What's the big deal? Everybody is allowed to take personal calls at work. I've taken calls in the middle of job interviews, in the middle of one-on-one consultations, during presentations, during important corporate pitches and negotiations. And of course later in my career once I got really successful and had many a lowly up and comer call me up ask if I'd deign to help out with their market stalls on the weekend I'd often stop spruking, turn from my little audience and just talk for 5 minutes with my son on the phone. Do these people know who I am? They're lucky to get my time at all. It's the correct and most respectful way to behave. And just like Mr. King here, it never even occurred to me to apologise for this. You don't need to. It's not rude at all. When Larry King was younger and doing a live broadcast with someone older than himself I'm 100% certain he'd have had no problem at all with someone taking a long personal call and not apologising at all because he'd have known...FAMILY always comes first.

Just want to clarify, Dave Rubin is a classical liberal, not a conservative. He himself claims that. And you can find a video on TH-cam him talking about Larry King. And if I recall correctly, King is his idol because of his interviewing technique.
