I find it funny and sad that Ray Liotta's last film (or at least one of them) involves him dealing with a bear doing cocaine. Great review as always. I agree with what you're saying

I enjoyed the movie enough, but I kind of agree that there needed to be something more. I think if you had trimmed down the characters and made it more clear what their motivations are, it would’ve been more well rounded. The bear was still fun to watch though.
The film should've been like 15-30 minutes longer. More bear, yes, but more fleshing out of the characters and their situations as well. They tried to jam too many character arcs in 90 minutes and giving us too little about them to get invested. Better executed then Blood and Honey for sure.
Longer?! I guess I’d take longer if there were less characters and it was turned into an actual story. Can’t wait to see blood and honey at some point lol
@@SydneyVolpe You need fully realized characters for a story to be compelling. Yet again I guess I don't have to care about someone's personality to care that they might get torn apart by a black bear.
@@SydneyVolpe like they could have put more on the middle about what was happening with the missing girl of concern to make it more compelling. That's what the Korean film The Host did better with that plot device.
@@SydneyVolpe but I agree that the 90 minute run time would have worked better if they had fewer character. But with the amount of characters they had, a longer runtime to do more with them would've been better.
A blend of Jurassic Park, Evil Dead, Stand by Me, and Pulp Fiction DOES MAKE SENSE!! That said, this show was a disappointment for me. It wasn't walk out of the theater bad but the 2nd half did drag. The reviews and memes about the movie >>> than the movie itself.

I feel like the film peaked at its ambulance scene. Everything after was pretty generic.
Yeah that’s fair, my favorite parts came either then or before that scene, everything else was a struggle
Blood and Honey is different, since that always looked like garbage, meme or not, lol.

Cocaine bear seems like the ultimate "entertainment" movie
I’m getting silent night vibes based on this review and the concept of that film wore thin for me after awhile
I haven’t seen silent night haha but it’s possible, kind of a tonal subversion that gets old pretty quick
The big appeal to me is that it’s a The Americans (FX) reunion… with a decidedly different tone
