As you say, the apps are getting better and better. I have flown a JJRC X11 for nearly a year, with an upgraded 4K camera, but your review shows how much the technology has moved forward, in that small time, thanks. An excellent, thorough but fun, review.
I'm a bit put off by the lack of an SD card, but the compensation is the fact that the 'phone's software appears to carry out some, 'on the fly', stabilisation and processing. Having compared this to one or two other sub 250gm ~£100 drones, it comes out on top. (My problem: either I take an expensive A2 CofC course or buy a sub 250gm drone, to keep flying in 2021)
Pros: Amazingly stable in wind, sub 250gm, ~£100, uses Glonass (I believe; important in Northern Climes) as well as standard GPS, Good comprehensive App, 20+mins battery, foldable, good RTB safety features (Having had one drone fly away, never to be seen again, that seems important to me).
Cons: only 20/25fps video, no SD card slot, video not exactly 'buttery smooth', err, that's it.
Summary: If you want a sub 250gm video drone with good video, buy a Mavic Mini but if you want something at a third of the cost, this EX5 beats the competition.

First real world and honest review ..No waffle No how many km will it do .Jus a straightforward practical review .True not every body wants to buy a dji or an BMW 325 some us want a Focus or an Astra and they will do a great job day in day out and tick all the boxes and put a smile on your face .I work with technology every day ..Its not specs people want to see but what will it do ..You did a great job ..Totally loved it ..So many fools here babbling on about a drone going many Km But you have to be able to see it with a naked eye ..Stay Blessed

Great video Tigger. I bought mine a couple of days ago and seem to have 2 problems. One I cannot take it off via the joystick - it wouldn’t move. So the only way to fly is via the app. The other is the battery life - maxing out at 10-12 mins. Any ideas ?

Hey Tigger, I am quite interested in buying a low budget drone these days to inspect my house, and measure it using still shots. Would you recommend this drone or the SMRC from 3 weeks ago. I think the SMRC is a perfect choice for less than 100 bucks. Or would you have a totally different recommendation? As all reviews I have seen from you... Very well done
Awesome review. I also bought it, but returned it. I do recognize that the drone is a very good one. but the lack of an SD card to capture the 4k stream is just a real miss. Other than that the drone really flies well. I missed the phone control part btw. that was a neat feature.

Lovely scenery and a nice drone Tigger. Looks a real 'keeper' save for the one thing I don't like ... the lack of a microSD slot. For that reason alone, it's a No-no from me :( Stay well mate :)

Good video , I've got the same drone , I've been flying mine without my phone as my phone doesn't do 5ghz WiFi ..... Just wondering what phone you are using ? ............. I bought mine to actually put a FPV camera on it .... Regards 👍

One area they cheaped out in was the phone holder. It won't hold certain phones like mine (Blackview 9500 'rugged') so I had to send it back. Bummed me out because I liked the drone and all the good videos but the controller sucks.

Use a 16g micro SD card class 10. Kingston makes some cheap ones for less than $10.

Go to to google pay on your phone and search up eachine pro if something with eachine pops up then download everything shown and you will find the right one

No micro card slot because it is not true 4K? The image quality depends on how powerful your phone's processor is. Would you buy a 500 dollar smartphone to use a 50 dollar drone? Probably not.

In regards to drones, what does "brushless" mean?
A brushed DC motor uses a configuration of wound wire coils and an arm that brushes against the coils acting as a two-pole electromagnet to make it spin... A brushless motor, by contrast, utilizes a permanent magnet as its external rotor, no touching parts. Brushless motors last much longer since there is no touch parts to wear down. Brushless motors can also be controlled more precisely for gps

Only 1,000 ft distance because you don't believe in antennas. Look at other videos, this sucker can go much farther. Also depends on the quality of your phone's wifi that depends how far out you will get a video signal. Nav and video are separate devices, remote and phone.

BEWARE ANDROID PHONE USERS: This drone does not work with 99.9% of android phones. And even with an iPhone you’ll need a lot of free space to record video. Regardless the video will be garbage because there is no record to SD card. Buy this drone only if you want something to fly around LOS. Not for video.
