Just wanted to point out that the Cathedral that Yarvin talks about goes far deeper than the unelected bureaucracy, it also includes mainstream media and academia.

Dan, Erik, Thanks for running this show. Your conclusion really hit home. It really is about feelings like you're really trying to form a foundation of thinking. And your conversations (usually...) are exactly about those explorations. I deep appreciate that.

Great shoutout from Dan on the Karen Reade murder trial / Massachusetts State Police Scandal. Dan uses the example as "gumshoe reporting" breaking open a case but it's actually more interesting than that...The entire story was broken and developed by an independent local blogger known as "Turtleboy" with no affiliation to traditional media and allegations around a coverup scandal have been completely shunned by traditional media of local news, most pointedly the Boston Globe. Which is odd because the Globe leans into Id-Pol heavily, and very heavily into anti-police reporting, just last sunday they ran a top fold cover story about a police officer who said racist things. This case features three police officers, a town politician (and the star high school football player!) on the line for a murder and coverup, you'd think they could maybe fit that into one of the stories they would publish in the last six months, but surprisingly not!
Back to this Turtleboy, he was actually cancelled quite early into the Great Awokening, circa 2014 or so IIRC, and was fired as a public school teacher for some kind of politically incorrect facebook comment. Since learning to accept and relish his cancellation, he's actually been able to put together multiple local stories that went national, especially around BLM malfeasance, and local political corruption, one of which got picked up by Andy Ngo IIRC. IF you're interested in his reporting on the murder/scandal check out his run thru here: th-cam.com/video/XzRRNcStm4k/w-d-xo.html
The way this relates back to the discussion is that you'd think you'd at least get compelling reporting of a police murder coverup from a newspaper whose editorial direction is defund the police, but nope, you don't even get that. Instead, all the reporting relies on indie journalists because there are pressures on traditional media in this case to keep quiet here. One other interesting fact is Dave Portnoy, who is mentioned on this episode as another example of disrupting traditional journos grew up in the town next to where this murder occured, and its where he started barstool sports.

It would be interesting for you guys to have an episode dedicated to the IQ question.
I think one aspect of this issue that warrants deeper analysis is how intelligence is both defined and measured.
Given the abstract nature and definition of “intelligence”, any attempts to make proclaim that any one race/ethnicity is more intelligent than another will ultimately be based on some arbitrary standard.
To put this into a simple analogy, what does it mean for someone to be a fast runner? Depending on the specific type of race (100m dash, 400m dash, 10k marathon, etc.), the “fast” runner designation is a more a function of how that speed is getting measured (I.e. who finishes the race first).
Therefore, as it pertains to discussions regarding intelligence, it would be interesting for you all to discuss how intelligence is measured in the first place, as it appears that this could be a potential weakness of arguments tying race to intelligence-and NOT IQ.
In my limited exposure to this topic, it appears that equating IQ-as determined by the original standardized tests to measure intelligence-is akin to defining speed-in the context of running-as the sole function of an individuals 100m dash time-I.e. while it is a useful way to measure one aspect of running speed, it is inherently limited to a very specific context.
Anyway, very much enjoy the content and keep up the good work.

Put it this way - would you rather live in a country with high standardised IQ, or low. Then ask would you rather live in country where the average person runs a faster marathon or a faster 100m - you wouldn't care as much. Standardised IQ is one of the few traits that, up to a point, everyone want to increase because of the benefits.

thanks for picking up the ball where all-in drops it ,by "showing your work" allowing viewers to extend value from the pod.
would be awesome if you could get daniel schmachtenberger on the pod.
like balaji his ability to articulate and compress ideas is fascinating, but unlike balaji his background is more anchored in philosophy and public sector making for takeaways that are less actionable but difficult to ignore ...which makes for an interesting guest imho.
keep up the great work guys. 👍

It was already not cool and much more common for educated people to not want to identify with the right. Trump certainly accelerated and worsened it but the idea that so many seem to have of Trump starting so much i think is often wrong. These things were already there or at best bubbling under the surface.

"Politics isn't present in a monarchy". Are you that ignorant or trolling? The king must politic to not be overthrown. The courtiers must politic to gain favor of the king.

    • @Linkolite
      @Linkolite 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think he means the bipartisan circus performances we see in the United States. There’s political discussion between citizens, and the courtiers must politic like you said…. But there is no sign waving, protesting, parties, walk-outs or bullshit smear campaigns under a Monarchy. There is a king, and you either like him or don’t like him- and even the people who don’t like him can’t do anything about it. There’s massive benefits to this system because if the principle of no-voice free-exit is preserved, people loyal to the king stay and people who don’t like him can leave. There is less of a shitty “team” atmosphere, where politics becomes a sport to be argued over, and more of a command to be adhered to. There is less toxic political discourse under monarchy, I’d say.
