25 years from now people will still be driving old VW Bugs. 100 years after they first hit the streets. And, they'll still be modding them and using them as daily drivers. You just can't keep those things down.
Because VW Beetles are simpler than let's say, a BMW 320i. They are lighter, cheaper, simpler, and easier to fix than a complicated BMW. Long live the Volkswagen Beetle!
As someone who daily drove a 1971 super for about a year i can say it was always such a fun experience and such a joy to drive, and as much as i love my miata im saving up for another one right now.
That moment you realize Torchinsky is small enough to drive a caged car in the bouncy desert without a helmet as his head would not even reach said rollcage :)
The vague steering where your inputs are mere suggestions reminds me of driving a Taurus wagon. I'd get back in the family minivan and think "this is some precise (though overboosted) steering!"
I think the top of my project list should include a beetle of some sort, or a Volvo. One of the two would make for an excellent globe-trekking car, I think.
Just a couple months ago we sold off the 2001 Mercury Cougar we bought new, and replaced it with a '78 VW Super Beetle convertible. We know the Beetle will be more reliable, and if something goes wrong with it, I can fix it, and parts are cheap and plentiful.
They last just fine engine wise but the beating the receive on the stock parts is another story. The Class 11 group has existed and run Baja for 50 years and is gaining in popularity as folks look for simplicity and a relatively low cost of entry.
04dram04, they are fun... good low speed fun. My great uncle had a fifties model we used to go fishing in. It would s ramble over rocks and places you'd he er expect to see a car. Honestly, once you drive one off road you'll be hooked forever.
I love watching Jason, he's the crazy next door neighbor or drunk uncle you love to laugh at and listen to.
great video and thanms for sharing
Man I just freaking love this combo: sweetly done Italian Western tribute AND Jason in a rare car. You guys nailed it!
“Like a mountain goat with a rectal infection” marry me Jason
LOL XD

Can you do a Jason Drives video with the SFM Smyk, Jason? I mean, you drove the Hoffman, so why not the Smyk?
Hay Jason, keep going, one day you might beat Jay Leno's!

*clap clap clap*. Nice credit roll. XD
Jason 2020!
Jalopy Jason
I would take my 1985 Plymouth Horizon, if i still had one, and challenge those Beetles.
I just want a beetle. But they are effing hard to find and NOT cheap. Especially in Germany.
Wow really? In the us they're one of the cheapest and easiest classic cars to find.
Look in Washington sate I've ofund 3+ in the last month from 1000-2000$ daily drive able
That comment is the epitome of irony.
REDBeard PB in Germany you won't get anything under 10000€
Brandon Obaza nope. Germany is just expensive af.
Basically, this is "Herbie."
If it didn't burn gasoline it could be hauled to Mars, with no ill effects.
He forgot something, they heat up and wont last the desert temperatures!

I never understood these. How can they be useful with a maximum of 35 hp
