Can I just leave a little fun fact here: I actually had dinner with Jennifer Egan (author of Candy House), while I was doing my internship and she was doing her booktour and she is absolutely lovely!!
I would love a video talking about how you travel with or send books back and forth! Also tip for shipping books in the US: ship them as “media mail” and it’s dirt cheap. It’s a special categorization to ship books and other media at a discounted rate!
I LOVE everytime that you record yourself packing your stuff to go to a trip or organizing things like this bc is so chaotic but so relatable and idk it feels so intimate to see someone’s thought process and I really appreciate that❤️✨
I seriously don’t know how people decide what order to read in! My decisions are based upon my mood after what I’ve just read and I can’t imagine thinking 4 books ahead 😂
Jack makes me feel so much better about my book anxiety. Like yes, there are 30 books I want to read. Yes, there is a specific order in which I want to read them… this is essential and that’s not weird! Also he’s just adorable so he’s my internal monologue always.
Reading 'A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing' right now. It's not bad, but don't be deceived by the short length! This book has taken me a long time to read because the sentence structure is NOT typical: broken English, lack of punctuation, etc. I've basically had to read every sentence twice before moving onto the next sentence in order to get the meaning. This also makes the book best for reading in big chunks, not just a few pages here and there. The patience is paying off, but just prepare yourself for some tricky prose. (EDIT) ... And all this besides the VERY heavy subject matter. It's a challenging read!
So true! I started reading it a few days ago and I was so confused, I’m guessing it’s meant to be stream of conscious-y and childlike at the start, but it’s difficult to get through. Seems to be rewarding though because now I kinda figured it out I’m hooked.
Jack always gets me so excited about these books! I dropped quite a few dollars the past few days on books! I started with a goal of 25 books for 2023 but already had reached 30 and still have more I want to buy and read! Thank you for helping me get back in the mood to read.
JACK I just finished If We Were Villains and it was WONDERFUL. You being a Shakespeare lad will get even more out of it, but the writing is so sumptuous as well. Would be a perfect autumn read.
Trust is an amazing book! I highly recommend moving it higher up in your TBR pile. The first section of the book seems as if the resurrected ghost of Edith Wharton penned it. But then everything gets turned on its head. Then you keep peeling the layers away to get at the truth and the ending is stunning. Reading Diaz's writing is an absolute pleasure in every respect.
lapvona, our wives under the sea and the rabbit hutch were some of my absolute favourite books from last year, i hope you enjoy them when you get round to them!
I love these type of videos so much - I've been binge watching them quite a lot the past few weeks! Can' wait to watch this and see you read these throughout the year Jack!
In the Dream House was my favourite book of 2022, and Detransition, Baby was one of my top books in 2021. Looking forward to reading some of the other books on your cart!
I'm reading Anne of Green Gables now. One goal is to read 6 classics by women. This is the second. First was a rant. Loved Lessons in Chemistry last year. And I'm super excited for Jennifer Saint's next one as well.
I imagine in the next few years that you will buy an old chateau in France and refurb it and make a grand library to store all your books. Which ever is the largest book you need to read you should save for the trip back to NYC since the flight is so long.
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow was one of my favourite reads in 2022! I went into it knowing nothing about it besides the fact that it's a new Gabrielle Zevin novel (I loved The Storied Life of AJ Fikry) and it took me in completely even though I'm not into video games at all. It was just a beautiful, realistic portrayal of love, friendship and loss.
I feel like my brilliant friend can be read in spring! I hate that version of alone with you :((( also I could never do this as a mood reader like organise like this without knowing how I’m going to feel in the moment
I can't wait for you to read Build Your House Around My Body, a lot of the girlies on GoodReads didn't like it but it was my favourite thing I read last year.
I also prefer physia books, but honestly your life and travels would be so much easier if you got a kindle. Kindle books also are cheaper even by a few dollars
Half your TBR has just become my TBR 😆 (I'm also dying to hear your opinion of Young Mungo because that was my favourite book of 2022, and it's a very strong contender for favourite book of all time ♡)
After you read your tbrs, how do you determine which to pass off to friends and which to keep in your library? (Apologies in advance if you have answered this many, many times.)
Cannot wait for you to read Yolk by Mary H.K. Choi. It was one of my favorites last year and it definitely stuck with me. Also Lessons In Chemistry- I bought the UK cover bc it’s sooo much better than the US one
I'm interested to hear what you think about the School for Good Mothers. It was the last book I read in 2022, and I didn't really like it. Absolutely hated the ending, actually. Other than that, I'm excited for most of these books, 90% of the books i've read/bought recently are recommendations by you lol
I love these videos but I always just wish his trolley had deeper shelves because I always feel like they are gonna fall off. Lol also am I the only one that puts books in order from right to left instead of left to right? That way the cover you see is the first one and if you pull them out and put them in a stack they will still be in order.
I feel the whole aesthetic filming dilemma so much🤣at uni i have these beautiful white walls and just lots of space but at home everything is dark, wooden and cramped
Seeing this stops me from buying more books or checking any out from the library lol I'm forcing myself to finish the few I already had before I allow myself to buy or even look 👀at anymore books lol 😂
Jack in his “Candy from the trolley, dears?” Era is a delight. Organisation is best when someone else accomplishes it.
*anything from the trolley, dears
"Organization is best when someone else accomplishes it.", wow word indeed. Getting the mental clarity without the work lol
jack: "although i am a mood reader "
also jack: not only has a tbr, but sets the order of the tbr
Can I just leave a little fun fact here: I actually had dinner with Jennifer Egan (author of Candy House), while I was doing my internship and she was doing her booktour and she is absolutely lovely!!
the more he's showing us books to read, the more i'm going to have to buy cause they seem interesting
Same, my wallet is shaking of terror
Same lol. My TBR is huge now because I found Jack last year, and with every video, I get at least 6 new books I want to read.
Same 😂
Omg SAME!!! I love the titles, covers, and how he talks about them.
@@rachel5399same LMFAO
I always have a weird ego trip whenever I see books that I’ve read and he hasn’t😂
Jack is literally my comfort youtuber, and i was feeling down then i saw this video and i immediately felt better :)
Same here!!
:)
I would love a video talking about how you travel with or send books back and forth! Also tip for shipping books in the US: ship them as “media mail” and it’s dirt cheap. It’s a special categorization to ship books and other media at a discounted rate!
Could be fun to buy shelf dividers that you can label with the events/trips/vibes you are pairing the books with
I’m so excited you have Anne of Green Gables in your pile. Anne is such a lovely character and I love her so much. ❤️❤️❤️
I LOVE everytime that you record yourself packing your stuff to go to a trip or organizing things like this bc is so chaotic but so relatable and idk it feels so intimate to see someone’s thought process and I really appreciate that❤️✨

obsessed with the way you put like fifty books on the trolley and were then like "right so that'll get me to march"
I loved Yolk so much. I hope you enjoy it and talk about it a lot.

Nice..that is a good beginning of the year
JACK I just finished If We Were Villains and it was WONDERFUL. You being a Shakespeare lad will get even more out of it, but the writing is so sumptuous as well. Would be a perfect autumn read.
Amazing travel and reading plans! Looking forward to the content 👌🏻
Secret Life of Addie Larue is a GREAT NY book!
The vlog of New York books in New York is an excellent idea!!
Ooooh, YES @ Lapvona!!!! One of my fave books of '22. Can't wait to see that video!!
I love seeing other people sort their TBR carts, fab content! I've just booked a bunch of Hay festival tickets and i'm so excited!
Trust is an amazing book! I highly recommend moving it higher up in your TBR pile. The first section of the book seems as if the resurrected ghost of Edith Wharton penned it. I'm reading Things We Lost in the Fire right now in both English and Spanish. It's incredible
The books on the top shelf being tilted is SCARING ME. They could topple at any moment!
lapvona, our wives under the sea and the rabbit hutch were some of my absolute favourite books from last year, i hope you enjoy them when you get round to them!
Omg so excited to see the return of Monsieur Jacques Édouards! I really missed him a lot.
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Things we lost in the fire and My brilliant friend!! This tbr looks amazing 🤩
May I ask why you want to read Anne of Green Gables in Scotland? Just wondering, because it’s set in PEI, Canada!
You're going to love your trip to Korea! I'd love to go back very soon! Loved every second of it!
I love these type of videos so much - I've been binge watching them quite a lot the past few weeks! Can' wait to watch this and see you read these throughout the year Jack!
Trust would also be a really good one to read in New York! It's set in 1920's New York City and has strong Manhattan vibes!
In the Dream House was my favourite book of 2022, and Detransition, Baby was one of my top books in 2021. Looking forward to reading some of the other books on your cart!
A tbr trolley is such a good idea! My tbr books are currently in a crate, so I always have to dig around to find anything.
I'm reading Anne of Green Gables now. One goal is to read 6 classics by women. This is the second. First was a rant. Loved Lessons in Chemistry last year. And I'm super excited for Jennifer Saint's next one as well.

Sending love for when you have to read colleen hoover, truly sacrificing your sanity for content❤️
jack's uk videos>>>>>>>>>>>>
I loved Lessons in chemistry, too!
I’m currently reading this and it’s amazing !
I still have you engrained in my head as the hummus guy
You have to read Do Not Say We Have Nothing! It’s such an incredible family drama that’s truly heart wrenching. Perfect for Sad Girl Winter
Can’t wait to see what the reviews turn out to be!
Eager to hear your thoughts on Elizabeth Strout ❤ I got on a kick reading her books this year, and found them so tender.
Your video's truly feels like hanging out with a good friend
I feel like my brilliant friend can be read in spring! I hate that version of alone with you :((( also I could never do this as a mood reader like organise like this without knowing how I’m going to feel in the moment
Jack saying night bitch has made my day 🤣🤍
i adorrreeed in the dream house. It's absolutely beautiful. I'm sure you'll like it too!
Oh my god, A Certain Hunger was one of my favourites of 2022 I hope you get to it eventually.
The maidens is my favourite book of all time. Please read it as soon as you can
Ooooh jack is going to Korea!! I see those books a lot here but haven’t bought them yet…I’ll wait for your review!
Can’t wait to hear what you think about The invisible life of Addie larue!
If you are in it the video becomes immediately beautiful and aesthetic ♥️ but also as usual great books recommendations so I loved it
OMG! Well done Jack looks amazing ❤
You have to read Addie LaRue in NYC!! Trust me!! A little bit slow at first, but beautiful book and message
Yolk was pretty good. It’s one of the few books that had me tearing up a bit.
Do I see a Korea trip coming up in the future? Those books were definitely a small hint, looking forward to that!!
I definitely need to get myself a TBR cart. When a publisher sends an ARC are you not supposed to read/review it before the book publishes?
If you’re going to read Candy House please read A Visit from the Goon Squad, also by Egan. Its a classic at this point
a girl is a half-formed thing is amazing. i read it for a special topic class on #metoo and modern irish literature.
You have no idea how much I look forward to every video on your main and second channel
I have the exact same trolley for my graphics TBR, I love it !
Excuse you a literal TBR trolley in the order you want to read them is ALL AESTHETIC.
Expectations set and met. 🙌🙌
I added some of these books to my list! :)
I can't wait for you to read Build Your House Around My Body, a lot of the girlies on GoodReads didn't like it but it was my favourite thing I read last year.
Omg trolley! That’s so cute! Cuter than cart
I loved beach read i really hope you like it too.
I also prefer physia books, but honestly your life and travels would be so much easier if you got a kindle. Kindle books also are cheaper even by a few dollars
Still patiently patiently waiting for your 2022 roundup and faves
Half your TBR has just become my TBR 😆 (I'm also dying to hear your opinion of Young Mungo because that was my favourite book of 2022, and it's a very strong contender for favourite book of all time ♡)
Do you have a list of these somewhere??
I don't know if this was your train of thought or not, but Anne of Green Gables is set in Canada, not Scotland!
"thoughts are being thunk" is the moto of my life
Love these videos so much ❤❤❤
Lapvona is simply amazing
Omg the best vid to lighten up my day ❤
happy new year! :)
After you read your tbrs, how do you determine which to pass off to friends and which to keep in your library? (Apologies in advance if you have answered this many, many times.)
Nightbitch is so good! Extremely weird and maybe a bit overly long, but very very good
Looking forward for your review of Seven Moons Of Maali Almeda...As a Sri Lankan and as a huge lover of the book anddd as a huge fan of you.
1:48 same, jack. same
Cannot wait for you to read Yolk by Mary H.K. Choi. It was one of my favorites last year and it definitely stuck with me. Also Lessons In Chemistry- I bought the UK cover bc it’s sooo much better than the US one

I'm intrigued. Why Anne of Green Gables? Why in Scotland? Tbf Anne of GG (and the rest) were joyous childhood reads x
Read Addie La Rue! V.E. Schwab’s writing is so engrossing and beautiful
I need to start reading the books on my physical tbr instead of buying new ones
Nothing more relatable, from one nomad to another, than your childhood bedroom being full of random shit 😂
I love these videos but I always just wish his trolley had deeper shelves because I always feel like they are gonna fall off. Lol also am I the only one that puts books in order from right to left instead of left to right? That way the cover you see is the first one and if you pull them out and put them in a stack they will still be in order.
I feel the whole aesthetic filming dilemma so much🤣at uni i have these beautiful white walls and just lots of space but at home everything is dark, wooden and cramped
at this point i need a childhood bedroom tour 😹
This is so fancy compared to my tbr pile on my bed 🤩🤩
OMG JACK I HOPE I GET TO SEE YOU AT THE HAY FESTIVAL!!
Thinking of buying all my TBR books all at once like you :P though I don't have a trolley lol
What about the "All the books i read last year" Video like every year 🥺
It’s coming!!!
Detransition Baby would be great for the New York video!
Ah yes, putting books in order (and then changing it every time) is also my hobby 😂
Seeing this stops me from buying more books or checking any out from the library lol I'm forcing myself to finish the few I already had before I allow myself to buy or even look 👀at anymore books lol 😂
Hi, I know you're probably not going to see this ,but do you have any books you are looking forward to that are coming out this year?
