Great video. Yes the method and "best" coffee is in the eye of the beholder. I do have to chuckle when I see a video of someone packing a ton of equipment in the field for a "perfect" cup of coffee.
Even if coffee noodels has a nice ring to it, I don't seing it being an actual success. If you just give the kettle a quick rinse there will be traces of coffee left so you have to give it a proper washing up if you want to cook something else after without the coffee taste, but there will not be a permanent taste stuck in the pot. Cheers!
You can use very fine ground coffee but it has to be very fine, you add it to warm water and as it heats you stir it in (note the creme) then let it bloom up a couple of times, lifting it off before it goes over, take it off and settle for a minute or two and pour - Greek coffee. Usually one adds sugar before the coffee but it is not essential.
Yes, the Greek coffee. Had it several times and it grows on you, they spice it up with cardamom if memory serves me right. I haven't tried to make it myself but the cups I've been served had a large amount of coffee grounds in them almost to the point where you try to sift it through your teeth! Tastes really good though. Take care and I'll see you around!
@@QuantumMechanic_88 I would guess that among the cowboys you could find quite a few immigrants from Greece, among all the others that came at that time. Not that I can prove it but it seems rather likely. Cheers!
Cowboy coffee and a Yerba mate straw 👌 Mine has a coarse and a fine mesh, so it strains pretty much everything. Is it weird if I prefer making it in a pot than bringing along the kettle? 😂
you have already seen my way of making my coffee 😂 . The taste really differs between cowboy coffee and brewing coffee. But I guess it’s more than the filter. I never uses filter for my brewing coffee, but the taste still differs from cowboy coffee. I guess that the grind also affect the taste. The finer grind the more flavor I guess.
Yes it's a big difference. In my (maybe not that humble) opinion the water temperature makes all the difference. Most coffee brewers is around 70 C so lots of flavors never gets released. The first time I compared my french press and my coffe brewer side by side I ditched the brewer and have never used it since.
I have heard about the temperature. I haven’t own a brewer in almost 20years. If you’re “lucky” you can get coffee made in a brewer that tastes good. With french press you get it every time 😊. But the worst coffee in all categories is coffee that’s held warm on a “varmhållningsplatta” . When I enter the room where the coffee is held warm it starts to rumble in my stomach and I want to leave. 😂
That's really true, specially when you see the pots with some coins on the plate. The content in those pots is more suitable for mending potholes in the road than for human consumption. :)
Great video, thanks. Do you not find even though it's a simple way of getting great coffee with minimal equipment, it's a bit of a faff clearing the kettle compared to just disposing a filter that holds all the coffee grinds, like a V60 or aeropress? Cheers.
Thank you. There's will probably be some grinds in the cup so the last mouthful should be drunk with a bit of caution, but it isn't too bad. The Aeropress makes a good coffee to but not enough for each press, at least not for me. Cheers!

Well said! It's best to keep things simple and to the point. Cheers!
Hello from high desert U.S.A Oregon. Cowboy Coffee is the liquid from the Gods in the mornings for me. Thank you for the good video!
Thank you! A good cup of coffee can really lift ones spirit. Cheers!
Great advice and video Red. Definitely the most flavourful coffee you can get! 😊
Thank you Eugene. Cheers!
Looks great. I’ll try this too!
I hope you like this too. Cheers!
Your English is amazing and lovely coffee
Thank you for your kind words. Cheers!😃
I make it this way every day.
That sounds great, Cheers!
Really good to see it start to finish! Do you find the coffee taste lingers in the kettle? I wouldn't want my pot noodle to taste of coffee!

Yes I use fine grind too in a manner similar to which you have stated. Superb! I don’t go the Greek route tho! 😊
@@RedswedeOutdoors Actual Cowboys have no concept of Greek coffee .

The best coffee I have is the coffee that brewed on camp fire, in wilderness..
I'll second that any day of the week. Cheers!

Not at all. I rarely bring the kettle just for coffee, only if I bring the whole Trangia kit for more serious cooking. Cheers!
This is the way to do it!
Making coffeea lways is a kind of celebration. If it is not, the coffee is not good.
I'll second that!
