But it was pointless going to a committee room in another ward only to be sent back to the ward I live in so the local councillors organised their own sessions.

So the FPTP voting system offers exclusively the choice between Tories and Labour. No nuances at all. What 's happening when these two parties went together, in hand in hand, to vote for Brexit for instance. Who stood against ? LD and SNP. These parties need rewarding and recognition. Tactical voting is too simple and submissive and is the best guarantee for these two "opposite" parties of a winning seat. Why do you think Brexit has become a prescribed topic, swiftly swept under the carpet? Do not expect too much of these elections.
I have been a Labour supporter my whole life but the only way to get rid of the tory here is to vote tactically for the LibDem so I held my nose having been so disappointed with them during the cameron era, And voted hoping that they might make a better opposition.

I'm in a Tory/SNP seat and Sir John Curtice has said that those 6 seats will depend on whose vote share falls the most. It would be best if we reverted to a LD/Tory battle, so I have voted LD as the SNP are toast round here. The MRPs reckon that we will stay Tory.

If I replaced the badge on the front of your van with the label of a different manufacturer, would that mean it should now be referred to as the badge that I put on it or would you say it’s just a badge? That is exactly what Sir Bliar Starmer did and yet tens of millions of people argue that because it says Labour that it must be Labour. All I can say is that you Britons deserve your governments as much as you do eachother.
On policies alone i'm somewhere between Lib Dem and Green, but there was no shennanigans where I live and the local Labour MP is relatively competent / high profile. There's zero chance of a Tory or Reform candidate winning here. Nobody even bothered campaigning here, not seen a single leaflet or poster; weird - as when everyone was agreeing with Nick it was a 3 way marginal with about 1000 votes or so between 1st and 3rd.

I voted Labour again. If they don't get things I think they should in this term. The membership goes and next time it's Green. Do you think Green is the new socialist party?
Definitely the most socialist party with any significant support!
The problem is that the country is in such a mess now, that it'll be extremely difficult to turn that around in 4 years, with almost no money...
Not if you live in Ireland. A bunch of right wing treacherous, hypocritical liars. The UK Green Party may be different!

Taking those online political leaning tests should be made mandatory prior to polling days. Too many people are partizan and have very little information when voting.
That’s actually a really interesting concept. Instead of voting you answer 20 questions and your answers are matched to your most suited political party
@@vanmantalks Exactly mate 👍
Could be a dangerous path to go down but I’ve thought about it myself a lot lately.
Hard to do without any bias but could be simple like being able to name the candidates in your seat or something like that?
Thank you for supporting shariah
Brilliant. I'm lucky, I live in pavillion and I'll carry on green but I did have to think hard about choosing labour.
I miss having that easy choice Sian Berry will be great I’m sure. Caroline when in parliament was a well needed voice and Sian will be too
Just voted Green in North Somerset. I was umming and ahhing over voting Labour to help ensure the Tories don't win the seat, but I just went with my heart at the last second.
I’ve gone green
Same. Some people have to think about keeping Labour progressive with outside pressure in the long run. Labour's attracting centre-right votes so progressives can afford to show dissatisfaction with Labour's current platform.
@@danksheev66 My Labour candidate's socialist, I think everyone else with this mindset should check their candidate's politics, and utilise the website "they work for you" to see their voting records.
@@ProsecutorZekrom Oh I agree, do that it's just hard to always cover all based with messaging, don't worry. :)
Go to 'stop the Tories. vote' and see who is best in your area to beat them.
Count bin face for the win
My mate's daughter is our Green candidate, lovely person. I know the independent guy too,he's a fearless lad but round here it's got to tactical.
There's a job to be done.
we carry a possible burden now vanman , in lending starmer a vote , the burden of shame , we usually give habitual tory voters and what their party do , will starmer give us cause to think , i voted for this ,
its not as if it is owt new either i gave blair my vote he invaded iraq , my vote helped that happen
It is always a leap in the dark!
I voted Labour too where I live as it was once a swing seat but Labour won here in the past two general elections. I stayed in the ward for the day whereas I used to make my way to a committee room in the next ward. There are three committee rooms and I live more or less the same distance from each of them. But it was pointless going to a committee room in another ward only to be sent back to the ward I live in so the local councillors organised their own sessions.
If the Greens have a chance vote for them.
Everyone in the polling station was so happy! It was weird! Lol. They were smiling, people saying hello, thanks for voting. I've not seen so many teeth. I had a feeling that it could be a Election: The Musical by evening. Full on dancing and and singing. I had the feeling a lot of people have been waiting a long time for this.
I completed the Oxford Brookes survey on Facebook. I'm somewhere between the Greens and Labour. No chance of the Greens getting voted in where I live. There isn't even a Conservative candidate standing where I live. I've already cast my postal vote.
I voted tactically even though I really really dont like that party. But I held my nose and did my part. Good luck everyone.
The oldest and longest MP OF THE HOUSE LOOSING HIS SEAT WOULD BE A MASIVE STUND and to top it up TAKE east Worthing as well .😁😁
Well done. Brilliant argument with yourself
😂😂😂
I know what you mean tough choice, so I will vote Tory.
Hahaha only joking 😂😂😂😂
Hi Vanman talks thank you another fantastic episode and keep them up I agree with you about the Tories but I can't vote because I have just moved a few weeks ago and the voting has been sent to my old address
It's between Labour and the Greens in Brighton Kemptown.
Totally understandable given what was done to your local Labour representative by the national party. If the choice is the Tories or else the "else" is probably the best thing but otherwise voting for Green as a local protest would be the fairest thing. If only the world was fair lol
Here to get the same help 😫
Hope it helped but may have just given you more conflict 🤦♂️
@@vanmantalks nope deffo helped x
Vote tactically, its the only choice. We have a chance to put the tories into 3rd place and have the Lib Dems in opposition.
Starmer did the same thing in Scotland. The candidate in Nortb East Fife is one of Starmer’s pal and she lives in England
If it mattered I'd vote tactically, otherwise I'd vote green.. but then I don't live in the UK sooooooo.. Ive voted green left and usually i pick a women a bit down the list.. (yeah we have a huge list for each Party) 😊💪💚
Good on you for voting!
Had EXACTLY this conversation internally on the way to my polling station and came to the same conclusion. Although up here in Pontycymer you could pin a red rosette on a sheep and it would get elected. Enjoy your pint, my main man.
In a safe Labour seat so voted Green. Probably would have done anyway to be honest, the climate crisis is the only thing that really matters and Rachel Reeves' fiscal rules are beyond stupid.
1st reply removed by yt. Here it is again.
The tory should be gone for ever for what they have inflicted on the disabled alone. Let alone to the rest of the country, especially those who have very little to start with. The theft before was so bad, but this has been the biggest theft in history on steroids for a very few. It's sick.
Agreed! Not sure why YT would delete that 🤷♂️
@@vanmantalks I changed the word to "gone" for ever, instead of a more permanent word.
We live ia a Democracy. You must vote how you feel. If you cannot decide, just write none of these
Brighton Green Party,
who stands the best chance of kicking out the tories where you are? tactical vote.
Green...Labour are forecasted to get at least a 100 seat majority...no need to encourage the clowns by voting for them
If I replaced the badge on the front of your van with the label of a different manufacturer, would that mean it should now be referred to as the badge that I put on it or would you say it’s just a badge? That is exactly what Sir Bliar Starmer did and yet tens of millions of people argue that because it says Labour that it must be Labour. All I can say is that you Britons deserve your governments as much as you do eachother.
theyre not lying criminals for a start. so give them a chance. anything has to be an improve ment on the last 14 years
@@GeoffRapley you get what you deserve because you vote, not because you refuse to.
It doesn't matter who you vote for because, the government always wins 😊
It does, the Tories have been in government most of the time and everything is shit lol. 😂
I voted for The Workers Party. With Labour guaranteed to win in my area, I wanted to show that's there is a socialist demographic that they still have to cater towards.
I don't want to be governed by anyone
You want an anarchic system. 😂
Make your own party and run as a candidate, then if you win you get to do the governing.
As garygreen says, look who's the most likely to beat the Tories, except the NF psrty obvs, then vote for them
Tom Rutland Labour east worthing win 10 000 majority and Beccy Cooper Labour win from Peter Bottomley 4000 majority. wow wow wow

Keir Starmer rules out UK rejoining EU single market in his lifetime SAD DAY
No he hasn't. Stop making stuff up.
@@b62boom1 yes he did he said it yesterday
@@b62boom1 bless have you wasted your vote?
As it's unlikely that we'll be allowed to rejoin the EU within a generation, what he said is technically correct. It doesn't mean that he doesn't want to or that we won't have closer ties to Europe. Don't take everything a politician says at face value. A lot of people still support Brexit and Starmer has to choose his words very carefully.
@@catherinewilson3880 What evidence do you actually have that that the UK could not rejoin the EU for a generation? What knots you seem to be tying yourself into. You do know that women's suffrage was not universally popular when women were given the vote . Sometimes a politician needs to show true leadership
You can more than likely vote for who you want. Brighton Kemptown is likely to have a substantial Labour majority. I imagine its likely the Greens will get more votes than the tories in Kemptown. I'm in an ultrasafe Labour seat (50% Labour to 10% tory) so I have freedom in who I can vote for.
Labour to be tactical
