I hate to be that person but could you imagine if this was an anime and through out it we learn the lore of this universe see the friends grow together while on this journey only for the finale to have all of them betray her one by one and as the viewers think all hope is lost we actually find out the last bit of lore about the sacrifices and the cycle of it all.
one of the friends: ok our friend is going to suffer all 9 sufferings but we are very good friends so we help her k? the others:K That friend : so we have 9 options who wants to take which one (Awkard silence)
I feel like Kaito is "that friend" because he's the eldest male in the story and he was the first one to choose Rose Yuen's friend is Gakupo because he can be pissy sometimes and he's the priest/monk in the story, so he just doesn't care how he dies, in the end still same Lim Xuan Kai's friend is Len because he's being killed a lot in his vids also he's one of the youngest in the story making him very blunt
i think what happened was that they all knew that there was no such blessing, but what they only found out after Kaito took it is that they could move on if somebody else took the messiah's place. and so, they all silently unanimously decided to get the curses before miku could reach them hence the sudden competitive spirit.
Everytime I hear Len's part "crawling through fire", the way he says it makes me feel like that he is making it a point to let the Messiah know the pain he went through for her, like "hey don't forget that I CRAWLED THROUGH FIRE!!!"
The easiest.. for me is either the storm, crawling on magma, earthquake, or the lightning strike. Immediately died there. The hardest one is the peaceful darkness, followed by the hyporthemia, drought, burned alive and the last is drowned. The peaceful darkness can last many years, I saw a manga where someone is left alone on an abandoned planet and no one alive there. He survived about 7 years while being crazy. Hyporthemia is crazy, I read someone got their feet cut off because how cold it is.. and rin is not equiped with warm cloth Drought, someone can last 3 days without drink Burned alive, I read books about get burned down and it's honestly painful. And the smoke is suffocating. Drowning, you are good at swimming but can't get to surface. On certain level of water, it can immediately kills you if you swim to the surface too fast. For me, the hardest is the one with longer suffering. And in the darkness, not knowing if you are actually can sense anything and time seems not working was the craziest literary my nightmare. Imagine if you got high mental capability but you can't hear, see, or feel. It's something I think close to hell. I'm not saying the crawling on magma was easy, but it's not like you gonna be revived to taste them again like in the hell. You died once your feet can no longer support you because of the heat.
can i just say that the person who voiced miku really killed it holy shit in that last verse you can actually hear the emotion in her voice "with this flame i'd received from my dearest friends i will honour their lives and bring this to and end..."
Love how what miku interpreted as running off in irritation from the younger sister was likely a face of grim determination ; all doubts of what she was making herself go through erased as soon as she saw her sister complacently walk to her death with a smile. She mourns her as she runs, though the mourn turns to rage at their unfair circumstances. What miku saw as irritation at her sister grabbing a blessing before she could was likely her converting all her grief to rage and determination to steel herself for what she would go through next.
Honestly, this song is just so sad but the line that gets me most is "Did you think that we would let you go all alone?" since typically that line is said with a hint of playfulness and is meant to be empowering and assuring.
Explaination for those who don't understand: One day, the local seamstress of the "Village of Youth" (Miku) received a letter from the oracle of the nearby kingdom. She was destined to become the next Messiah the one who has to get the nine "blessings" inside of the "Tower of AI". The other villagers, her friends, decided to help her too. What they didn't know was that the so called "blessings" were tests God set up to test the Messiah and see if he/she could endure the curse. The Messiah has the choice of either enduring/surviving all the curses or spiltting the curse between 9 people. Miku doesn't know about the curse, and how you could split it between 9 people or endure it yourself, so she lets her friends (Len, Rin, GUMI, Luka, IA, Gakupo, KAITO, MEIKO, and MAYU) join her. However, inside of the tower, the 9 "friends" put aside their friendship and betray her, one by one. The Messiah realizes that they were all blinded by greed, wanting to get more power by grabbing the blessings for themselves. Finally, she reached the top of the tower, alone, where the altar was waiting for her. Surrounding a stone pedestal, nine statues were arranged in a circle, holding unlit, red candles in their skeletal hands... which were suddenly illuminated. She then found out that her 9 friends actually knew about the curse, and just didn't want her to know what they were doing so they pretended to betray her so that she could save the world instead. Realizing the fate that her friends had to suffer, splitting the curse, the Messiah understood that they were never being greedy, they just wanted to protect her and never once wanted to steal the "blessings", they just didn't want her to feel the pain of enduring the curse. Even at their death they always remembered their motto, "In sickness and in health, we share joy and pain".
I cried on the part where her friends sing to what happened to them and the background image of them looking at her like there face is saying we did it for you and the rest of the world. accepting their fate. While Comparing there face when they acted greedy and took the "blessings".
I just realized that all these "Blessings" could be natural disasters too..? 🤔 The Blossoming Wave of the Sea - Tsunamis The Fiery Feast - Forest Fires The Graceful Sunlight - Drought The Restful Darkness - Death/Disease The Trembling Earth - Earthquakes The Ambient Thunder - Thunder Strikes The Whirlwind of Rondo - Hurricanes The Silver Garden - Blizzards The Quickening Magma - Volcanic Eruptions
Yeah these are the kinds of lyrics you’ll find another meaning the second time you listen to this song, actually this song has a ton of these kinds of lyrics
I think someone who's really underrated in this story is the Monk. Even knowing the horrible fate he would have to endure, he still kept his faith in his friends and the divine strong enough to pray even as he met his ultimate fate. To be able to face endless despair in an entirely unfair situation and still keep faith in whatever deity he worships is a really powerful statement.
Every time I get to Rin’s part, it hurts me more and more. Because despite the younger twin and the older twin knowing what must be done, she has to push him away. Even then, she cries and accepts her fate. Kinda chilling.
Okay but the tears in Ren's eyes as she looks at her twin brother for the last time yet still trying to stay in character by being taken over by greed 👀 gets me everytime
In 2:42 they say “Keeping it to yourself - we will not allow” and then you go and learn that they sacrificed so she wouldn’t suffer by herself. They didn’t allow her to keep the pain all to herself. I just -
Extra details to this song/movie/story: • *INTERESTING!* Each of them have a red gem/stone with them as an acessory to mark their friendship. (Examples are Miku's necklace, Kaito's braclet, Meiko's hairpin) You can see more of their complete illustration of the Blessed Messiah and The Tower of Ai if you search it up. • This cycle of saving their corrupted world happens every 15 years with finding new Messiahs (so it's kind of sad if you think of the lives lost.) • Miku didn't know about the "blessings" actually being curses so her friends, who knew about it, hid that fact from her and sacrificed their lives for her (by making her think they're greedy) so she won't have to endure all the pain from the curses. (But I assume ya'll know about this already.) • *INTERESTING!* Their singing lines during and starting from the part where Kaito was the first to betray Miku by "stealing" the blessing for himself were based of the fact when they entered. So when one after the other enters the room of the blessings, they didn't sing anymore (as they were undergoing their sufferings so I actually like this detail a lot to signify their loss already.) • *INTERESTING!* When Miku walks up to the altar, she finds a shadowy figure just across from her who resembled a lot like Neru (also a vocaloid) so I assume 15 years ago, before Miku, Neru also had to endure the same situation where Miku was with her friends dying too and then that form disappeared after the cycle where Miku was in was complete. • *INTERESTING!* (Now this hurt me the most,) The 9 statues that held unlit candles only started lighting up one by one after the 9 revealed their gruesome deaths (Miku realized this by now) after they had finished the process (ouch) and the red liquid that went to the base altar was the blood of the 9 friends who gave up their lives for Miku. • Tower of Ai - Tower of Love (I'd like to think that it meant that it was the tower of how the friends loved Miku so they died for her.) And for Messiah, you could indeed say that the true Messiahs are her friends. • In the end, we could see that the world had already returned back to normal but we don't know what happens after that, will Miku continue living normally? We don't know but it's sad to think.
I think what happens to Miku is there going to die praying or stay there until the next Messiah comes around because if we're to go off the shadowy figure on the other side that could be where the person was praying until Miku and the other got there so basically they pray until they die and then even after death their spirit stays until the next Messiah arrives to take their place. But that's what I like to think
lil bro always trying to one up rin 😭 he took rin's "butterfly on your right shoulder" and ran with it, and his cover of lost one's weeping in pjsk is too good, like he was totally trying to one up her at her own song again 💀

The Nine Blessings were actually things that the Messiah would have to suffer through, but her friends decided they would sacrifice themselves instead, so in a way they die, but simply suffer eternally.
This hurts me. All of them tried to spare Rin and Len so they'd be the last ones sacrificed. And in the end, even though it would only have made the difference of a minute or an hour, Rin went herself first to protect her younger twin.
This is a long reply, you have been warned || There's actually a theory out there that Rin and Len (maybe with all of the others, maybe just them) had made a promise of who went in what order before they all pretty much sacrificed themselves. Anyways, some people think it was actually Len who had to get to The Silver Garden, and Rin didn't want to watch her twin die so pushed him out of the way and sacrificed herself first instead. The ''joyful'' tears may have been actual tears of grief knowing what emotional trip she was sending Len on (and the story is told from Miku's perspective and she didn't know about the blessing's true nature, so Miku thought she was happy about having a blessing for herself.) and Len's absolutely horrified and somewhat surprised expression doesn't really help that. And when he sacrificed himself (''the boy seemed to glow in his pride'') Len's smiling at the moment he gets the blessing, in a lot of other translations it's also noted in the lyrics. for example ''Smiling, he loftily bid her adieu.'' What if that smile isn't directed at Miku, but at Rin, as if saying ''I made it, we're going to be together again soon''? The prideful demeanor was probably just to keep up the betrayal act. Long story short, Rin went out of what they had promised each other and went first to protect her twin even though they had already predetermined an order probably.
Okay, quick moment here! I want to say that the story here is pretty deep! Apparantly, according to some of the lines at the end, this isn't the first time earth almost dies. In this story, Miku is chosen to be the next messiah, which means lighting up a shrine and save the world from near extinction. However, when they reached there, , one by one, her friends 'betrayed' her as they 'stole' the blessings, seemingly to be in greed. This turns out to be sacrifices, her friends sacrificing themselves to let her advance safely. She realised it far too late and realised the meaning of 'sacrifices' in the prophecy. It meant human scarifices. And the sad thing is, this will not be the last. If you pay attention, there is a figure on the shrine who disappears when Miku finally completed her mission. I think that figure is the previous messiah. That means...the old messiah may have experienced this before, so there is a good chance Miku would stay in that shrine until the next messiah, seeing as she laughs in sorrow at the end and a barrier surround the tower for a moment, as if keeping her locked into the tower. This 'blessings' are actually 'sorrows', as they take away the messiah's companions for sacrifices, and most probably over and over again, if humans kept on doing this again. This is all my opinion though, so if you have a different idea, please dont smite me. I'm just stating what I think.
Razzy no no you were all wonderful! I was very happy to hear you and ,many other of my favourite singers. And ham, strange, I was just thinking about you a couple of days ago thinking you've been quiet lately. Nice work everyone, thanks so much, and hope to hear more from you in the future!
Listened to this song when i was 12, now im 18 and just realized the true message of this song. With the state of the world rn... it just hits too close to home. I hope you guys know that you've made a masterpiece, im mad this video doesnt have more views.
Okay, as soon as Kaito went up I'm thinking "He's taking on a burden for her" especially with the way the chamber door closed shut, but then the greedy faces, so then I'm like "No?" But *_yes_* And by that point I was ready to cry

Huh, I just observed something. At first I thought that be beginning of the song showed the ending, where the messiah sacrificed herself to prolong the existence of the world. But now I'm more of the inclination that it's showing the previous cycle where the past messiah sacrificed herself for the sake of the world. Between 0:00 to 0:11 we're seeing the ceremony for the revival of the world. And at 0:15 we're seeing nearly the exact same group as the one from our main cast of the song. With the exception that the one character on the ground isn't in fact, Miku, but a girl with a ponytail. This confused me at first since all the other characters mirror the main cast, and the proceeding image is that of our main cast as children, but it probably just juxtaposes the two groups as being nearly identical and foreshadows the cyclical nature of the ritual. I base this on the shade that we see at the top of the tower (shown at 3:54, and fading out of existence at 4:53) also has a similar pony tail, but to the side. The previous messiah has literally been sitting alone at the top of the tower for the past 5-6 years(?) while withering away trying to prolong the world. And this shows the fate of Miku, the current messiah after the ending of the song. ... Why is this song so good while being so depressing?
And if you look the song up, there's the author's comment where after they earn God's forgiveness and lit the world's lifespan at the altar, the lifespan is connected to the light of the Messiah, who is created every 15 years. So the girl with sided ponytail (Akita Neru) was the previous Messiah from 15 years ago and Miku is current one before the whole thing starts all over again 15 years later. So your observation is pretty on point.
SketchyKitty If I may ask, how did you find out that each cycle lasts 15 years? In the beginning (0:17) it shows that the previous cycle ended at the same time Miku lost her parents, and she looked to be around 10 at the time, and right now since her group still looks to be children, it seems like only 5-6 years have passed at most.
I reader it off here. vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/%E7%A5%9D%E7%A6%8F%E3%81%AE%E3%83%A1%E3%82%B7%E3%82%A2%E3%81%A8%E3%82%A2%E3%82%A4%E3%81%AE%E5%A1%94_(Shukufuku_no_Messiah_to_Ai_no_Tou) I'm not sure how accurate it is but I assume that every new messiah is "created" every 15 tears but not specifically born at that time. We're not exactly sure about the entire concept of the story in this song because it isn't a full written on out story so there wouldn't be really a way to know for sure. We can only assume though.
Yamashizuku always seems to outdo themselves with their songs... when I first heard this one I was so shocked by the ending that I was literally shaking. It's such tragic and beautiful story on it's own, and OH GOSH the harmonies. That's what I was most impressed by with all of you. The harmonies (Which are such an integral part of the song) came out so well! And I just want to give you mad props on the mixing because oh gosh, I can barely mix one voice let alone 10 of them!! This is amazing. You're amazing. Everything's amazing! Aaaaahhhh
Something else that's pretty awesome is the fact that this is alluded to, ever so slightly, before the group even enters the tower. "Only the Messiah can receive the Glory inside." Makes sense that all the people that worked with the Messiah got the curses that the blessings held, even as the man lied that he would be facing all the fortune and pain as one. Every person faced the pain until the Messiah got to the end, and then they all felt both ultimate pain that their sacrifice was not the last, but ultimate fortune that they could continue living on an the world wouldn't be destroyed.
For people asking for explanation here are some of my thoughts, just want to share. First I think everyone (obviously) know that the world was in the brink of extinction and the only thing shielding them was the tower of ai but only few knew the real nature of it. After Miku was chosen, they said 'so we will accept that fate.' Miku was not the one who said it. So they already know what lies behind the blessings but still accompany her because of their promise since they were kids. After arriving in the chamber of the first blessing in here I feel like most of them were hesitating because Miku almost touched the blessing but Kaito stopped her before her hands land on it, claiming the blessing because he was the eldest he sacrificed himself. After that everyone was probably motivated to do their mission second was Meiko. I think the red eyes that Miku was saying probably Meiko's eyes were swollen from crying but she mistook it as rage. (Meiko has brown eyes even though her trade mark color is red.) Third was the eldest sister(IDK her name, someone please tell me.) who went to the light probably to protect her sister, but the younger sister was frustrated by her action so she ran away towards the darkness. Next was the monk, Gakupo. He went to the trembling Earth, then the poet Gumi went to the next blessing, then Luka the dancer not wanting the younger ones go before her. after this my heart really broke because Kagamine twins are my favorite. Len was supposed to go to the next blessing, wanting to protect her sister at the very least but infront of the door he hesitated afraid of what's coming so Rin pushed him away and went to blessing instead that's why Len tried to grabbed her when she went to the door, Rin smiled at him trying to comfort him but it looks sinister and sorrowful because she was afraid but happy that he did it on behalf of his brother. After this it is obvious that Len was encouraged by her sister like how Kaito motivated them, so he took the next blessing pushing Miku away. Miku was depressed losing all her friends but after going to the altar statues was waiting for her which she already knew that those were her friends. Upon learning their sacrifices she continued lightning the torch because she knows that it was her friends wish. And she called the 9 blessings as 9 sorrows in disguise. And we can call this as tradition since before them, it was Neru who faced this cursed fate. And every seven years(correct me if im wrong) they have to do this to protect the earth. I was really hooked up with this song so I researched about it interestingly I found Dante's 9 circle of hell and the death of each character was the punishment in every layer, so I guess in that world the God loathed humanity to the point of them on brink of extinction but the tower of ai prevents it as 9 people took the punishment for humanity's sake every seven years.
Awesome job explaining this....For me, I feel that Miku was the only one who doesn't know about "true" prophecy. Only her friends know what was going on...As throughout the story she felt that her friends are betraying her one by one, only wanting the "Blessing" for themselves...The feeling of being betrayed by her friends and finding herself unable to fulfill the "prophecy" because she doesn't have the "Blessings" is slowly eating her up as she walk up the altar. Then when the statues started lighting up on their own one by one, she slowly understand the meaning behind her friends actions. They took the blessings because they didn't want her to go through it alone. As her friends, they sacrifice themselves to help their friend (Miku) and the world. As everything started becoming clear to her (Miku), those blessing aren't Blessing but are in fact sorrows. Sorrows for her and her friends and only a blessing to the world.
For me, I'd rather think that Mayu (the younger sister, I think) ran to the darkness probably to grieve because she couldn't bear to know what would happen to her elder sister at the Graceful Sunlight, and hurried over to the Restful Darkness to follow her. Nice job explaining, though!
I think I have a good idea of the story here; telling lines are "we will accept that fate" and "The blessings were 9 sorrows in disguise" among others. I believe it's a combination of two things here. First: the 9 sacrifices are necessary to prove that there are still people who are worth saving and possibly to activate the shrine/altar or something. The second is that each "blessing" was actually a trap, like Aladdin's cave of wonders wherein if you touch anything but the lamp then you will pay the consequence, it's the same thing here. Miku thought she was supposed to obtain the blessings but they were actually a test: first to see if she could refuse the temptation to seek power like the humans who had tried to step into God's territory and secondly to test her resilience and dedication, like the line "sharpen your mind and heart" implies as each of her friends stopped her from falling into any of the 9 traps and sacrificed themselves in the process. I think Miku's friends allowed her to believe they had betrayed her either because they were afraid she might refuse her destiny as the next messiah or because they weren't allowed to tell her the truth. That is why the phrase "We will accept this fate" is key; it implies that they knew they would have to sacrifice themselves and accepted that fate for the sake of the world and their friend Miku. Miku would only realize the truth when reaching the top of the tower and either through an inscription found up there somewhere or inscriptions on the statues shown that probably represent the 9 sacrifices learn that each "Blessing" was in fact a death for whomever entered to claim them and that those deaths were part of the cycle. Another tipoff is how each is sealed in and the first, Kaito, shows no signs of being fearful or panicked about being trapped inside as one who simply intended to steal might have, nor does it stop the others from claiming the other "Blessings". One would think they would all be a little hesitant after seeing Kaito be trapped; even if the blessings were possessing them they would have tried to fight it. Also the "Blessings" being able to possess someone still fits this notion as that simply adds to the idea of them being death traps. They could be whispering out to Miku, calling to her that she is the chosen one and their "power" is hers to claim. In order to keep them from drawing Miku in the others push her aside and accept their deaths. This would explain lines like "Who is your enemy" and "Can someone be truly altered by "Greed"" I know this is long but I just wanted to throw out my thoughts on this amazing song and express my opinion that the singers, many of which I listen to quite a bit, did a fantastic job and I applaud them for taking the time and making what I'm sure was a challenging effort to make this wonderful cover. Good job guys and keep up the good work, it is truly appreciated!!! God bless you all!!!
PurpleTigerGirl1619 me before reading this comment: huh... no way they'll have the same thing I'm thinking Me after reading this: You... you mind reader...
PurpleTigerGirl1619 Thank you so much! I needed this comment! My friend asked me to ''animate it'' so I watched it, but I didn't understand what was going on, so I couldn't really do anything with it, but now I understand the story! THANK YOU!
Plus, right when Kaito shoves Miku out of the way, he claims that ‘We will face all our fortune and pain as one’ yet again. At this moment it can be taken in the more fortune way. He stole the first ‘Blessing’. They’d face their fortune as one, in such he’d steal the blessing from the messiah for the power it would give. However, when it’s revealed the blessings were sorrows in disguise this line makes more sense looking at the pain. They will all share in this pain for Mimi’s sake. So the world can be reborn.
DemonPrincessMitsu VA So there is a messiah that has to go through this tower the tower of ai to prevent many natural disasters the messiah is part of a group of orphans so they join her in her quest and they begin to steal her "power" when she gets to the top of the tower she learns they were taking her pain for her because they didn't want them to feel pain meaning they all sacrificed themselves for her.
From my basic understanding, Miku (the Messiah) is chosen to receive 9 "blessings". Her friends "steal" the "blessings" from her and she feels betrayed. She later finds out that her friends were actually saving her from the "blessings" which are actually sorrows. When she realises that her friends sacrificed themselves for her and just how messed up this whole prophecy is she breaks, but ends up fulfilling the prophecy (and saving the world?). That's what I gathered from watching. Regardless, I LOVE all of you guys' voices and the PV is one of my favorites. :)
This is purely my interpretations. But the whole journey of the messiah was for humanity to experience what their world's God experienced when humanity betrayed him. The messiah is to journey to the Tower of Ai, and gain the 9 Blessings, but the blessings would take control of the bodies of the Messiah's friends to claim the Blessings for themselves. But as we find out in the end, the friend's never wavered, and never meant to betray The Messiah. After all the companions proved their loyalty and devotion, and The Messiah proved that she could withstand being betrayed by those she held dear, in the same way their God was betrayed by humanity, the world's God decided to prolong the existence of their world. In the end the whole journey was a reminder to humanity that they are at the mercy of an almighty god, and that they shouldn't betray him again.
What I'm understanding is that the world is falling apart and the God in the song chose a messiah ( Miku) to c collect nine blessings and to take nine friends with her. So they travel to collect the blessings meant to be recieved by the messiah. H however one by one her friends betrayed her and took the blessings for themselves . What it came time to deliver the blessings she finds out they didn't really betray her. The friends knew the blessings would kill her so they pretended to betray her and took on the burden for her. Miku finds out the "blessings " were a cruel joke or maybe lesson/punishment from their God. They were meant to fail. They weren't blessings
I LISTENED TO THIS ONE LIKE YESTERDAY AND I THOUGHT "it's a nice song, if only Ham covered this" I WENT TO SLEEP AND I WAKE UP AND FIND THIS, WISHES COME TRUE????? OMG THERE ARE LIKE ALL MY FAVOURITE SINGERS??? OMFG I'M SO HAPPY
Dude, you won’t believe the amount of tears I shed when I first watched this. I was right alongside the messiah, thinking that her friends betrayed her only to find out that they protected her from nine very gruesome deaths and she has to carry out the last death on the tower after realizing how much her friends cared about her, to the point that they literally give up their lives for her. And they would rather her think of them as greedy than run the risk of her trying to sway them from what needs to be done. It’s heartbreaking and tore me to pieces. This English cover you guys did was and still is amazing. You perfectly captured the pain the Messiah felt at the end and the whisper of life of the ghosts detailing their painful deaths. 🥹
You know how some people are like "this amount of people missed the like button" Well, I just looked back and realized I had disliked this 😳 I literally missed the button It happens. (Yes, I fixed my mistake and liked this, don't worry)
transulate below! I think story and melodies are not sounds like japaneasy(I mean, I wanna say like japanese style)but like western thing. So,that harmony fits in my heart! (..sorry, poor english skill
Hi all, especially those of you in the US -- i'm so sorry this video got taken down :( If you still want to watch/listen to it, I've left alternate links in the description. Thank you so much for the support on this video!!!
This cover, and your mistletoe cover, are so amazing! I don't think I've ever heard people that sing english covers of vocaloid songs that write the lyrics to match the original rhythm of the songs so closely before.
SirHamnet hey Ham, I know this is an odd question to place here but I'm actually planning out a live vocaloid panel for a con in my state and we were actually going to sing this as our last song. I wanted to make sure it was okay for us to use the lyrics and if you'd like I'm planning on filming the panel so we can post this song up for you to see as well
Love the translation of the last verses. Makes more sense than the translated portion of in that part of the song. "For the blessings were 9 sorrows in disguise" vs "She has just created 9 sorrows"
ham. That "pushing him away" and "crawling through the fire" get me every time. I'm trying to listen all the way through but I keep rewinding to hear those again. How are you so amazing, I want to try and own my low notes like that.
Considering the Japanese meaning, "Did you think that we would let you go on all alone?" can also be translated as "We won't let you die alone." The verb "Iku" in the Japanese lyrics "Ikasehashinai" has the meanings of both "go" and "die." 行く = go, 逝く = die
IA is the older sister and Mayu is the younger sister,Rin is the older twin and Len is the younger twin. Mekio is the swordsman,Kaito might be the head chef of the village “young man”. Gakupo is a monk,Gumi is a poet. Luka is a dancer. Miku is the Messiah.
That's why the younger sister was so pissed at the older one! She was gonna sacrifice herself then the older sister, who didn't want to see her little sister walk to her death pushed her out of the way to receive the curse. The little sister, angered by her older sister's haste, rushes to the chamber with the darkness so as to not be separated. Even in death.
1:13 Something I find really interesting is how the lyrics hinted at the other 9’s demise from the beginning, with this line, that’s so hidden, that I didn’t even realize at first. “ And so we will accept that fate. “ The key word in the sentence is we. They knew from the start that if they went, they’d be sacrificing themselves, but still went on to help [ the messiah ] ( Miku ). ( Edit: Which we know at the end, but it’s a cool detail that it was hinted at from the beginning ) Also OMG all y’all’s voices are beautiful 🤩
Anyone else notice that each member has a red jewel somewhere on their outfits? I just thought it was a cool detail, maybe it symbolizes their bond or something... Miku and Gumi: Necklace Kaito: Bracelet Meiko: Hair ornament Ia and Mayu: Anklet Gakupo: Head accessory Luka: Waist accessory Rin and Len: Collar Accessory
This chorus is just so amazing in the vocals and the lyrics was well-written. It's so sad about their fates and how they have to put on this act of betraying her in order to protect her. Also, to the past messiah for bearing all nine sorrows. Poor messiah for losing her friends as well. Rip everyone bascially, lol.
This cover is just so perfect and amazing! Bro I shed tears on that part .." and they freeze on her cheeks as she turns around". Roux is so perfect for Rin's part. Still haven't stop replaying this godly music! Again great cover Ham!
4:18 this part gives me chills every time. Just the look on Miku's face, and the meaning behind what they're all saying... such an beautiful, incredible song, an emotional story and a fantastic cover! Edit: btw, Chiisana's high note just shortly after is amazing! And also, I just realized I already commented on this video 2 years ago too lol
For the blessings were 9 sorrows in disguise And she raises her hands up towards the shrine What badass lines to end on, especially once you know the twist involving "ai" meaning both "love" and "sorrow" in Japanese depending on which kanji you use. Also it's my favorite-sounding part in the song.
I cannot believe you did Len's voice omg... I am so happy... I know you've done Len's voice before, but hearing you do Len's voice always impresses me to no ends.
As much as I love this song and the turn of the blessings actually being murder dungeons, why in the hell would the messiah continue parading her friends around after like the 5th time they "betray" her?? Did she not notice a pattern? Futhermore, what the heck did she think happened to them after the walls slammed shut on her friends? Did she not at any point think "huh, I wonder how they get out of that goddamn blessing room"?
Maybe I can peek in and see how good kaito's doing being drowned and all, maybe chack in Rin frozen to the floor and Gumi being struck by lightning? Nah, privacy dude. They need to die while havin a rockin' time!
I think she wasn't really able to fight them for it lol. I mean like 9 vs one girl messiah. They likely rushed to grab the "blessings" before Miku could really react and stop them
After Kaito died the other 6 Except Rin and Len Just quickly Blitz through the tower since they already decided before what Punishments they wanna have when they Read the scroll And Miku was just confused and depressed
Personally, I think they were in a giant hall and after one blessing was taken, then the next one opens, and it just happened so quickly and in such quick succession that Miku didn't even get a chance to stop them. I mean, after Kaito, it was pretty quick succession of Meiko, Ia, Miyu, Gakupo, Gumi, a brief pause as Miku is muddled in confusion and asking what the fuck is going on and, then Luka goes, and then a longer pause before Rin and Len are gone. Even if she tried to stop them, she'd still be outnumbered, and she still believed they were all her friends until Len betrayed her, and then she finally acknowledged how "wrong" she was. Additionally, in other translations, the line "All 9 of the blessings have been stolen" translates to "the blessings were stolen before she had known it".
It took me a while to figure out that as each of her friends took a blessing/atonement their face disappeared, almost as if symbolizing their deaths. At the end of the song, after the final line sung but before the song has fully ended, Miku's face disappears too, like she couldn't handle the truth of what her friends had done for her and she threw herself off the tower to commit suicide.
Nah, it wasn't suicide. According to the wiki, the Messiah was supposed to be the sacrifice. Her life force was used to power the world. The "blessings" were meant to be trials to see if she could do it, and either she could take them all for herself, or split it among 9 people. The Messiah was always destined to die. Her friends simply decided that she would not die alone, nor would she suffer alone, on par with their promise of "facing their fortune and pain as one".

There's an interesting yet sad theory that the [Blessing] was the [Atonement] of the savior, there must be sacrifices for the [Blessings] to be activated. The punishments represent each different crime. - Drowning in the sea = Sin of Wrath - Jumping into hell fire = Crime of assault - Death due to drought = Crime of Greed - Lost in the dark = Sin of not believing in the existence of God. - Buried in the ground = Sin of Fraud - Being struck by lightning = The Crime of Gluttony - Shredded by the wind = Sin of Lust - Frozen = Betrayal - Crawling on fire = Sin of heresy Although these saviors did not commit any of these sins, they must be punished on behalf of humans.
So I'm probably reading too much into this, and I googled all these definitions, but: 1. Young man - Kaito - Sea ("kai" can mean "sea" in Japanese) 2. Swordsman - Meiko - Fire (Meiko can mean "bright child") 3. Older sister - IA - Light (I got nothing for this one lol, I guess IA is "ai" backwards and "ai" means love? love = light?) 4. Younger sister - Mayu - Darkness ("yu" can mean "evening") 5. Monk - Gakupo - Earth ("gaku" can mean "mountain") 6. Poet - Gumi - Thunder (again, I've got nothing for this one, Gumi can mean "kindness, fruit" but it can also mean "deep red") 7. Dancer - Luka - Wind (sadly I wasn't able to find much for this one, but Luka apparently can mean "light"? But she took wind, so I don't know lol) 8. Older twin sister - Rin - Ice (Rin can mean "cold") 9. Younger twin brother - Len - Magma (once again, I have nothing) 10. Lumberjack's daughter - Miku - Messiah ("mi" can mean "beautiful" and "ku" can mean "sky" or "long time". It can also come from a nanori reading of "mirai" which means "future")
There are not enough words for me to describe how magnificent and powerful each vocalist put into this amazing song to tell such a good story. Now I shall constantly listen to this on repeat.
I forgot I even subbed to this channel, but when I heard that first voice, then all the other parts coming in, I remember why. It's because I love choruses, and this is truly beautiful. Fudge dang, I love the story so much! And this chorus just makes everything so intense
I keep having this idea that they didn't actually die when they took the 'blessings', but instead they just entered a state of mind where they suffered what they mentioned in the end Their bodies just suddenly kneel on the ground, eyes going blank like an android that had shut down, is what we see on the outside But what's happening inside their head, they are drowning in the sea/dancing in flames/dehydrating in a drought/going insane/crushed by the Earth/struck by lightning/getting cut in a tornado/freezing in a blizzard/crawling through lava... for all of eternity... not dead, but not fully alive either...
Now knowing that they sacrified themselves, when i look back at the part they started taking the powers/blessings, i realized that some of their faces had like a look of defeat or like accepting their fate and it's like the're trying to say "This is it." And when you read the lyrics , you start to realize that some of the lyrics had hidden meanings.
I just realised- the first time, when they take the 'blessings' you see the bad side, but the second time you can see that they're sacrificing themselves :0
Yessssss all of my favorite singers coming together to sing the English version of the most beautiful song I ever heard this is an absolute masterpiece like holy shit I needed this so badly. Love all of your work!!!!!!
This is purely my interpretations but here's the story as to how I understand it. In the end the whole journey was a reminder to humanity, that they are at the mercy of an almighty God, and the dire consequences of betraying him.
Actually the lore was revealed by the author themselves, the friends knew that the "blessings" were actually curses and pretended that they betrayed Miku because they knew if she knew hat they were planning she would stop them thus never completing the prophesy.
HOLY THIS IS SP POWERFUL AND SO BEAUTIFUL ;w; You all did such an awesome Job!! The Lyrics are wonderful, the Voices all so soft and at the same time so strong And the Feelings of the Song, alle the emotions are super amazing!!
I just noticed, on the line, "Stands there all by herself" the overlapping voices that have been going throughout the entire song suddenly stop, and the song finishes with only a single melody.
No words can describe how beautiful this is. I'm so happy half of my favorite singers took part in this and you all sounded so lovely. Truly a remarkable job you all did. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is so well done. I love each and everyone of their voices but combined they are so amazing I have no words. Beautifully done, easily one of my favorites
“Trusting that in sickness and health- no matter what happens, for whatever may come….we will face all our fortune and pain as ONE.” I love that line so much

I hate to be that person but could you imagine if this was an anime and through out it we learn the lore of this universe see the friends grow together while on this journey only for the finale to have all of them betray her one by one and as the viewers think all hope is lost we actually find out the last bit of lore about the sacrifices and the cycle of it all.

one of the friends: ok our friend is going to suffer all 9 sufferings but we are very good friends so we help her k?
the others:K
That friend : so we have 9 options who wants to take which one
(Awkard silence)
(after a minute)
One of the friends: What the xxxx is the difference?
another friend:simple, you choose what death u wnt
I feel like Kaito is "that friend" because he's the eldest male in the story and he was the first one to choose
Rose Yuen's friend is Gakupo because he can be pissy sometimes and he's the priest/monk in the story, so he just doesn't care how he dies, in the end still same
Lim Xuan Kai's friend is Len because he's being killed a lot in his vids also he's one of the youngest in the story making him very blunt
Lim Xuan Kai Friend: I want the blue death blessing
i think what happened was that they all knew that there was no such blessing, but what they only found out after Kaito took it is that they could move on if somebody else took the messiah's place. and so, they all silently unanimously decided to get the curses before miku could reach them hence the sudden competitive spirit.
Everytime I hear Len's part "crawling through fire", the way he says it makes me feel like that he is making it a point to let the Messiah know the pain he went through for her, like "hey don't forget that I CRAWLED THROUGH FIRE!!!"
And I fucking WATCH MY TWIN AND FRIENDS DIE.
4:11 drought she died of thirst that I think is worse
@@smokeynifty4376 depends i guess
All of the deaths are surely painful.
Hyporthemia is crazy, I read someone got their feet cut off because how cold it is.. and rin is not equiped with warm cloth
Drought, someone can last 3 days without drink
Burned alive, I read books about get burned down and it's honestly painful.
You died once your feet can no longer support you because of the heat.
can i just say that the person who voiced miku really killed it holy shit
in that last verse you can actually hear the emotion in her voice
"with this flame i'd received from my dearest friends
i will honour their lives and bring this to and end..."
Lockley IKR I DIE EVERYTIME
chiisana is such a goddess ♡♡♡
The high note though… O-O

Explaination for those who don't understand:
One day, the local seamstress of the "Village of Youth" (Miku) received a letter from the oracle of the nearby kingdom.
Thanks, now I feel sorry for them
Thanks, I needed this.
@The-Duckinator lol exposed
@The-Duckinator well now we dont have to go to the website to find it, it's right here.
Eow
I cried on the part where her friends sing to what happened to them and the background image of them looking at her like there face is saying we did it for you and the rest of the world. accepting their fate. While Comparing there face when they acted greedy and took the "blessings".
They we're curses jot blessings
I just realized that all these "Blessings" could be natural disasters too..? 🤔
The Blossoming Wave of the Sea - Tsunamis
The Fiery Feast - Forest Fires
The Graceful Sunlight - Drought
The Restful Darkness - Death/Disease
The Trembling Earth - Earthquakes
The Ambient Thunder - Thunder Strikes
The Whirlwind of Rondo - Hurricanes
The Silver Garden - Blizzards
The Quickening Magma - Volcanic Eruptions

I’m pretty sure that’s true because of the lyric

fugu matsuri THAT IS MY FAVORITE LINE OF THE SONG I AM SO GLAD IT PUNCHED U IN THE GUT CUZ IT KICKS ME EVERYTIM UGUUGUU
It’s dark irony cause the Silver Garden Blessing that she took was the nature of ice......
Thinking back on that part, it’s more like Rin was crying because she will be seperated from Len
Yeah these are the kinds of lyrics you’ll find another meaning the second time you listen to this song, actually this song has a ton of these kinds of lyrics
I wonder why the producer of the song loves to kill Rin via ice. Take note, they're the same people who made "Soundless Voice" and "Proof of Life".
Chilling, hehe
*..Chilling..?*
Dang, what a *cold* response
Okay but the tears in Ren's eyes as she looks at her twin brother for the last time yet still trying to stay in character by being taken over by greed 👀 gets me everytime

In 2:42 they say “Keeping it to yourself - we will not allow” and then you go and learn that they sacrificed so she wouldn’t suffer by herself. They didn’t allow her to keep the pain all to herself. I just -
Extra details to this song/movie/story:
• *INTERESTING!* Each of them have a red gem/stone with them as an acessory to mark their friendship. (Examples are Miku's necklace, Kaito's braclet, Meiko's hairpin) You can see more of their complete illustration of the Blessed Messiah and The Tower of Ai if you search it up.
• This cycle of saving their corrupted world happens every 15 years with finding new Messiahs (so it's kind of sad if you think of the lives lost.)
• Miku didn't know about the "blessings" actually being curses so her friends, who knew about it, hid that fact from her and sacrificed their lives for her (by making her think they're greedy) so she won't have to endure all the pain from the curses. (But I assume ya'll know about this already.)
• *INTERESTING!* Their singing lines during and starting from the part where Kaito was the first to betray Miku by "stealing" the blessing for himself were based of the fact when they entered. So when one after the other enters the room of the blessings, they didn't sing anymore (as they were undergoing their sufferings so I actually like this detail a lot to signify their loss already.)
• *INTERESTING!* When Miku walks up to the altar, she finds a shadowy figure just across from her who resembled a lot like Neru (also a vocaloid) so I assume 15 years ago, before Miku, Neru also had to endure the same situation where Miku was with her friends dying too and then that form disappeared after the cycle where Miku was in was complete.
• Tower of Ai - Tower of Love (I'd like to think that it meant that it was the tower of how the friends loved Miku so they died for her.)
And for Messiah, you could indeed say that the true Messiahs are her friends.
• In the end, we could see that the world had already returned back to normal but we don't know what happens after that, will Miku continue living normally? We don't know but it's sad to think.
another detail- in the name 'tower of ai', the word 'ai' can also mean sorrow ;w;
Its the Tower of Sorrow
You COULD say the true messiahs are her friends, but I believe it's more accurate to say Miku is the Messiah and her friends are all Martyrs
Wait but didn't she found out the true of the end of the blessings being a cursed?
it’s kinda funny cuz len sounds like he’s tryna rival with what rin said 💀’u were frozen? I WAS BURNT’ sibling rivalry at its finest
He would absolutely do that.
lil bro always trying to one up rin 😭 he took rin's "butterfly on your right shoulder" and ran with it, and his cover of lost one's weeping in pjsk is too good, like he was totally trying to one up her at her own song again 💀
This is so badass, great job everyone!

Hola.
Hello.
Bonjour.
Hej.
Idk what i'm doing.
Lyrics
K=Kaito Me=Meiko IA=IA Ma=Mayu Ga=Gakupo
Gu=Gumi Ri=Rin Lu=Luka Le=Len Mi=Miku
K: In a land on the brink of its demise
Me: Ten wretched children left behind
IA: Little hands holding on to dear life
Ma: And each other
Ga: Trusting that in sickness and health
Gu: No matter what happens
Ri: For what-
Ri/Lu: -ever may come
Mi/Le: "We will face all
our fortune and pain as one"
Ri: We have all been told the story
Foolish, arrogant men overstepped
the boundaries of god
Le: Heaven sent their judgement
and then all was lost
IA: In the midst of all destruction
Shielding the world from
ruin is the “Tower of Ai”
Ma: That is where the life
of the earth still burns on...
Gu: From another distant kingdom,
Came a messenger bearing
a letter to the youths
Me: The words of prophecy
Mi: That the lumber cutter’s daughter
would receive the high
honor of the next messiah’s role
Le/Lu: And so we will accept that fate
IA: Within the tower
Ga: Hidden far away
IA: The blessings reside
Ga: With the nine of us
Mi/Ri: Only the messiah can retrieve
the glory inside
K: So we will go with you
Le: to the tower
K: as we all
Le/Me: search for the way
K: So that our town
Me: So that our world
Ri: On the brink
Ri/Gu: of death can be saved
Me: If you wish to bring blessing
to the land
Ga: Go forward with all of your heart
Ma: Try to hold onto glory in your hands
Le: With all of your strength
IA: Pressing onward alongside
your trusted friends
Gu: Helping one another
Ma: Then the fear that you feel
Le/Lu: will all come to an end
Mi/Ri: And the very first blessing
will be
K: Inside a swirling pool of life
Mi/Ri: the "Blossoming Wave" of the sea
K: And she enters now
Mi: But another hand reaches out
K: Overlapping
Mi: And the young man
Mi/K: then sung...
K: "We will face all our
fortune and pain as one!" (laughs)
Mi: The messiah could do nothing,
watching as the first blessing
was quickly taken away
Me: From that moment
friendship would turn into hate
Mi: Entering the second chamber
Bloody red began burning
within the swordsman’s eyes
Me: As she took the "Fiery Feast"
by her side
IA: Next they found the
"Graceful Sunlight"
Which was won over by older sister’s
open hands, as she smiled happily
Ma: Running off in irritation
Little sister moved towards
the "Restful Darkness" and she
would never be seen again...
Mi: "But the prophecy said,"
Gu: Keeping it to yourself...
Mi: "The chosen one is me..."
Ga: We will not allow!
Mi/Gu: Just how much can
someone truly be altered by greed?
Ga: The monk began to chant
Mi: a prayer to
Ga: the almighty
Ga/Lu: "Trembling Earth"
Gu: And the poet wrote
Lu: to the "Ambient
Gu: Thunder" her
Gu/Mi: most powerful words
Ri: If you wish to bring
blessing to the land
Le: Then you must sharpen heart and mind
Lu: Try to hold onto glory in your hands
Le: Quickly as you can
Mi: Where have you all gone off to,
my trusted friends?
Lu: Who is your enemy?
Mi: Could it be I was wrong
Ri/Lu: about our kindness all along?
Ri/Lu: Now the "Whirlwind Rondo"'s
taken by
Le: the dancer swaying in its air
Mi/Ri: And the older twin leaves her
brother’s side
Le: Pushing him away
Ri: Claiming the "Silver Garden"
Le: With joyful
Ri/Le: Tears streaming down
And they freeze on her
cheeks as she turns around
Mi: With the very last blessing
in front of her
Le: The "Quickening Magma" is
about to stir
Mi: The younger twin pretended, but
in the end the messiah was lied, to....
Le: Laughing, the boy seemed to glow
in his pride
Mi: Betrayed by the companions that
IA: she had believed in
Mi: All nine of the “blessings” in this
Mi/Lu: world have been stolen now
Mi: Holding up a torch whose
Ma: flame has long gone away
Mi/Me: She walks up towards the altar...
IA: Within the tower
Ga: Sealed out of sight
IA: the “blessings” await
Ga: to explain the
Ma/Gu: meaning of the penance
that the messiah had paid
K: Carrying what you have lost
Le: to the tower
K: the messiah
Le/Lu: made it this far
K: With the single hope
Me: we will see the day
Ri: our beloved
Ri/Me: world can restart...
K: Even as I was swallowed by the sea
Me: Dancing in flames surrounding me
IA: Even as I fell down to my knees
in the drought
Ma: Even as I lost my mind to the dark
unknown
Ga: Devoured by the great earth
K/Me: Did you think that we would,
Ga/Ma/IA: let you go on all alone?
Gu: Screaming out as the lightning
struck me down
Lu: Shredded in blades of the wind
Ri: With my body and heart frozen
to the ground
Le: Crawling through fire
Gu: Knowing that in sickness and health
Lu: No matter what happens
Gu: For what
Gu/Lu: ever may come
Ri/Le: "We will face all our fortune
and pain as one!"
Mi: Here I stand to pass on the
cursed torch
K: nine sacrifices in her hands
Mi: And the cycle’s completed once more
Me: We are not the last
Mi: With this flame I recieved
from my dearest friends
IA: Anything to help you
Mi: I will honor their lives
Mi/Ri/IA: And bring this to an end...
Mi/Ma: Now the morning bells mark
the break of dawn
Ga/Gu: The sound of glory echoing...
Mi: The messiah who has
Mi/Ma: taken on
Ga/Gu: all of God’s will
Mi/Lu: stands there all by herself,
and she laughs to the sky…
Mi: (laughs)
Mi/Le: For the “blessings”
were nine “sorrows” in disguise
And she raises her hands
up towards the shrine
No, this is not “Me”!
TT

As their characters die, their vocaloid icon disappears ;;;;
enmei so that meant Miku died at the end. Her icon disappears :-:
They did not die
@@elianacastillo5962 what happend to them then?
The Nine Blessings were actually things that the Messiah would have to suffer through, but her friends decided they would sacrifice themselves instead, so in a way they die, but simply suffer eternally.
Death would seem preferrable than suffering for the next 15 years.
I'm just stating what I think.
nice, loved how you explained everything : )
I'd sacrifice people to the tower god to hear more collabs from ham
kentamidorin don't let miku hear that

Okay, as soon as Kaito went up I'm thinking "He's taking on a burden for her" especially with the way the chamber door closed shut, but then the greedy faces, so then I'm like "No?"
But *_yes_*
And by that point I was ready to cry

GOOD JOB AS KAITO!!!
You guys' voices are absolutely amazing, man. ;A;
Huh, I just observed something.
Wow... That's such a great analysis!
I noticed that shadowed girl, but I didn't understand why she was there. What you said makes so much sense!
I reader it off here. vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/%E7%A5%9D%E7%A6%8F%E3%81%AE%E3%83%A1%E3%82%B7%E3%82%A2%E3%81%A8%E3%82%A2%E3%82%A4%E3%81%AE%E5%A1%94_(Shukufuku_no_Messiah_to_Ai_no_Tou)
I'm not sure how accurate it is but I assume that every new messiah is "created" every 15 tears but not specifically born at that time. We're not exactly sure about the entire concept of the story in this song because it isn't a full written on out story so there wouldn't be really a way to know for sure. We can only assume though.
Captain here: The side-ponytail girl is most likely Akane Neru.
Aaaaahhhh
Cammie Mile i think you mean Yamasankakkei.
Katherina Halim she’s including hitoshizuku p too
I feel like team OS would be more accurate
Something else that's pretty awesome is the fact that this is alluded to, ever so slightly, before the group even enters the tower.
"Only the Messiah can receive the Glory inside."
Makes sense that all the people that worked with the Messiah got the curses that the blessings held, even as the man lied that he would be facing all the fortune and pain as one.
The older sister is the Vocaloid called IA :)
Younger sister is Mayu ^-^
I felt sooooooooooo lucky living in this world!
For me, I'd rather think that Mayu (the younger sister, I think) ran to the darkness probably to grieve because she couldn't bear to know what would happen to her elder sister at the Graceful Sunlight, and hurried over to the Restful Darkness to follow her.
Nice job explaining, though!
Yes! It came out fantastic :D
thank you

Helen CHAN oOf
This would explain lines like "Who is your enemy" and "Can someone be truly altered by "Greed""
I know this is long but I just wanted to throw out my thoughts on this amazing song and express my opinion that the singers, many of which I listen to quite a bit, did a fantastic job and I applaud them for taking the time and making what I'm sure was a challenging effort to make this wonderful cover.
Good job guys and keep up the good work, it is truly appreciated!!! God bless you all!!!
PurpleTigerGirl1619 me before reading this comment: huh... no way they'll have the same thing I'm thinking
Me after reading this: You... you mind reader...
Another point: Ren almost cracks her “joyful tears” she could actually be sad and crying or joyful that the world has a second chance.
PurpleTigerGirl1619 Thank you so much! I needed this comment! My friend asked me to ''animate it'' so I watched it, but I didn't understand what was going on, so I couldn't really do anything with it, but now I understand the story! THANK YOU!
This makes sense
Plus, right when Kaito shoves Miku out of the way, he claims that ‘We will face all our fortune and pain as one’ yet again. At this moment it can be taken in the more fortune way. He stole the first ‘Blessing’. They’d face their fortune as one, in such he’d steal the blessing from the messiah for the power it would give. However, when it’s revealed the blessings were sorrows in disguise this line makes more sense looking at the pain. They will all share in this pain for Mimi’s sake. So the world can be reborn.
*waits patiently for someone to properly explain the story while replaying the song endlessly cause it's so freaking good*
DemonPrincessMitsu VA So there is a messiah that has to go through this tower the tower of ai to prevent many natural disasters the messiah is part of a group of orphans so they join her in her quest and they begin to steal her "power" when she gets to the top of the tower she learns they were taking her pain for her because they didn't want them to feel pain meaning they all sacrificed themselves for her.
I didn't think about it that way! That's a great interpretation.

It’s funny how at the end, all the people singing are somewhat long sentences, and the there’s Len at the end.

We also have Devoured by the Great Earth
will we ever have an era like this again in the english dub vocaloid community? one can only hope.
You know how some people are like "this amount of people missed the like button"
Well, I just looked back and realized I had disliked this 😳
I literally missed the button
It happens.
(Yes, I fixed my mistake and liked this, don't worry)
Oof
oh my god i did this too, 4 years or so ago for another video, and just realized a few weeks ago when i watched the vid again
Whoops, looked like I missed the dislike button!
ストーリーとか曲調が、和風と言うよりかは外国っぽいから、 英語で歌うと雰囲気出て感動する!
transulate below!

I didn't know why it wasn't taken down then I remembered I lived on top of the US Sorry for you guys in the US :( (Donald Trump's down there :(
Olivia MeowKittyFace me too
This cover, and your mistletoe cover, are so amazing! I don't think I've ever heard people that sing english covers of vocaloid songs that write the lyrics to match the original rhythm of the songs so closely before.
she's amazing
Agreed
blinxguy RAZZY WAS ALSO THERE いx募っ立xツッ?
Hi everyone ~ this cover is currently undergoing the 2nd appeal process, let's pray that it stays up ♡ Thanks for all your support!
SirHamnet hey Ham, I know this is an odd question to place here but I'm actually planning out a live vocaloid panel for a con in my state and we were actually going to sing this as our last song. I wanted to make sure it was okay for us to use the lyrics and if you'd like I'm planning on filming the panel so we can post this song up for you to see as well
behold the collaboration of a lifetime
Rin was crying, but putting act on it. If you pay attention there was a trace of tears.. their act is truly good...
Love the translation of the last verses. Makes more sense than the translated portion of in that part of the song.
"For the blessings were 9 sorrows in disguise"
vs
"She has just created 9 sorrows"
ham. That "pushing him away" and "crawling through the fire" get me every time. I'm trying to listen all the way through but I keep rewinding to hear those again. How are you so amazing, I want to try and own my low notes like that.
Najea Broadnax omg CRIES TEARS OF HAPPINESS thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Considering the Japanese meaning, "Did you think that we would let you go on all alone?" can also be translated as "We won't let you die alone." The verb "Iku" in the Japanese lyrics "Ikasehashinai" has the meanings of both "go" and "die."
行く = go, 逝く = die
IA is the older sister and Mayu is the younger sister,Rin is the older twin and Len is the younger twin. Mekio is the swordsman,Kaito might be the head chef of the village “young man”. Gakupo is a monk,Gumi is a poet. Luka is a dancer. Miku is the Messiah.
IA and Mayu i think are bakers while Rin and Len are shepherds
So good there are tears in my eyes!!! Thanks for asking me to this, you've done an amazing job with it all!
THNK YOU ROAD!!! this song still kills me evrytim and thanks so much for being part of it! ////
i dont know what's worse, dying in pain or living knowing that you damned your friends names when they sacrificed their lives for you
That's why the younger sister was so pissed at the older one!
( Edit: Which we know at the end, but it’s a cool detail that it was hinted at from the beginning )
Also OMG all y’all’s voices are beautiful 🤩
Omg this turned out so amazing! So much work went into this! Great job everyone!
omg Joy I love your covers so much, will you ever think about songs like "tree maiden" or "daughter of white"??
thank you for being part of it!!!!! your tone is so gorgeous in this as always > 7 < merry christmas to you too!
you were amazing I jumped out of my seat when I saw that you were playing in this
Merry Christmas
Remember that's Chrismas‥‥‥
Anyone else notice that each member has a red jewel somewhere on their outfits? I just thought it was a cool detail, maybe it symbolizes their bond or something...
Miku and Gumi: Necklace
Kaito: Bracelet
Meiko: Hair ornament
Ia and Mayu: Anklet
Gakupo: Head accessory
Luka: Waist accessory
Rin and Len: Collar Accessory
This chorus is just so amazing in the vocals and the lyrics was well-written. It's so sad about their fates and how they have to put on this act of betraying her in order to protect her. Also, to the past messiah for bearing all nine sorrows. Poor messiah for losing her friends as well. Rip everyone bascially, lol.
1:29 this, whoever voiced meiko i just wanna say SLAY QUEENN 😍😍😍
just as always, ham makes a video that makes me replay for an entire week
so are you a moderator yet
I showed this song to my friend who hasnt ever heard any of these artists before so she called him "Flower ham" and I was all like LMAO. XD
Ikr, I've been listening to this song repeatedly for, like, a week, XD
This cover is just so perfect and amazing! Bro I shed tears on that part .." and they freeze on her cheeks as she turns around". Roux is so perfect for Rin's part. Still haven't stop replaying this godly music! Again great cover Ham!
Kuraudo X I am so stunned by her voice in this too IM GLAD YOU AGREEE♡♡
4:18 this part gives me chills every time. Just the look on Miku's face, and the meaning behind what they're all saying... such an beautiful, incredible song, an emotional story and a fantastic cover!
Edit: btw, Chiisana's high note just shortly after is amazing! And also, I just realized I already commented on this video 2 years ago too lol
実力派揃いでそれぞれ個性も強いのに合わさったときのバランスが凄くいいし感情が伝わってくる
本家とこの動画は聴いていると涙があふれてきちゃう( ꒦ິ^꒦ິ )
OMG IT'S OUT
bless all you perfect beings
and thanks as always to goddess ham for making the impossible possible
BLESS U TOO
For the blessings were 9 sorrows in disguise
And she raises her hands up towards the shrine
What badass lines to end on, especially once you know the twist involving "ai" meaning both "love" and "sorrow" in Japanese depending on which kanji you use. Also it's my favorite-sounding part in the song.
Seeing all these amazing vocalist collabing TOGETHER makes me fangirl like that season 2 of aot, blue exorcist, and the seven deadly sins
Oh yeah aot season 2 😍✊
I cannot believe you did Len's voice omg... I am so happy... I know you've done Len's voice before, but hearing you do Len's voice always impresses me to no ends.
Sayuri Zoldyck omg this is all my goals in life, to become the voice of a 14 yr old boy //////////
Shhhhh it's a fairytale
I'm so happy this is available in the US again! Yay.

K: In a land on the brink of its demise
Me: Ten wretched children left behind
IA: Little hands holding on to dear life
Ma: And each other
Ga: Trusting that in sickness and health
Gu: No matter what happens
Ri: For what-
Ri/Lu: -ever may come
Mi/Le: "We will face all
our fortune and pain as one"
Ri: We have all been told the story
Foolish, arrogant men overstepped
the boundaries of god
Le: Heaven sent their judgement
and then all was lost
IA: In the midst of all destruction
Shielding the world from
ruin is the “Tower of Ai”
Ma: That is where the life
of the earth still burns on...
Gu: From another distant kingdom,
Came a messenger bearing
a letter to the youths
Me: The words of prophecy
Mi: That the lumber cutter’s daughter
would receive the high
honor of the next messiah’s role
Le/Lu: And so we will accept that fate
IA: Within the tower
Ga: Hidden far away
IA: The blessings reside
Ga: With the nine of us
Mi/Ri: Only the messiah can retrieve
the glory inside
K: So we will go with you
Le: to the tower
K: as we all
Le/Me: search for the way
K: So that our town
Me: So that our world
Ri: On the brink
Ri/Gu: of death can be saved
Me: If you wish to bring blessing
to the land
Ga: Go forward with all of your heart
Ma: Try to hold onto glory in your hands
Le: With all of your strength
IA: Pressing onward alongside
your trusted friends
Gu: Helping one another
Ma: Then the fear that you feel
Le/Lu: will all come to an end
Mi/Ri: And the very first blessing
will be
K: Inside a swirling pool of life
Mi/Ri: the "Blossoming Wave" of the sea
K: And she enters now
Mi: But another hand reaches out
K: Overlapping
Mi: And the young man
Mi/K: then sung...
K: "We will face all our
fortune and pain as one!" (laughs)
Mi: The messiah could do nothing,
watching as the first blessing
was quickly taken away
Me: From that moment
friendship would turn into hate
Mi: Entering the second chamber
Bloody red began burning
within the swordsman’s eyes
Me: As she took the "Fiery Feast"
by her side
IA: Next they found the
"Graceful Sunlight"
Which was won over by older sister’s
open hands, as she smiled happily
Ma: Running off in irritation
Little sister moved towards
the "Restful Darkness" and she
would never be seen again...
Mi: "But the prophecy said,"
Gu: Keeping it to yourself...
Mi: "The chosen one is me..."
Ga: We will not allow!
Mi/Gu: Just how much can
someone truly be altered by greed?
Ga: The monk began to chant
Mi: a prayer to
Ga: the almighty
Ga/Lu: "Trembling Earth"
Gu: And the poet wrote
Lu: to the "Ambient
Gu: Thunder" her
Gu/Mi: most powerful words
Ri: If you wish to bring
blessing to the land
Le: Then you must sharpen heart and mind
Lu: Try to hold onto glory in your hands
Le: Quickly as you can
Mi: Where have you all gone off to,
my trusted friends?
Lu: Who is your enemy?
Mi: Could it be I was wrong
Ri/Lu: about our kindness all along?
Ri/Lu: Now the "Whirlwind Rondo"'s
taken by
Le: the dancer swaying in its air
Mi/Ri: And the older twin leaves her
brother’s side
Le: Pushing him away
Ri: Claiming the "Silver Garden"
Le: With joyful
Ri/Le: Tears streaming down
And they freeze on her
cheeks as she turns around
Mi: With the very last blessing
in front of her
Le: The "Quickening Magma" is
about to stir
Mi: The younger twin pretended, but
in the end the messiah was lied, to....
Le: Laughing, the boy seemed to glow
in his pride
Mi: Betrayed by the companions that
IA: she had believed in
Mi: All nine of the “blessings” in this
Mi/Lu: world have been stolen now
Mi: Holding up a torch whose
Ma: flame has long gone away
Mi/Me: She walks up towards the altar...
IA: Within the tower
Ga: Sealed out of sight
IA: the “blessings” await
Ga: to explain the
Ma/Gu: meaning of the penance
that the messiah had paid
K: Carrying what you have lost
Le: to the tower
K: the messiah
Le/Lu: made it this far
K: With the single hope
Me: we will see the day
Ri: our beloved
Ri/Me: world can restart...
K: Even as I was swallowed by the sea
Me: Dancing in flames surrounding me
IA: Even as I fell down to my knees
in the drought
Ma: Even as I lost my mind to the dark
unknown
Ga: Devoured by the great earth
K/Me: Did you think that we would,
Ga/Ma/IA: let you go on all alone?
Gu: Screaming out as the lightning
struck me down
Lu: Shredded in blades of the wind
Ri: With my body and heart frozen
to the ground
Le: Crawling through fire
Gu: Knowing that in sickness and health
Lu: No matter what happens
Gu: For what
Gu/Lu: ever may come
Ri/Le: "We will face all our fortune
and pain as one!"
Mi: Here I stand to pass on the
cursed torch
K: nine sacrifices in her hands
Mi: And the cycle’s completed once more
Me: We are not the last
Mi: With this flame I recieved
from my dearest friends
IA: Anything to help you
Mi: I will honor their lives
Mi/Ri/IA: And bring this to an end...
Mi/Ma: Now the morning bells mark
the break of dawn
Ga/Gu: The sound of glory echoing...
Mi: The messiah who has
Mi/Ma: taken on
Ga/Gu: all of God’s will
Mi/Lu: stands there all by herself,
and she laughs to the sky…
Mi: (laughs)
Mi/Le: For the “blessings”
were nine “sorrows” in disguise
And she raises her hands
up towards the shrine....
There's an interesting yet sad theory that the [Blessing] was the [Atonement] of the savior, there must be sacrifices for the [Blessings] to be activated. The punishments represent each different crime.
- Drowning in the sea = Sin of Wrath
- Jumping into hell fire = Crime of assault
- Death due to drought = Crime of Greed
- Lost in the dark = Sin of not believing in the existence of God.
- Buried in the ground = Sin of Fraud
- Being struck by lightning = The Crime of Gluttony
- Shredded by the wind = Sin of Lust
- Frozen = Betrayal
- Crawling on fire = Sin of heresy
Although these saviors did not commit any of these sins, they must be punished on behalf of humans.
So I'm probably reading too much into this, and I googled all these definitions, but:
1. Young man - Kaito - Sea ("kai" can mean "sea" in Japanese)
2. Swordsman - Meiko - Fire (Meiko can mean "bright child")
3. Older sister - IA - Light (I got nothing for this one lol, I guess IA is "ai" backwards and "ai" means love? love = light?)
4. Younger sister - Mayu - Darkness ("yu" can mean "evening")
5. Monk - Gakupo - Earth ("gaku" can mean "mountain")
6. Poet - Gumi - Thunder (again, I've got nothing for this one, Gumi can mean "kindness, fruit" but it can also mean "deep red")
7. Dancer - Luka - Wind (sadly I wasn't able to find much for this one, but Luka apparently can mean "light"? But she took wind, so I don't know lol)
8. Older twin sister - Rin - Ice (Rin can mean "cold")
9. Younger twin brother - Len - Magma (once again, I have nothing)
10. Lumberjack's daughter - Miku - Messiah ("mi" can mean "beautiful" and "ku" can mean "sky" or "long time". It can also come from a nanori reading of "mirai" which means "future")
日本人なのに知らなかったよw
I am shaking here with excitement
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS
There are not enough words for me to describe how magnificent and powerful each vocalist put into this amazing song to tell such a good story.
AmethystMoon Just as the first voice started singing , goosebumps arised from my whole being
i am a goosebump
I keep having this idea that they didn't actually die when they took the 'blessings', but instead they just entered a state of mind where they suffered what they mentioned in the end
Their bodies just suddenly kneel on the ground, eyes going blank like an android that had shut down, is what we see on the outside
But what's happening inside their head, they are drowning in the sea/dancing in flames/dehydrating in a drought/going insane/crushed by the Earth/struck by lightning/getting cut in a tornado/freezing in a blizzard/crawling through lava... for all of eternity... not dead, but not fully alive either...
Wow, they actually sound like the English versions of the Vocaloids
Daniel Anderson im flattered you think so!! im super proud of this cast ♡
Such beautiful voices! I can't get over this collab! Good grief! #Goals
I just realised- the first time, when they take the 'blessings' you see the bad side, but the second time you can see that they're sacrificing themselves :0
Right??? I kept rewatching this & showing it to people
And the first time I showed it to someone I noticed I just broke more ;;
This version or the ムラサギ version..
HELP ME, I'M TORN BETWEEN THE TWO VERSIONS
BOTH ARE EQUALLY AMAZING AND GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS
Holy Night Priscilla *inserts why not both meme* ♡♡♡
AAAAAA
Ham-senpai replied to me
I can die happy now
Yessssss all of my favorite singers coming together to sing the English version of the most beautiful song I ever heard this is an absolute masterpiece like holy shit I needed this so badly. Love all of your work!!!!!!
aww thank you so much!!😍😍
This is purely my interpretations but here's the story as to how I understand it.
After all the companions proved their loyalty and devotion, and The Messiah proved that she could withstand being betrayed by those she held dear, in the same way, their God was betrayed by humanity, the world's God decided to prolong the existence of their world.
I just have to come back and watch this every so often. Your cover is so beautiful.
HOLY THIS IS SP POWERFUL AND SO BEAUTIFUL ;w;
You all did such an awesome Job!! The Lyrics are wonderful, the Voices all so soft and at the same time so strong
And the Feelings of the Song, alle the emotions are super amazing!!
Cereza cries THANK YOUUUU IM SO PROUD AND IMpRESSED BY THIS CAST and so humbled to work with them all //screams
//Screams with you
THE CAST IS JUST PERFECT!! EVERYONE SUITS HIS/HER VOCALOID CAST SO WELL HEH!!!
I just noticed, on the line, "Stands there all by herself" the overlapping voices that have been going throughout the entire song suddenly stop, and the song finishes with only a single melody.
This is all I need for Christmas.
Gonna miss you JoyDreamer. Wish you didnt have to delete all your stuff and channel too. You're covers were great to brighten our day to day life.
“Trusting that in sickness and health- no matter what happens, for whatever may come….we will face all our fortune and pain as ONE.” I love that line so much
1:42 Meiko comforting IA (who seems to have a breakdown) also Len and Gakupo comforting Rin (who seems to be afraid) 🥲🥲😭😭
I love how they sang the "Claiming the Silver Garden with joyful tears streaming down", they didn't include the 'joyful' word on roux(Rin) line.
That ONE dislike is killing me
Sakura Sylveon it was..... ME
