This helped me so much with my G35 intermittent overheating when AC turned on in 95-100 degree heat. Just ordered replacement dual fan assembly for $90. WOW solid advice. Thanks bro!
if it werent for this video my car would of been still sitting on the drive way, my fans were kicking on but they were very slow and it was causing the car to overheat slightly after watching this video i knew what the problem was. thank you, thumps up!
Thanks for the video. It would have been really a great video if some of the missing information was added like say..... 1. Video of the Motor Replacement 2. Scan tool model that was used. 3. Part number for the motors and where you bought them from. Small but important details. I spent some time on google, but still hasn't come across where to get these motors from. Never-the-less, great video on troubleshooting this common issue.
I have the exact same issue with my nissan maxima. Im going to get mines replaced as soon as the new fan motors arrives. Thank you very much for the information you provided in this video.
The same thing is happening to my car right now! 😭😭😭 this video helped me solve my problem now I gotta see where to take it. But I have a question what if your ac is blowing hot air to?
Has it blowing hot air for while or recently ? Most of the time, when you blow hot air, is due to low freon/no freon (leak) or blend doors stuck in the hot position or compressor not working. Not quite sure if faulty motors can cause that kind of symptom. I would recommend checking your low and high side pressures to verify if your low on freon.
My friend , my left fan (ac ) turns on by hand only , like the video , the right one never turns on .Switched connectors same thing happens . Faulty fan motors right ?
Most likely faulty motors. U can use two jumper wires and directly apply 12 volts to the motor and see if it spins, if no spin, confirms 100% faulty motor.
I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima , my car doesn’t overheat but ion think my fans turn on at all car temp stays right in the middle and I never hear the fans or ion think I do . What could be the problem , I read you comment to unplug the temp sensor and it will kick fans on . & my ac doesn’t work atm cuz no Freon in it so idk if there is a problem with my fans .
If you believe that they don't turn on. Try disconnecting the Engine Coolant Temp sensor to see if they come on. If they don't, you may have faulty fan motors, faulty ECT sensor, maybe faulty fan relay, blown fan fuse or some type of electrical problem.
@@EliTheOBDTech I swapped out the relays but I’ll try to disconnect the sensor and see if they turn on . I just never hear them I was told that they turn on when they are needed and I haven’t had ac so I never turn the ac on what
@@jonnnn4895 Best thing at this point, is to unplug the ect sensor and see if they kick on. Another way, is to use two jumper wires connected to battery + and -, and manually check each motor fan with the harness connector disconnected.
@@EliTheOBDTech I’ve unplugged the sensor and they do turn on . And i got a code for the sensor after unplugged it but how will I know if the sensor is no good ? If it didn’t give code at first. And soon I will be getting the hard ac line and getting it filled so it should turn on high to help the ac Correct ?
@@jonnnn4895 Yeah, by unplugging any sensor, you will always get a code, that is normal. I believe that your sensor is good. You will have to do a test drive of 8-10 mins and then come back and idle the vehicle with the hood open and see if your fans turn on. Yes, fans should turn on high with the AC ON.
I changed water pump , thermostats and can’t find any leaks but my car is heating up at stop lights and going back down as I drive again , fans sound like they are on .. any idea ??
Good job! I am having similar problem with the temperature rising then returning back to "normal" temperature. Fans are working fine so I was hoping you had other videos or suggestions on what to look at next?
Miguel Gutierrez Perhaps a faulty thermostat that is not operating normally at moments. Radiator that can be partially clogged and not allowing normal flow. A faulty radiator cap.
Hey buddy, I have a 01 and I noticed the fans aren’t working right (I removed a fuse of the fan number 1 and the main fan works fine but when I put the fuse back on, it starts rattling like crazy. From what I’m seeing here, those fans that aren’t working properly and are causing that car to overheat sporadically. Could also the fans be a factor of why the car suddenly shut off by itself mostly when it idling? It starts to rev up by itself till it gets to a point where it just dies. Sometimes happens while I’m on the highway (the majority of the light tries to turn on and sometimes blink). I thought it was the throttle sensor cause of the abrupt rev up but I replaced it last December 2018. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance for the help and God bless.
But that’s the thing, my car isn’t overheating at all. So that’s why I’m assuming since the fans aren’t working properly, those are the cause of this car shutting off when idling
@@ragh91 I'm pretty sure that the fans are not the cause for your car shutting off. Check your throttle body to see if it's dirty. Since your idle is behaving abnormal, you might need an idle relearn.
Hey there, I'm not 100% quite sure, but I do believe that both fans should kick in at the same time without a/c on. I will look into it and I will update you.
@@EliTheOBDTech thank you. When a/c is off 1 fan is running. When a/c is on 2 fans is running. I used to remember that 2 would run even if a/c is off. But maybe the colder weather has some to do with it, Been looking in the FSM and it doesn't specify.

Hi i have a 03 nissan 2.5 and it only overheats at highway speeds and spills coolant thru the overflow tank, i cant find any leaks and it doesnt overheat in traffic or driving in the city, i hope you can help me out thanks
You may have a partial clogged radiator that can't keep up with the water flow under higher pressure. Other items can be a radiator cap or a thermostat that's acting up at moments, not opening all the way when it needs to.
I'm not familiar with the g35 radiator fan housing design, but if you're lucky you only need to disconnect the upper radiator hose in order to remove the fan housing. Will only lose small amount of coolant when disconnecting the upper hose.
Salvador Villanueva I would try to test it first by putting direct battery voltage into the fan connector. get two wires and put one on the positive battery post and the second wire on the negative battery post and connect each wire to the fan connector and see if the fan spins. if it doesn't, then you will need to buy a new fan motor.

+Eli TheOBDTech are both fan motors supposed to come on at the same time on a 350Z 2006?
