't have that work ethic and mentality that most teams are looking for. Now if he shows up in perfect shape, ultra slim and looks very sharp and dedicated to be a champion, then everything can change! But sadly, i don't see this happening... It's a pity because if he really wanted he could be a great player, worthy of the hype around him.
I really don't understand why people say that zion was a top tier talent. why? because he abused high schoolers? that means that he was ahead of them physically nothing else. his game was never suitable for the nba, he can't dunk 24/7 against grown man. his fg is terrible, his defense is terrible and he is injury prone. but people jump on the hype ALL THE TIME because they see a giant high schooler who destroys normal 16 - 17 yrs old students? he was even stupid enough not to try to force himself into a vulnerable position (technically beat the others, jumpshots, fade aways, defense, pg stuff etc) and not use his physical advantage. fm total short sighted now he can reap the reward
To be honest, I understand where you're coming from... But let's not pretend that Zion wasn't still a dominant force. The summer league showed his physical dominance, being called a "man amongst boys." then after coming back from injury had an amazing debut. I mean, his strength is insane. Hell, his all-star season (2021) he averaged 27 and 7 on 61 percent from the field. It also doesn't help that they were one of the best teams when Zion was the clear star and in shape. His talent isn't the problem, his persona is.
@@icarusxiii Check the last lakers game. they closed inside the paint and he was done. that's it. the league just had to figure him out. his offense is just ONE play nothing else, extremely dull. zero versatility. also, even if he was a talent offensively, he is a total risk injury wise. jesus that body and play style. guaranteed injury every single season.
@@csuszi11 that's not what I meant. I meant that regardless, Zion is a dominant force. I wasn't defending the person. Zion is heading to being another Ben Simmons... And Ben Simmons IS a disappointment because of how special he was. Zion doesn't have a jump shot, Zion doesn't put effort into defending the paint, and Zion doesn't care about his weight... That doesn't change that his strength and bounce in this league was still something to look at, or the fact that he could turn into a star at any moment with the right mindset. Zion's disappointment isn't his raw gifts, so why attack that aspect? A lot of people forget, that when Zion was in-shape (2023) he was pretty damn good. Not a megastar, but way better than the version of himself that's not even trying.
@@icarusxiii I understood you mate :) I reflected on the point he is or was a dominant force. I think he's been never a dominant force in the nba. against proper defense and heavier/taller players he can't bully his way to the rim anymore. the persona, that is not even a question. this is why scouts should pay attention more to work ethics and background (school, parents, friends) and not just raw talent. it is gonna bite you in the ass at the end. like morant. another idiot.
When you give a young man millions and everything he wants.... why would he care about a championship? I mean, it's a lot of work and for what? It's just a trophy that the company keeps.
This is so frustrating to see. Imagine having the incredible, unique pairing of size, physicality, and talent, but wasting all of it because you just don't care. How could you have all this in your hands and not want to do anything with it? And the Pelicans have the pieces of a great team, so why waste all this opportunity to succeed?!
Zion to the Knicks would, on paper, seem like a perfect fit for them, deal is certainly there (probably be something like Randle, Fournier, Grimes, and 2-3 firsts), and a starting 5 of Brunson/Quickley/RJ/Zion/Robinson would be amongst the best and brightest in the NBA. Zion has always wanted to be in NY since draft night, plus his college best friend in RJ Barrett is also there. Here's the issue though: talk is cheap. Will power is one of the most important things you need to live with to be successful. Cause he never plays games, he puts up stats just to show up only 20% of the time. Look at this, for the third year in a row, he has disappointed with his poor conditioning.
Love this channel watch every video you post
Difference shaq was one of the biggest and most dominant big man ... zion is a big guy but only 6"7 ... he can't recover like shaq ... shaq was great even when outta shape...
Stephen A Smith even recently went on a rant about Zion's weight on his solo podcast. So Zion had better get his appetite and lust for women under control or he'll be out of the NBA before he's even 30 years old.
Over 40 million in the bank. Why should he take the NBA seriously?
@@fredm.2699Because it's his job to of course. GM's, coaches and even the teammates want all-star players who actually want to win during the regular season and playoffs. They don't want players who are so easily distracted and involved in off-court drama.
@@bracebrooks967 over $40mm in his bank account. He has already hit the lottery.
Yup exactly he just likes to enjoy being rich asf and gotten lazy and doesn’t care about basketball much. But He’s set for life regardless
@@getpape4126 he should be financially set for life, but some NBA players have wasted their money, or had to pay a significant amount of it on child support and Zion may end up having to make child support payments too with his reckless behavior with young ladies.
Apparently some of the images leaked from Zion's baby momma drama had a picture of a soda can in his shower. You know it's bad when you're downing Mountain Dew in the bathroom
Zion is playing good this season i think he is overhated
For the love of God, stop paying players based on "potential"
Zion should consider becoming a tight end or something in the NFL. The NFL has many positions that are more flexible and tolerable in regards to weight and size. If he can’t keep his weight down, he needs to seriously consider changing sports careers.
I told everyone that Zion wasn’t as good as people said he was
Casey, this is why I subscribe!👍🏽
Bruh I swear AM Hoops just inserting the trade talks for a certain issue is the most AM Hoops thing ever 😭😂
I cant blame a 18- 24 year old for not being able to focus when they havent accomplished anything in the nba and already are getting paid
I can. SAD they like thjs but I didn't think was good ideas signing that contract
Bro it's so nice when u post
AS A PELS FAN "BIG MAN JAMES HARDEN" FITS HIS FAT AHZ PERFECTLY.
Houston could give it a shot too, but OKC isn't really known for food or partying.
ja and zion are have a generational talent that can be waste bcs they focus on the fame and spotlight sad to see this
What a difference a month makes.
As a New York Knicks fan I would absolutely hate Zion on on our team. He is always hurt and just terrible. I hope we do not get Zion
This reminded me of the scene in the basketball diaries when Leonardo is strung out and trying to play basketball.
Technically, Pelicans didn't gain anything from the AD trade. 😆
Nope😂
Ingram?
@@curryformvp7681 i mean, in terms of winning. They just made the playoffs once since the AD trade.
they didn't but zion did. he gained an additional 30 pounds
Bro Zion walking back on defense looks like Joel embiid running back on defense LOL.
Difference is Embiid actually does something once he finally gets back there, he blocks and alters shots all the time. Zion just waddles around
Seems more into the lifestyle than the game.
I’m a Zion fan and I have to agree. He let us all down man 😭😭
Shits a facade he don't wanna play in New Orleans 😭 watch when he go somewhere else mf gonna morph into thanos
@@Woodie04 lmaoo hopefully, or it will only get worse 😂💀
this guy never misses news oh my zion
I heard that Zion is the biggest bust in NBA history on another TH-cam channel today, but I strongly disagree. I believe that distinction goes to Anthony Bennett. He was a #1 overall pick who never amounted to anything. You also had Greg "the next Bill Russell" Oden if you want the hype. Regardless of who had the #1 overall pick in 2007, that team would have picked him over Kevin Durant.
When he was drafted: Wasnt in shape.
When he got his max extension for 200 mill: Wasnt in shape.
He got huge checks while not being in shape and people are wondering, why doesnt he get in shape.
Pelicans need to hire this man a live in chef and trainer. Babysit him.
Blues great John Lee Hooker had a song 'Whiskey and women almost ruined my life'. Zion's song should be 'Food and women almost ruined my life'.
I liked my own comment
We don't care
Your mom liked mine
I care
Good take, better than most. 😮
I also liked your comment
0:25 honestly bro they’re laughing because they’re faded asf and enjoying how funny reality is from their point of view. But I like how you tried to spin your own narrative. 😉
That's hilarious bro, I thought the same shit when I seen that interview 😂 I was like, they ain't serious, they're gonna get blown out. 80% of these players now don't care about the game, they care about what the game can pay for. That's why we won't have a mega star in the NBA for the first time in my life after lebron retires.
We don't know who the mega stars are until they become the mega star. Like Steph... And it's weird you didn't mention the biggest star of the last decade who's won the most chips....
@@jambononi TRUE THAT!
@@jambononiDemar DeRozan and Paul George had a great conversation on George’s podcast a while ago. Demar was sharing his perception on players in todays league and that most of them just don’t care. They don’t train. They only show up for pregame practice. They’re not putting the max amount of effort into their game. He said they’d rather put more focus into their video games than on the floor. That’s coming from a vet who’s played in Toronto, SA and now Chicago. He’s seen the so called best players just slowly becoming more and more complacent. Sure some of them have stand out years, but then they vanish - where’s Kemba Walker??? Anyone?
@@jambononiexactly 😂 Steph might actually pass Lebron at this rate
@@caseythreephoto but kembar walker isn't a megastar. Steph Curry is a mega star. It's funny because people list 6 players in the last 40 years and then say "where have all the mega stars gone!?!" It's that they are incredibly rare. You know what else used to happen. Great players got kicked out the league for taking drugs or bringing weapons into the locker room... Nothings changed. There are great young players now. It's just perception. And I totally get what you're saying though, obviously I'm not in the league and I'm sure Demar has a great point, but then again he's never been on a great team.
Can you do a video about the nets
Yoooo what’s good Family 💯💯💯
remember that clause in his contract for him to stay healthy....
whatever happened to that?
The Heat can save Zion’s career !
Hell he would have no choice but to lose weight in their system
Ja Morant is the best player in the 2019 draft, every year he has done nothing but improve his game
Casey damn bro great video man 🫡🎯💯
Keep it 💯 up I'm loving your content bro from New Zealand 🇳🇿 🙌 Maori Adam's
I’d say mostly cause of his sophomore season, 27.0 ppg, played over 60 games too. Since then he’s lost a lot of credibility tho.
Got damn underdog is sponsoring everyone 😂😂😂
it's sad cause the team is deep and ready to compete. There are so many good players that could come in and replace him
This is so frustrating to see.
If Zion still doesn't put in the effort to get and stay in shape and improve his work ethic, the Knicks are screwed.
the picks are conditional of his play. Randle and let Lakers add in DLO.
First time being this early on one of your videos lesssgooo
I called Zion a bust when he was still at Duke.
It was too easy to see.
*Disgruntled player/franchise exists*
A.M. Hoops: “THE KNICKS WOULD BE THE PERFECT DESTINATION”
Yes, Zion wanted to be a Knick but the lottery odds fell to N.O. (Thanks Adam Silver/Anthony Davis) and yes Donovan Mitchell wanted to/thought he was gonna be a Knick but man this is an exhausted take. Dude has even proposed Embiid to the knicks. If KD/Kyrie didn’t go, if LeBron didn’t go (twice; 2010 and 2018) it ain’t happening
I watched that game and commented on that exact play i believe was in the first quarter when zion looked gased running back on defense.
If zion stays healthy, the pelicans got a shot at getting on the finals
You could pull the healthy card for half the western conference.....
Nah I think it's time zion to start looking for a new team to play and take his health more serious
@@kdawg6887no team especially contenders, would want a lazy unmotivated player that couldn't reach his full potential, his salary is not worth to fill the cap space, for his performances.
@@kdawg6887 He just signed a 6 yr max he can't look even if he wanted too, and he has no pull or push in the league to make demands of anyone or anything if he can't even handle the demands made of him.... AT BEST he works around this and figures it out at worst my Pels will deal him to the highest bidder, and everyone can hope he turns it around then. I got nothing but love for him but, NOLA been giving him all the space do the right things and he just does not seem to be doing what is being asked of him... I would be happy with 2 firsts, and we can take a cap dump for em.. Sucks though but, homie just does not look like he has that burning desire to become what everyone sees he could be.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Will power is one of the most important things you need to live with to be successful. You think Kobe wanted to go at 4 am, no he did not to, but he had the will power to get there early because he knows how it will affect his game for the better. Zion has no Will power that is why he is not fit. Everybody wants to eat unhealthy foods but it is about the sacrifices that you make and in 10 years you will be happy you made theses sacrifices.
I don’t get how a guy who gets paid $1M every two weeks is constantly out of shape. Like seriously??? If it’s that bad hire a chef for $70-$90k a year and they’ll do your cooking and count calories so you’ll never get over weight. It’s really that simple. Just a lack of discipline. Honestly surprised how Ja receives more backlash than Zion about professionalism 🤦♂️
That one press conference clip of both of them looking like college players on spring break is why the Pels aren't going to win one. Both of them will be gone in a couple years, as will the GM, even though he did all he could to put a contender on the floor. You can't teach super talented 22-year-olds to grow up, and they often do with other teams.
For you 80's fans out there, two words: Melvin Turpin.
Ol' Dinner Bell Mel. RIP.
why ben is only strong in the off season?
Why does Jordan brand sponsor him? I’m a better fit for gods sake!
He's just following the James Harden diet when he wanted to get traded, always having a pre-game meal, but in Zion's case it's not just pre-game.
