Your Father was a good man.
    How do I know this?
Because he raised a good son.

Justin, please, take a moment to close your eyes while outside... All that you hear and all the beauty that surrounds you-is your dad. Your children’s laughter, the chickens, pigs, goats & cows.... That’s all him! Thank you, for a beautiful vlog!

Ah, Justin. My husband passed away unexpectedly in his sleep last Friday. I got him hooked on your channel and he reminded me so much of a younger version of your dad. I used to joke with him that he would be just like him, in 15 yrs. I'd like to think they have met by this time & are looking down with a big smile, because they would get along like a house afire.

Justin, I don't know how many times I've cried with you over your dad, and other times from laughing! You've got a beautiful heart my friend! Something any dad, or in my case, Mom, would be proud of! You are my sons age. I have a very strong feeling, the life you're building with your children, you're going to be the same dad your children will always be proud to say "That's my Poppa!" You are loved by many!

Justin, my Dad passed away three years ago and even though I can’t hear his voice and I can no longer ask him questions or advice, I hear his answer in my heart. Your Dad is talking to you too just in a different way.

I really love your videos, I live in a tiny apartment in a big city in the center of Europe and I had a little window-sill garden. I grew tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, and a couple of herbs and it helped me a lot through though situations being connected to my food, growing my own stuff. Unfortunately, my landlord made me take everything down because they deemed it unsafe (I know construction and it wasn't, but there was no space for argument). That really got me down, and I struggled a lot...but sometimes I guess the TH-cam algorithm works in mysterious ways I saw one of your videos and watching you and your family grow food, learning about agriculture, got me reconnected! This season I managed to grow some salads and garlic...I'm on my path again. I hope someday in the future I'll have a patch of land, and finally grow a bit more. But I just wanted to say thank you for all the effort and sharing your journey with this very personal perspective! I'm glad I found this patch of green on the internet!

I hope you know how much you inspire people, not just farmers. I'm just a 50 year old backyard chicken momma (I have 5 hens) who lives in the suburbs of San Diego. I end every day with your family, watching you build, grow and prosper on your farm. I bought Joel's book "You Can Farm" because even though I'm getting on in my years, I have a dream to retire on a small homestead. Watching what you do gives me faith that I still have it in me to do a smaller version of what you do. You are a gift to the whole world.

It’s a club of which no one wants to be a member. Yet, most of us will, eventually become. I feel your loss. Not a day goes by I don’t hurt for the loss of my father. Yet, that gives me some solace, he is never really gone. Keep doing this noble and important work.

I was crying before you even started yourself. I’m trying so hard to make this work and with very little cash flow. And you know what? It is working. My builds may not be new materials or even pretty but by the grace of God my chickens and geese are thriving and happy. Now I’m building a pig shelter and saving every penny I can find to buy those pigs. I want to make myself proud. And even though you do not know me I’m always trying to “do it and make Justin proud”. Thank you Thank you Thank you. From the bottom of my heart ❤️. Justin you and your family are a gift from God to all those looking to be better.

Please take this with love and blessings for your family. My father passed away
6 1/2 years ago and I miss him as much today as I did then. He does speak to me, but not in the normal way. He speaks to me with little signs that i know are from him. As adults it's often difficult to recognize them, unlike children, in their innocence, who see all. Not just my father, but all those i love who have gone before me. The best example is my very outspoken mother -in-law, who i adored. She had already been gone 5 years when my father-in-law passed. We inherited the house and decided to clean everything out and let my daughter and grandchildren move in. My daughter was very concerned whether her grandparents would approve and be ok with the changes. Now, mind you, we cleaned out everything including the closets. After they moved in, my young granddaughter had opened the hall closet and my daughter told her to please close it. She stepped away from the door and in her hand was an empty bag of tootsie rolls. My mother-in-law loved them and there was always a bag on her kitchen counter. My daughter was freaked out and called me immediately. I told her that was her sign that all was good. Your father can't speak to you with his voice but can show you through little things that he sees you. We often want huge miracles, which are easy to recognize, but it's the little things we miss. Look for the little things.

Toughest thing is loosing a parent, you turn a corner and think, I need to show this to Dad or I need to ask Dad about this. Same when my mom died when I was eight. All the big milestones you think, wow, wish mom could of seen this. But...every time you show your children how to do something or find the wonderment of their world, you honor your dad and he lives on though you and your children. Pain lessens but it never is truely gone. All you can do is hug your kids, hug your wife...and love them the best you can. Thanks for posting and yes your Dad is proud of you.

Jousting you do hear your dad. Everytime his words pop into your head and heart he is speaking to you. You know in the end he was proud. Maybe he sends his words through Joel when you two talk about such things. I miss my dad terribly and I still have many issues with him even at the age of 62 but every time I think of something he would do or say I know he is talking to me. My brother and I always joke about the crazy dreams we have about our parents. They are visiting us. Sit quiet and l iui sten to him and smile. He is to you.

Thank you for all that you do and all that you share. You have so much to take care of and so many people in your household that look to you, please remember to take time for yourself, especially as you approach the anniversary of the passing of your Dad. Here is my suggestion: take a day where, after morning chores are done, you go by yourself into your woods. Lay on the earth and look up at the trees. Focus on one leaf in the tree tops to empty out the busyness of your mind and soak in the peace.

🤗🤗. WOW WOW WOW. This was a piece of art and so thoughtfully edited and put together right down to the giant tree hug I’m certain so many felt. I’ve seen that some have stated they’re tired of all the advertising you’re doing for someone else’s book and tired of hearing nothing but Joel Saladin (?sp?). When someone has influenced you so much and for the better I say WHY NOT? Each day up to the anniversary of your dads passing you’ll relive each of those moments and Lord knows the tears will fall. Look around yourself and then at your kids and feel the Love your dad is still showing cuz he is .....maybe even more with your many successes. And then feel the pride and then share a tender moment with each one of the kids. THAT is keeping the heartbeat of the land alive from the time your relatives moved onto it. I believe your friendship has blossomed and bloomed more with Joel cuz your dad saw it and knew one day you’d need a friend to help you as your dad did just by praising your work and eagerness to keep the land alive. The feeling of loss and the longing to have just one more hour never goes away. Dang I still play the last message my mom and sister did before their untimely passing just to hear their voice. It fills my heart when I need a hug. Sorry this is long BUT this video touched me and I wanted to praise you for your openness. It meant a lot. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Such a heartfelt video. I have always loved the videos with your Dad included.
I am so excited, I received notice I should be receiving my book on Wednesday and I can't wait to read it. Thank you for letting me know this book was available. Also thank Joel for writing it when you talk to him. After I read it I will be giving it to my young nephew who is undecided which direction to go. He has a wonderful understanding of nature and the potential way of farming, but I think this book will help send him in correct direction.

An altruistic act that made you reflect so deeply and here I am watching you grow into the older man that is going to make a young man say: no one can replace my dad, but I want to make Justin proud and to hear him say "thank you" meant everything to me".
Sending hugs and blessings to you and yours. ☺️
