What I love about this entry level controller is that it comes with a sampler volume and parameter buttons. You don’t see those on entry level controllers. I just wish Looping had their own buttons.
Thank you Joey for the detailed info about the Roland dj-202. I don't find the drum pad function limits of the 202 too disturbing for my playing goals for now.. Although I see why the 505 or 808 are better, and maybe later on I'll go there.. But as you said, for a tight budget, this controller looks pretty decent. I'll check out other ones too! Thanks for the tips! Always good to watch your videos. Cheers! ❤️
great review, I own a dj 202, its a great controller, it came with serato dj pro which is awesomee as I don't have too pay for it ;) also my type of genre is uk garage and house music, so I barely use the sequencer, if anyone is doing techno, house garage, trap, edm style mixing I highly recommend it, also you get used too the stiff performance pads after a while its helpful as there is less chance you accidently hit it and move your song back xD the knobs and body are plastic but still feel great, and the jog wheels are 9 inch so its just nice and big, other than that I highly recommend this controller for its bang for buck :D
Do you remember how you got to activate the DJ Pro software? I can't do other then DL the Drivers and when I see "my products" there is no products there? WTF
I did. They didn't even know about the Campaign. And I been trying to contact Roland for the last 9 days with no response. I'm familiar with software and equipment. And usually everything gets delivered to you in a email, but Roland don't have as much as a guide on their site. I haven't personally DJ'ed since the Early 2000 (without DJ software's). But I'm familiar with DAW's,Audio software etc,so shouldn't be a hard transition for me. But a basic startup guide (regarding the Campaign) would be nice. And If the steps are the same with the campaign. I think that should be mentioned somewhere.
@@digitaldjtips Roland is/was running a campaign. Called the Mixpack or something with the 202 (at authorized retailers). It included a upgrade from Serato DJ Lite to Serato DJ Pro,a 20% discount on my first purchase at beatbort and a Skype lesson worth £99 (which i considered a steal, considering the price of the controller). The campaign was about to end the 31st of March, but the site/s are still active so I guessing they running the campaign til the retailers run out of stock or something. I know it got nothing to do with you,but at this point I just try to find stuff out,and how I get what I payed for. I find the lack of information frustrating and the 9 days I have waited for a response from Roland support a bit much. As a new user, that just want to get started. I just thought you might have known since you are familiar with the mixer. At this point,I'll try everything. I could just start using it with Lite, but If i don't get Serato Pro I will just return it and get a more expensive controller maybe something like the Numark NV 2 wich seems quite reasonable priced for having screens.

I have the SRT 1000 but need a smaller controller for smaller events. I use serato pro. Would you suggest this controller or another one? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hi ! Thanks for the review it is really helpfull ! I am a Dj, i mix most of the time hip hop and reggae dancehall. I am looking for a controler that i can easily bring to parties, a plug and play but I would love to improve my transitions, live performances on drum pads, the scratches (if i can), improve my skills and make my Dj sets more interresting. After few researches, considering my budget etc etc .. i am today hesitating in between the pioneer sb3 and the roland 202. But after checking your review I am wondering now if I am gonna be able to do and practice everything that I want to... If you have any advices that can help me in that choice or other controler that can be more interesting, suggestions i would receivethem with joy ! Thank you for the video its really fly !
Digital DJ Tips yep Ik they aren’t a lot but thanks for the input I like this controller because I like to do a little more with my performances great review 💪🏿
bought this one and on 2 different computers I have problems with serato software, it freeze out quite often, I would never buy it again, Not because of controller but because Solid mapping for traktor cant be found online, working with serato is one big issue, and manual mapping is a lot of work. Next time I will go to native instruments or some pioneer which have different software build than serato. (Its not problem with my computer, I found a LOT of people who have the same issue with serato just check comments on amazon to this controller and you will see) If it works as it should, well you are lucky one.
@@digitaldjtips yeah man I know its just odds, but you know, I spent so much time and energy by solving something what cant be solved, and now I need to buy new one. If I know the odds before I would newer go for it.

Hey guys, wondering if anyone can help me. just testing the 202's today and noticed that my 3.5mm headphones doesn't fit into the jack at all and falls out. The headphones I use and the jack work on DJ SB3's and I wondered what to do/ what jack size I need to get so they can work on the Roland 202's. Cheers everyone
Mine has some bugs, play button stops working sometimes when you touch the right jog wheel (or just stops working), hot cues also, play button looks "activated" but the track is stopped. Slip mode stops working sometimes. It's full of unpleasant surprises quite often when you least expect.. When using 4 decks sometimes sound from some decks stops working (it's muted).. Etc. I will not buy Roland products again.
@@digitaldjtips Hello I have a quick question do you think a 2RCA cable to Male/Female 3.5mm audio jack will be enough for me to connect my speakers or no?
I have problems setting my 202 up (Win 10). I Registered my product on Roland's site Downloaded the driver. followed the steps. I got a Email that it could take 7 days to get my registration..7 days in 2019? That's a bit rich isn't it? Who buys a new product and expect to wait a week before one can use it. I also went on Serato site and downloaded the DJ PRO but I have a 14 day trial notice & a buy now button!! Anyone has a easy step guide to set it up. As far as I understood. After installing the driver plugging in the controller it would automatically download the required drivers/softwares. I really hope I don't need to return it. IF I got to I Think I will buy the Numark controller with the LCD screens at the $500 range. So frustrated now.
This product sucks! I mean it says it’s for beginners for its so hard to make this thing work. I still can’t play my music on there. All the software and hardware are activated but I cannot get music from my Serato to come on my speaker. I’m only hearing the pre-installed beat from the controller. Can anyone help? And why isn’t there an on and off button?
What I love about this entry level controller is that it comes with a sampler volume and parameter buttons. You don’t see those on entry level controllers. I just wish Looping had their own buttons.
I plan on sequenceing intros and solos in disco tracks to keep the energy going while still being able to phrase the set accordingly.
Sounds good!

I don't think that'll work Chance but we haven't tried connecting it up to external gear - best to check with Roland :)
@@digitaldjtips thanx for the reply!!!
Using with virtual 7.4 drum pads work but how do i get it to work with jogwheels not sure what im doing wrong
If I get the Roland the serato pro is free?
No, it only unlocks Serato Lite when plugged in
I got it for free with purchase. You have to email serato if you don't get code in box.
can we use this as a drum machine synced to logic or reason?
drum pad"
Any guides on using the sequencer as I cant figure it out for the life of me
No we don't I'm afraid, but be aware that the sequencer is much more limited on this that on the 505 and the 808.
How do you turn on mic effects
theres a knob on the back near the mic imput
Bro pionner sb3 or this one which is better nd which is worth to money
Depends if you want to sequencer function or not basically.
1st to comment! Love the video😀
Thanks Fred :)

Get a 1/4" to 1/8" headphones adaptor
Last night a DJ saved my life... and uhm, his jean jacket got torn up. 😏

Hello which controller should I buy pioneer dj 400, pioneer sb3 or Roland 202
They're all great, if you're aiming for clubs and CDJs then I'd say the DDJ-400, if you're a DJ/Producer then the Roland 202
