Best to Sherman! Hoping for a quick and full recovery! And I agree about this being a very good menu. I remember your zombie apocalypse video featuring the Asian Beef Strips! When I recently reviewed this one it was the FIRST time I'd ever had it. Would not mind having it some more! Cheers!
Nice I want to try one of these myself. Yes very carb heavy, lol that is probably why they put the splenda in the accessory pack. But the meal is more beef chunks rather than beef strips. That meal looks fantastic. I would eat it. Yeah that would be nice to see a true fruit juice powder that isn't colored with dayglo colors. It would be nice to see the freeze dried fruit brought back too. Thanks for the great review.
Glad the pup is feeling better !!!! Awesome meal. I have one here to try soon. 2012 version Ameriqual. LOL, the drink looks like antifreeze. Gotta love all of the artificial colors and dyes. NOT !! All items in the meal, looked highly edible. Beef strips looked awesome friend. Keep up the great work, Peace, John, aka Magnum.
Glad to hear Sherman is ok👍. Just got 3 cases of TOTMs. Let me know if ur looking to try a particular meal and I will do my best to get it to you. I think your from Va. If I'm correct. I'm in Richmond so shipping would be no problem. Thanks for the great vids and keep up the good work my man!
Definitely late to the game on this one, but I'm certainly glad your dog is doing ok after his ACL surgery. Our dog had a total of 3 over a 2-year period (the first one didn't take very well, obviously) but after all that healing time he was absolutely fine. Hopefully your dog is completely done with ACL issues!
Thanks he is doing well, but now the age thing is catching up. We just contracted for some ramps so he can get up from the deck, couch and bed without jumping up or down. Next step is buying house on all one level.....we are all excited about that one, no more dang stairs! HAHA. Cheers
Had that done on a couple of my dogs. Can be a pricey fix. Could they go back to "Tang" the astronauts drink" that we used to use when we went camping as kids? Looked like a good meal choice. Thank you for the review, Gundog.
I hope your pup recovers well. We all love our pets and would rather be in pain than our pets. I do like watching MRE style videos and seeing how other countries do MREs.
Most ration heaters require some type of saline or salt solution to activate the iron and magnesium filings. In the US military FRH the heater pads contain a small amount of salt for the purpose of starting the exothermic reaction. Sometimes the heaters fail because the way the water hits the pads. Dumping in some of the table salt ensures all the water has a greater chance of becoming saline and lighting the FRH off. Hope that helps.
I bought a double case of Ameriqual meals recently and almost all the drinks where Lemon-lime and ALL of the jelly's where Grape. what's up with that? is it just how they pack the cases?
Exactly like that. Whatever they have on hand per contract goes in the bag. So if it says Drink 1 Each, Jam 1 Each and they have a ton of Grape or Lemon-Lime that's what your going to get.
i got that on October 2017 but i didn't like the consistency of the fried rice and mine didn't came with lemon lime beverage base drink, it was the orange beverage base. i gave it a 7 of 10
I'm happy to hear your pup is recovering well. This was the second ration I ever tried. Loved it. That's saying a lot, too, as I typically can't stand any of the veggies in the main. (Crunchy veggies usually make me gag. I hate onions, peppers, etc. Yet love peas, carrots, corn.) Having said that though, the veggies in this didn't bother me at all. Btw gundog, would you like a supply of us FRH's? I have like 20 or 30 saved up. I prefer to boil my rations, as it heats them better. And I'd like someone to have them before they go bad. Just reply here if you do and I'll send them away. I'm sure If you don't need them personally, you'll know someone in the ration review community that could. They're just tucked away in my bug out box, Taking up space that could be better used. So just let me know.
I saw this ration at a militaria fair recently and after watching this I regret not buying this and going with the lemon and pepper tuna ration... you can bet your paycheck im buying these next time!
The menu #22 Asian Beef Strip MRE that I personally tasted some time ago had some pretty nasty, slimy gelatinous rice. I wonder if I cooked the rice wrong, or if the rice was defective in some manner.
The rice is parboiled and not fully cooked as it were. Direct heat, hot heat, seems to do the trick. Next time throw it on your engine block while you drive around town running errands and WAM! It'll be perfect.
Juice would be ideal but they probably use the beverage base mix because its cheaper, more shelf stable, and they can add electrolytes to it easier would be my guess. No packet of hot sauce either hmmm.
I know one guy that does that, he has several reviews. I know some people say I can be slow at times but that guy is really slooowwwwwwww. One purpose no doubt HAHA!
That's not as stupid as it sounds at first glance... because despite the name, a peanut is NOT a nut. It has more in common with beans and peas (it's part of the legume family). However, peanut butter is usually processed on a production line that ALSO processes walnuts, almonds, and other nuts. You can be allergic to one, but not the other. Obviously, anyone allergic to peanuts can't eat peanut butter, but there are also people who are NOT allergic to peanuts, but are allergic to actual nuts. They can only eat peanut butter that is produced on a dedicated production line (that is to say, it does not process anything but peanuts). And THAT is the reason for the "Contains nuts" warning. Peanut butter produced on a dedicated production line will NOT have the "contains nuts" warning, because it doesn't contain nuts! It contains legumes!
Good pup. I got Sherman as a rescue when his owner passed away from cancer. They were just going to put him down because he was a senior dog and a family member couldn't take him. Not on my Watch! He's been a great companion and friend for Alligator.
One of the better rats, for sure. Another vote for better drink powders. The present ones are just awful. The PB is also a great additive for the beef strips, btw. Makes it like Thai Beef.
Why does an MRE contain Splenda instead of sugar? Aren't these meant for members of the military, who have a fitness regime even if their job is behind a desk? You'd think they'd need the calories of real sugar everywhere they can get them. Unless the military is afraid of paying for their rotting teeth when they give them pure sugar cane all the time...?
Well, I *was* going to say it's because Splenda is made with sucralose, which has an indefinite shelf life as long as it's kept dry. But, as it turns out, so does powdered sugar. And it isn't because of price; sucralose is actually more expensive than sugar. Then I was going to say "because it doesn't raise glucose levels". And it doesn't... not right away. But over time it changes the makeup of the gut microorganisms, mainly bacteria, that are in the intestines and help with nutrition and the immune system, resulting in a higher glucose level. So... I honestly don't know. Ever had one of those days when you *thought* you knew the answer, but it turns out you didn't? ;^)
gundog4314 so I just read in the military times that the Natick Labs are rolling out the pizza MRE, and by 2019, both the brisket and Asian beef strips MREs are on the out. Replaced by a beef goulash
Third worse USMRE I've ever had behind Ratatouille and the old Chicken Tetrazzini. Should have included crushed red pepper and soy sauce just so I could choke it down.
I hate this meal! I found the rice to be very under cooked and the main had this very recurrent US Mre taste. I can't explain it but most of them taste roughly the same to me.
The key is to really heat the rice hot, like can't touch the bag hot. Then immediately plate it and pour the main on top...sort of finishes the "cooking" process. Parboiled rice essentially means "partly cooked" by boiling.
Mre openings are the best way to end my night! I was in the hospital today and this made my day!
Hope you are feeling better Sierra. Cheers
Best to Sherman! Hoping for a quick and full recovery! And I agree about this being a very good menu. I remember your zombie apocalypse video featuring the Asian Beef Strips! When I recently reviewed this one it was the FIRST time I'd ever had it. Would not mind having it some more! Cheers!
Good to see you post again! I have rewatched all your episode's just to keep busy!
Thanks Benny!
Great vid again from Mr Gundog. Keep up the good and hard work. All the best from Richard Myatt all the way from England.
Sorry to hear about your dog, here's hoping for a quick recovery.

Thank you, gundog4314 and USMC.
This is the MRE I've always wanted to try. It looks pretty good! Glad to hear Sherman is on the mend! 💗 Can't wait to see your next video!
It is one of my favorites. Cheers B
Looks great. I really want to give a try making some reviews! I've learned so much from you and the others
Great review. Thank you to the troops! Glad Sherman is doing better
Thanks ya silly hairy BLEEP!
Hey Gundog good seeing you. Great review as always looking good. I hope Sherman is doing better. Poor lil guy. Give him some love from all of us:)
Thanks Sharon!
You are so welcome. Looking forward to more:)
That's probably the best main meal I've seen in an MRE. Looked authentic with a quite complex set of ingredients.
My favorite one to date has been the Mexican Chicken Stew menu I reviewed. I really enjoyed that one, this is a close 2nd.
I was going to go to bed, then I got your notification. I guess I'll sleep afterwards.

As always great review Gundog!
You might not be saying that for one of my next projects LOL
As Steve would say when you got that all onto the tray, nice!
I hope your pup recovers well. We all love our pets and would rather be in pain than our pets. I do like watching MRE style videos and seeing how other countries do MREs.
I think someone should send Emmy of Emmy made in Japan this particular menu!
Life is like an MRE you never know what your gonna get except the entree. 😉. Great job!!!
Awww..poor Sherman! ! Rory, Gudetama, and our latest addition Foxy, wish your little guy all the best!
I'm wonder why he putted a salt in ration heater. Does anyone know why?

gundog4314 thank you!
I had this one the other day. Not bad... I enjoyed it.
came here from steve1989, nice vid.
good news for Sherman! I was able to tear open the seal on the halal MRE I did a few months ago
I bought a double case of Ameriqual meals recently and almost all the drinks where Lemon-lime and ALL of the jelly's where Grape. what's up with that? is it just how they pack the cases?

That looks like a good mixture of stuff. Im really anxious to try the Asian style mres
Overall they are simple in design and yet sometimes they are some of the best.
Your cordial bag doesn't stand up by the bottom bit ?
It doesn't, Seems they will use every last one of these things they have in stock before the switch to something with a gusset on the bottom.
would like to try the "chunky" peanut butter and jam on the cookie also !
I like this menu too, but I see they removed it from future mre's :)
G'day mate great video,
I like the peanut paste and jam sanger ( sandwich)
Quite tasty too, but the bread in NZ ORP's and CR1M/PR1M's is waaaaaaaaay superior to the snack bread line.
Another great review

I'm the same way, I have tons of the things. One of my favorite warmers is a cheap food warmer or Hot logic Mini.
Not a lot of stuff in them now. I remember the Katrina Era ones had all kinds of stuff in them.
Brilliant stuff ...and it.s 2 thumbs up from me ,,,,!!,,,, Lin-Lee
Battlefield one and gundog review. Let’s get this out onto a dual monitor. NICE
NICE!!!!
I saw this ration at a militaria fair recently and after watching this I regret not buying this and going with the lemon and pepper tuna ration... you can bet your paycheck im buying these next time!
It is one of my favorites, the other is Mexican Style Chicken Stew. YUM!
Your Lemon lime drink looks like slimer from ghost busters
Paulsgirl28 R It does look like that old Hi-C Etco Cooler, huh?
Metalman200xdamnit I'd totally forgot about ecto cooler. I loved that when I was a kid.
04:50 Toxic Pee Bag....was the first thing that popped into my mind... .
Best comment of the vid HAHA!
I know right?
Awesome review!!
Glad Sherman is doing better!!! He is a cutie!!!!

Poor Sherman! I tore my MCL back in May and it's still not 100%. I know how the little guy feels.
aww sherman. hope the little guy gets better soon. poor pup 😟
Yummy
I think the Toxic Green confused you with crayons there Sarge ;-)
LycanthropiesSpell I'm always confused
Hey, great review! Do you think adding salt to the RHF really helps?
Looks pretty good
That I would totally eat!!
Finally someone who calls it jam!
Read it right off the packet this time LOL
gundog4314 Say what was the name of the music in the begining?
Juice would be ideal but they probably use the beverage base mix because its cheaper, more shelf stable, and they can add electrolytes to it easier would be my guess. No packet of hot sauce either hmmm.
I would have liked to see some of the crushed red pepper thats in some of the MREs to spice it up.
Still waiting for that ASMRMRE channel
I know one guy that does that, he has several reviews. I know some people say I can be slow at times but that guy is really slooowwwwwwww. One purpose no doubt HAHA!
flavored by oyster flavored oyster sauce. talk about redundancy department of redundancy!
And caramel colouring in the rice for what reason I have no idea.
They were obviuosly out of Tan and Coyote Brown... .
LOL! And people wonder why the heck we want less government HAHA!
Bested by the stupidity of “Contains nuts” as a warning on a jar of peanut butter.

rice and oatmeal cookie 😋
That drink looks like it can glow in the dark!
good old mre
I thought you were going to add the peanut butter to the main, to see if making it Thai style was better. Maybe next time.
That would have been good too....perhaps next time I snag one of these.
I am sorry to hear about about your dog.and say hi to him for me.
He says snore, snore Cheers!
Our dog 🐶 is 18 next month a rescued she is dreading when the day comes
Good pup. I got Sherman as a rescue when his owner passed away from cancer. They were just going to put him down because he was a senior dog and a family member couldn't take him. Not on my Watch! He's been a great companion and friend for Alligator.
My dog that I adopted was a smart dog . She was killed by a guy that owned a slaughter house because he said that she ran his prized bulls down.
radioactive green drink !!!
Fallout style
AHHH ....... That explains it ...... :)
One of the better rats, for sure. Another vote for better drink powders. The present ones are just awful. The PB is also a great additive for the beef strips, btw. Makes it like Thai Beef.
Mmmm like peanut sauce. Ingenious.
I see on your Instagram that Sherman is doing well, no more cone of shame.
Poured over rice this main dish is pretty good.
Takes one bite of the main?
Guess it wasn’t that good!
I had already had this menu several times. It's one of the better ones at least in my opinion. Cheers J
WHAT... No sugar!... I wouldn't be a happy little Jar-Head!
Video starts 7:59
I think that is a glitch

Came here to Drink
😎👋🏻👍🏻
Easily one of the worst MRE entrees currently offered...
Would rather have the Ratatouille one. .
That's exactly why they have to have such a broad range of menus, I feel the same about ratatouille as you do about asian beef strips Cheers Khaos!
gundog4314 so I just read in the military times that the Natick Labs are rolling out the pizza MRE, and by 2019, both the brisket and Asian beef strips MREs are on the out. Replaced by a beef goulash
Third worse USMRE I've ever had behind Ratatouille and the old Chicken Tetrazzini. Should have included crushed red pepper and soy sauce just so I could choke it down.
Tried it. Epic nasty
Walk up and down hills for twenty miles in the rain and I bet it would taste pretty darn good LOL! Cheers Tom
asmre
awsome video can i ask you to look at my stuff buddy
coment 10
Sure, will check em out
WoW, please look up what ASMR means!
I honestly would rather forget about the wheat snack bread. Just terrible imo.
Yeah, I always liked the old shelf stable bread from the 80's/90's, looks like its finally coming back around again.
Why can't they just stop using artificial colors?
I hate this meal! I found the rice to be very under cooked and the main had this very recurrent US Mre taste. I can't explain it but most of them taste roughly the same to me.

This mre tastes like an asian person ate asian food and shit in an mre food bag, threw in a peanut butter packet, called it a day
I don't know why but the oyster sauce flavoured oyster free oyster sauce gave me the giggles... Yay insomnia!
