I've been looking for a new Arcade Racer to sate my craving, and I tried out Hotshot Racing from this list. The drifting feels incredible, especially once you find the car that suits you. Hello! Yeah, Hotshot Racing is really smooth and plays well. It's great in split-screen and it's almost always cheap, if not completely free, depending on your platform and subscription choice. Enjoy, and thanks for watching!
May I suggest Circuit Superstars, a fantastic top down asymmetrical view, like the old racers from back in the day. So much fun. Driving isnt super easy and has a bit of “sim” aspects, despite its presentation. That said, lot of arcade type attributes. Point is: its soooo good. Very worth checking out.
Wait! Nevermind. Spoke too soon Well done. Great minds think alike. Good to hear about this devs new project. If I recall correctly it was a husband and wife or some couple that made Circuit Superstars.
May I also suggest Lonely Mountain Downhill. Both sire if it still is on GamePass or not but either way worth a purchase. Has similar feel and difficulty curve of Circuit Superstars. And while not a traditional racer, getting tons of speed and making a jump, finding new, different alternative routes is loads of fun. Vastly underrated racing type game. Controls are easy to learn, hard to master.
I need to play some more of that game. And Descenders, another mountain bike title. I used to love Downhill Domination on the PS2, but I doubt many people remember that. Thanks for watching, and the suggestions!

Thank you! I think Circuit Superstars and games like Super Woden GP 2 can be a lot of fun, especially with plenty of people on track, or in split-screen multiplayer. But the other racers are great, and I hope you enjoy them. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your list of games. Horizon Chase Turbo is an old style arcade racing game that is pretty enjoyable. It looks like Hot shot racing you presented here.
Super Sprint was excellent back in the day. Glad I could introduce you to something new. And you might like Super Woden GP 2 from another of my arcade racer videos as well. Thanks for watching!
art of rally and Victory Heat Rally and two of my favorite retro/lofi looking racing games. art of rally is more realistic in its handling and challenging, Victory Heat Rally is obscenely fun with its drift button. Also, the new Monster Jam Showdown is actually really fun. Big improvement, and the coolest part is that it features DUAL steering. You can steer the back wheels independently of the front which is rad.
Yeah, those are some great games you mention there. I previewed Victory Heat Rally in one of my arcade game videos a little while back, and I hope that does well. Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much! And I totally agree about Super Woden GP 2 and New Star GP - they're both in my new video for 10 arcade racers. Thanks again and cheers for watching!
Hello! Unless there's been an update I'm not aware of, I don't think you can use a wheel, unfortunately. But it does play well on a pad. Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it.
Thank you, I appreciate it. I always hoped there'd be a sequel to Blur. Maybe an indie dev will take on a project along similar lines, because that formula - and four-player split-screen - has definitely got legs. Thanks for watching!

It's my pleasure, thank you. And Daytona USA was awesome back in the day. I used to love going in the arcades with all those cabinets lined up, engines roaring. Great memories.
I really like your suggestions and the fact that you’re an older gent that has responsibilities. I need me some games that won’t affect my responsibilities too 😢much
I know exactly how you feel. Plenty more to come soon that won't require days of annual leave to play and shouldn't cost the earth. Thanks for watching, and welcome to the channel!
You mention Micro Machines, have you tried Toybox Turbos? It's by some of the same devs (and released under Codemasters) but without the Micro Machines license.
Have you tried Wreckfest? I covered it in an earlier video for five underrated games to play in 2024. It's superb, with racing and arena carnage, just like Destruction Derby. You should definitely check it out. Thanks for watching!
You actually have four-player local split-screen, and you can all play against other players online or the AI. The net code is pretty stable now and it's good fun.
You've got individual championships against the AI, using all the different vehicles across several difficulty settings. There's the usual time trial mode, and one silly chunk of DLC that will let you drive three-wheelers and tow caravans around. But really, the local and online multiplayer is where things are most fun in this game.
I used to really quite like Playground. Haven't played that in years. But yeah, I love a blast on Dirt 5 every now and again, especially in split-screen. Thanks for watching!
In Circuit Superstars does the car control from the cars facing direction? Like your turning the wheel in the car itself rather then pressing the stick left makes the car go to the screens left correct? If its not from the cars perspective then meh :-/ Also, you can't run the pit crew over like in Indy Heat?! Sacrilege!
Hello! The control is indeed from the car's perspective. So, if you're coming down the screen, left is right and right is left. But I'm afraid you can't splat the pit crew. They just become ghosts if you try to drive through them. I think there'd be a lot of dead engineers otherwise!
I love Circuit Superstars, but I feel it becomes way too hard, way too quickly. It would be great if there was an option to make it a bit more chill, because that would make it perfect for some relaxed after work session. But it gets to a point where it feels like it’s just trying way too hard for something that is by nature very twitchy. I don’t understand why so many indie developers think everything has to be the “Dark Souls” of a certain genre..
Hello! I do think certain players just got good and ran away with it very early on, to the point where it became almost impossible to take any wins off them online. But if you've got people over, you can play four-player split-screen AND online simultaneously, which can even things up a bit and makes for some superb chaos. Or just keep it local and race against the AI. It's just a shame that there hasn't been the volume of updates that the developer initially seemed to promise. I do hope we see a more fully-featured Circuit Superstars 2 in the not-too-distant future.
I like racing games. A mix between an arcade and sim would be nice. I used to play Colin McRae Rally 2.0 a lot, with a friend, but in that game you must learn the tracks, because the co driver tells you about a curve too late, and there is no f*cking chance to slow down enough to not crash heavily. That's my experience with most driving sims that I've played. They're very punishing and you must learn the tracks. I don't have that much spare time in my life! I don't even play games an hour a week. That's adult life. But my son and I play sometimes when he wants to play and it's not a week day, we play only on weekends. I wish they would remake Fatal Racing. It was a lot of fun! Also, the great archade game Cruis'n USA.
I know exactly what you mean! Cruis'n Blast on the Switch is excellent fun. Also, if you like a bit of arcade rally, there's the recently released #DRIVE Rally on PC, or Rally Rush Origins on the consoles and PC, which is a top-down arcade racer and a lot of fun. Might be worth looking at those.
@@Video_Games_ForeverI don't love how slidy the formula cars are, Formula TOP is a fantastic top down racer f1 game, personally it's my favourite. Real tracks too... too many top down racers go for the stumpy/cutesy vehicle aesthetic. Not a fan
@@msum23 If you're an F1 fan, Formula TOP is a great choice - it looks great and handles well. But as an arcade game, it lacks the knockabout chaos and the four-player local multiplayer that Circuit Superstars features. Ultimately, I think casual players will get more out of CS, but Formula TOP is still a great suggestion if people want some 'proper' top-down racing, so thanks for the tip!
Yeah, they were brilliant. I still play Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament on the Mega Drive to this day - the one that has the two extra controller ports built into the cartridge. Pure gameplay that still stands up to this day. Thanks for watching!
i always feel sad when no one and i mean no one mentions XENON RACER in any compilation of the best arcade racers u can buy on modern platform. I am a huge racing fan and still find that game to be the purest form of arcade racing that both sega and namco left behind, that game is a culture shock amalgamation of what outrun meets ridge racer with a futuristic setting. and the best part ? the game is almost always on sale for under $2, something for a few pennies, it is so good that i got it on ps5 and steam, but avoid the switch version, the game is too much for that platform.
I must admit, Xenon Racer has passed me by. But at the kind of rock-bottom price you describe, it's definitely one I'll take a look at, and thanks for the shout-out.
Yeah, I've been playing that just recently. And the sequel adds a lot of new content and looks incredible - might be taking a closer look at that one in a future video... Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I loved that game in the arcades. The closest thing we have to that on modern machines at the moment, that I'm aware of, is probably Agent Intercept. It's a kind of Spy Hunter/Chase HQ-style action driving game, where you're shooting down helicopters and transforming into a boat or a plane. It's based on a mobile game, but while I haven't played it yet, it looks tidy enough. It's also half-price on the PS Store at the moment, so it could be worth a look.
I just wish the devs of Driveclub, and Motorstorm could just bring us, you know, Driveclub, and Motorstorm - but for PC, and in glorious 4k 60fps. Yeah, I know, licencing, etc....something... It just seems a complete waste that these still-wonderful older games are allowed to rot in a licencing hell, rather than be freed from their 30fps PS4 prison. Luckily, the older PS3 Motorstorm games can be played in the RPCS3 emulator, and also unlocked for 60fps. But native ports would be nicer, and won't melt my PC hardware, like RPCS3 can.
Yeah, it's a serious conversation these days - how do we preserve those all those excellent games that have come before, and get access to those games for new and existing fans? Developers and publishers need to start thinking about digital libraries for posterity, and making a few extra coins, otherwise everyone turns to the emulators and they'll lose control. And I'd love to see Sony bring back the Drive Club and MotorStorm series with a new team. Maybe they can employ some of the poor guys who lost their jobs recently, with yet another failed live service effort?
That's also a good shout. It's had a decent couple of updates since release. I need to revisit the last OutRun they released on the 360, I used to enjoy that, too.
I will not play these arcade racing games. Do not force me to do this. I will not play these five racing games this year. I don't care if I'm not playing these games, I will still not play them. But Hotshot Racing? THAT I will play. It's been a while since I've played it. I don't care if everyone is ignoring RedOut II. I am not playing RedOut II because it is too difficult, especially for a beginner like me.
@@diego2817 I do like GRID, but it's a shame it hasn't evolved much over the years and more tracks weren't added. I'd be really happy to see a proper, current-gen sequel.
Ummm...i would like to replace dirt 5 with Dirt 2...dirt 2 give you a to z all types of off-road experience except those big az tatra-kamaz trucks wgich can be seen in Dirt 1.. Thank you very much for the video... that redout reminds me of ohone game ""Riptide"".. although both are from different worlds ..still...
I really liked Dirt 2. I thought the track design was excellent in that game, especially hammering through the Utah mountains. Redout II is definitely worth a look if you were ever a WipEout fan; it's lightning-fast and the tracks are great fun. Thanks for watching!
im too looking for the next micro machines type game but circuit superstars is not it for me it looks too generic there no creativity in the courses no jumps no obstacles where as Micro machines has you driving on pool tables bridging across rotating corn cobs dodging drills the list goes on and on id love to see a modern game top that
Yeah, I'd love to see those kind of crazy tracks make a return in a new game. I still play Micro Machines 2 to this day. Circuits Superstars is fun in a slightly more serious way, though, especially in multiplayer. You might like Super Woden GP 2, which I covered in one of my other videos recently. In any case, thanks for watching!
Hotshot Racing is very underwhelming and quite disappointing after just 20 minutes of playing it. Such a shame because it has a great look and plays very smooth, but it's surprisingly dull and the cars don't feel particularly distinct from each other, or make much of a difference in races. Redout is a poor man's Wipeout. They copied everything but left out the weapons/pickups... Why? Who wants to play Wipeout without the weapons? Not me. People are ignoring Redout because they're choosing not to play a clone of a better game that neglected to clone one of the most important elements. At least when Grip was launched as a spiritual successor/sequel to the Rollcage games they remembered to add power ups. But honestly, fire up a PS1 or emulator and play Wipeout 2097 and Rollcage 2 and those games both still blow all of these titles in the video out of the water. They might look dated, but the gameplay is still superior.
Hello! Like most racing games, I think Hot Shot Racing and Redout II are better in multiplayer, be that local or online, depending on the available options. I find some of the track design and the stop-start weapons racing in a few WipEout games to be a bit annoying, when I'd rather just race some decent tracks that are built for speed. I haven't played Rollcage 2 for years, but that's a good shout for old school gamers, if they can look past the dated graphics, as you say. There's definitely something for everyone out there, and thanks for watching!

@Video_Games_Forever Will do! Thanks!
@nedim_guitar You're welcome.
Agree about circuit Superstars 1000%
Yeah, such a great game. Really can't wait to see what the team do next. Thanks for watching!
Forgot about Micro Machines. They were quality top down racing games
An extra suggestion: Horizon Chase Turbo. It's good fun.
Yeah, I've been playing that just recently. And the sequel adds a lot of new content and looks incredible - might be taking a closer look at that one in a future video... Thanks for watching!
Peak British humour!
Thank you!
I havent seen inertial drift on any videos
That's a good shout. Totally unique driving style, but once you've got used to it, it's a lot of fun.
Also Mantis Burn racing can be a bit of fun
I'd include Super Wooden II
Super Woden GP 2 is a great game - I've got it in my most recent video for 10 of the best arcade racers.
Thanks for watching!
We need a modern day Chase HQ
Yeah, I loved that game in the arcades. The closest thing we have to that on modern machines at the moment, that I'm aware of, is probably Agent Intercept. It's a kind of Spy Hunter/Chase HQ-style action driving game, where you're shooting down helicopters and transforming into a boat or a plane. It's based on a mobile game, but while I haven't played it yet, it looks tidy enough. It's also half-price on the PS Store at the moment, so it could be worth a look.
@@Video_Games_Forever I shall take a look 👍🏻
Honorable mention: Grip
Yeah, good fun. Looks good.
If you love Top Gear on SNES then you will love Horizon Chase Turbo.
That's also a good shout. It's had a decent couple of updates since release. I need to revisit the last OutRun they released on the 360, I used to enjoy that, too.
I WANT ANOTHER BURNOUT
So do I!
Lol - a talented reviewer indeed
Thank you. And thanks for watching!
why is blud yapping about loveless marriage
Only joking! No dramas here.
I don't think I want any of that penal tea, thank you😜
🤩😍🔥😎
10:45 Fast RMX is much better
I never tried that version. I need to check it out.
Distance for ps5.
I need to try that. Looks good.
Haha! Hey, no pressure. You play what you want, when you want. And enjoy Hot Shot Racing!
I was playing dirt rally, was so fucking difficult that I QUIT, i was not having fun
Understandable, that one can be tough, as I allude to in my intro. Give Dirt 5 a go though, it's much easier.
@@Video_Games_Forever that one is extremely arcade for my taste, the sweet spot for me is Collin mcRae 4.0 or games like older Race Driver Grid
Redout needs to be psvr2 :-(
That would be pretty cool. If you have the stomach for it!
im too looking for the next micro machines type game but circuit superstars is not it for me it looks too generic there no creativity in the courses no jumps no obstacles where as Micro machines has you driving on pool tables bridging across rotating corn cobs dodging drills the list goes on and on id love to see a modern game top that
Yeah, I'd love to see those kind of crazy tracks make a return in a new game. I still play Micro Machines 2 to this day.
Circuits Superstars is fun in a slightly more serious way, though, especially in multiplayer. You might like Super Woden GP 2, which I covered in one of my other videos recently.
In any case, thanks for watching!
Gravel, don't get dirt 5, go play Gravel so underrated
Gravel is also an excellent arcade racer - I cover that in my most recent video.
Graphic is awefull 🤢🤮
Circuit superstars is fabulous!
That's a ten-four. Awesome game. Thanks for watching!
