"don't you dare go hollow" always caught my attention but i never truly see what it stands for until you just said it. Thanks a lot, your voice is appreciated)))
Genuinely a solid list. Lots of underappreciated gems! I've watched so many of these where more than half of the list is just Final Fantasy games/JRPGs or 1st person shooters.
PRAISE THE SUN My top 10: 1. Bloodborne 2. Elden Ring 3. Dark Souls III 4. Batman: Arkham City 5. Team Fortress 2 6. Red Dead Redemption II 7. Star Wars: Battlefront II (OG) 8. Mafia II 9. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga 10. The Wolf Among Us
Interesting list. Atmosphere is such an underrated aspect if game design and has probably been my favorite aspect since I first played RE4 as a 1st grader.
Brutal Legend deserves credit especially for including a Mirrorthrone song. So Cold isn't my favorite but still crazy that it got into a game (listen to Carriers of Dust if you're reading this).
Even though i think this game is very underrated i still love it signalis it's a game like old school survival horror like silent hill and resident evil the atmosphere is perfect and the puzzles are very well designed 👌 and the story while confusing at times is still a highlight of the game if you are a fan of horror signalis is such a great game 🎮 😀
Glad to see some of my faves like DS,DR2,MM and Infamous, but also see some that always wanted to play but never got to it. 6-7th gen titles were peak entertainment, and my gaming this days consists of playing all those games I couldn’t before
Nice too see the Star Wars episode 3 video game get some love, came in that time were a lot of memorable Star Wars video games were being made and such. I always kind of thought the game was a bit more fun than the more modern Mortal kombat games like MKX and MK11
I guess I'm the old boomer here, but the majority of my favorite games are from the 90s: A Link to the Past, Mario 64, Final Fantasy 7, Resident Evil, Quake, Ultima Online, EarthBound. As far as modern games go I do love all the Souls games, but Bloodborne and Elden Ring are my favorites. I've also spent an insane amount of time with Dwarf Forterss and although it is a newer game, it looks like something that came from the early 80s.
Thanks for this video I discover new games, I never played Infamous just Infamous second son because for some reason are not in ps4 so I will try find another way to play the original.
Soo glad you added Alice in Chains, I mean Alice Madness Returns. That game doesn't get enough recognition it deserves. And Sadly Alice: Asylum won't happen because EA are a**holes.
May be the best top 10 I've seen in a long while even though I played only 3 of these games. My top 10 is totally different tho: 1. UsoNatsu: The Summer Romance Bloomed From a Lie 2. Mirror's Edge Catalyst 3. Dragon Quest XI S 4. Mass Effect 1-3 5. Fallout 3/NV/4 6. Broken Reality 7. Hypnagogia: Boundless Dreams 8. Spiritfarer 9. Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen 10. idk maybe Batman: Arkham games
Unfortunately my first experience with DR1 was the awful Wii port, and I maybe didn't give it a fair enough chance after that. Mostly agree to disagree between the first two games. Though DR3 and 4 seem kinda bad, especially 4. Uncharted 2 is the best Uncharted, but no Uncharted game made the list, I just compared it to Infamous and Vanquish.
@@Revealingstorm. Oh that makes more sense. I strongly disagree though, haha. While the second Infamous does make SOME improvements, overall I think it's a worse game. I was actually considering making a video on it. It seems to get more praise than the first, and I don't really understand why. No hate to you liking it, I did have fun with it, but I think it messed up a lot of what was great about the original.
I liked Bloodborne but I never cared for it as much as Dark Souls. I think the later games: Bloodborne, DS3, and Elden Ring started to become a bit "samey". These three are very similar, just with a different coat of paint. Still great games, but the original Dark Souls just hits different for me.
@@willfern1096 I just mean compared to the early games. Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and DS2 (For better and for worse) all are very distinct. The newer games all have this weird sense of Deja Vu. The biggest issue I have is the boss fights though. They are less unique in the later games. Elden Ring being the most guilty, as it literally repeats the same bosses.
@@whatsinameme5258 I actually have my problems with the boss designs in elden, but considering how much you are able to skip if you want... still a good critic tho. My biggest problem with the ER boss designs it's that they DON'T FUCKING STOP, some weapons feels insanely hard to use by how much little opening to attacks you have, not to count the late game damage that pains me a lot. Still 10/10 by how much you can broken it and diverse builds and paths you can do.
@@willfern1096 Yes that's my issue with all the post-DS2 games. The bosses just got crazy hard, but unfair. The early games bosses were hard, but fair. Having 2 or 3 phase boss fights with deliberately fake openings and six arms flailing around that hurt you no matter what you do is more annoying than challenging. It incentivizes cheesing the fights, rather than improving and playing more strategic. I definitely agree with the bosses not stopping. Elden Ring is the most egregious with this. But I think the seeds of the problems with Elden Ring were already present in DS3 and Bloodborne. It's too bad the fanbase complained about "Gimmick fights" too much. I'll take Micolash over the Godskin Duo anytime. Dark Souls had Sif and Priscilla, meanwhile, DS3 has a DLC with a hyper fast and hard hitting wolf that looks like Sif, and a 3 phase boss fight with Goth Priscilla. The latter is more "challenging" but the former is more memorable. I'm still looking forward to Shadow of the Erdtree, but I fear it'll be more of the same.
Have you ever played Twisted Metal? That is one of my favourite games series. Also the original soundtrack for 2012 is my favourite metal soundtrack in a game.
@@whatsinameme5258 I'd recommend Head On and 2012. Head On is much easier than the previous games and 2012 has a tutorial (the other games don't) and streamlined some mechanics though it is way harder than Head On. Head On has two versions, PSP and PS2. The PS2 version runs at 60fps and has more content, but it messed up the final boss and ruined the napalm by making it too overpowered. I don't recommend the first few games as a beginner, they have aged. Twisted Metal Black is my favourite game in the series, but is brutal for a newcomer, I'd recommend you play 2012 and Head On first. Sorry for the long comment, but hopefully you know now everything you need to know.
I don't hate them or anything, they are a good Proto-Metal band. But when I first played Brutal Legend as a teenager, I was thinking: "What's with all the Hair Metal and Classic Rock? Where's Pantera and Avenged Sevenfold?"

I saw Alice: Madness Returns on the thumbnail and knew this would be good

2.5-D is exactly what they call that. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate Edition is another example of a 2.5-D game.

Will you ever do a top 10 movies/shows list?
I would definitely do a movie list. TV shows would be harder unless its a short list.
Based on your list i can't recomend you Disco Elysium enough.
It's a deeply political and social game, you should definetly play it.
Oh yeah baby these were and are some of my favorite video games.

6-7th gen titles were peak entertainment, and my gaming this days consists of playing all those games I couldn’t before
I agree. 6-7th Gen was top tier. 8-9th Gen has been rather underwhelming. I think there's more remakes than original games now.

I bought a PS3 back in the day just so that I could play Brutal Legend. The PC port came many years later
YES!!!! Dead Rising 1 and 2 are the best zombie games made. Perfect balance of gameplay, humour, and atmosphere
Great taste, SOTC, Souls, LBP, Platinum Games, doesn't like RTS. Throw a few shooters in there and that's my list
