    Hi Oren: I watch your traveling Israel videos constantly; they are exceptional. Dvir your friend and Jerusalem guide has an excellent demeanor on camera; it is a pleasure to watch and listen to his narrative. During my travels , I discovered I do not enjoy too much listening to Guides that seem “unhappy” with themselves for it spoils my day. Thanks for all the info on Jerusalem.

    The real Al Aqsa mosque is in Saudi Arabia in Ja'arana. That mosque in Jerusalem with the black dome is not the real Al Aqsa mosque. As a matter of fact, it was once a Byzantine church before it was converted into an Islamic shrine.

    I just got back from Israel last Thursday. I spent time in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Tiberias. I should have gotten a guide for Tiberias. Google maps are not 100% accurate, but for Tiberias they are way off. Plus the bus service proved unreliable and some of the sites I wanted to visit are accessible only on unpaved paths and roads. With my knees, these were too difficult for me to walk.
    Sadly, when I visited the Old City I discovered the Quarter Cafe has closed. I did eat at the Holy Cafe twice. I recommend it.
    Old City attractions, which your package tour will probably miss:
    City of David (actually just outside the Old City south of the Dung Gate).
    Davidson Center. These are the ruins from the time of the second Bais Hamikdosh.
    Wohl Museum. Ruins of a residential district from the second Bais Hamikdosh period. Currently closed for renovations.
    Old Yishuv Court Museum. Documents Jewish life in Jerusalem from over 100 years ago.
    Tunnel Tours. Near the Kotel. See what's underground. It's Jerusalem from the second Bais Hamikdosh. Remember, the current Old City was built by the Byzantines over the ruins of the former Jerusalem.
    Tower of David Museum. Misnamed. The citadel and tower have nothing to do with David. The museum gives the history of Jerusalem, and there are archeological findings in the center. Much of the museum is currently closed for renovations.
    The Four Sephardic Synagogues. Now all under one roof. Enjoy the beauty.
    Moriah Book Store. I always stop here to pick up some reading for my trip back.
    I agree that getting lost in the Old City can be a fun way to explore. But make sure you know where you should not go. A lone traveler going through the Arab Quarter could be putting their safety on the line if you are Jewish or American. Or from certain western European countries.

      @deborahfreedman333 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've found google maps often don't have any streets built in the last three years (in Israel). Waze is much better for Israel. Also, if you want a more local perspective, there is the STEPS app. My guy, who lives in Carmei Gat, could not find the Sephardi synagogue, and I found it for him on STEPS.

    • @MFPhoto1
      @MFPhoto1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deborahfreedman333 Also, I have found that many intersections in Israel don't have street signs. Also, many buildings don't have numbers posted. Still I can usually find my way around. Tiberias is difficult, however. Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Haifa were easier.
