Hey Paul great chat. My main experience giving up and then receiving was with love! Didn't find my true life partner until I gave up looking and started just doing what was right for me. Then......Bam!!

Another great video Paul. Many thanks for sharing your wisdom and insights with us. I can relate to the mind being like an slippery eel :) This idea of letting go and becoming Zero as Hatsumi Soke would often mention it s not an easy concept to grasp. I experienced it when I took my godan test after failing it the previous year having had multiple attempts. This time at the end of training in Ayase my name was called to come up to take the test. I had been training with a new friend who had passed the Goadn test already and I quickly asked him if he had any words of wisdom to share with me before I took my test. He said very casually “ Que sera sera… whatever it meant to happen will happen so don’t even worry about it”. In that moment that is exactly what I needed to hear. I just went up there and had no expectations and didn’t try to do anything. Compared to my first attempts where I tried so hard to not apply all that I had learned in my years of training to pass the test. Looking back now I really appreciate the fact that had those two very different experiences that help me see the difference between the two attitudes.

Nobody becomes enlighten because the one that would "become enlighten" and "that changes" is "the eel". The whole process is about something else.
Love and best of wishes for you Paul.

These talks are great, man. On the topic of nobody and martial work, this makes me think of Systema training (don't know if you're familiar). Systema is all shizen no kamae type stuff, natural body movement and power. And naturality as you know can be difficult as we have mental and physical problems in the way. So the training is 'basically' endless series of exercises/movement and variations of push ups, squats, abs, crawling on your fists, your back, breakfalls, whatever in whatever situation all the while doing full body relaxation and breath work, so you can learn natural, relaxed movement, powered by breathwork. So you know, to learn, you're exhausted, you're getting hit and pushed and pulled in that state, and you just move in that feeling of relaxed exhaustion, focusing instead on to that tether of breathing, going inward to find the answers that manifest outwards. And all your programs and your 'muscular desires' are slowly blown away, you are a no-body...the eels have left the building...and then you can work, naturally, without predisposition.
Anyway, keep 'em coming. Looking very much forward to the next. Cheers.

Very well said. Thank you for calling out "sports yoga" and bringing out the essence of what the science of Yogais!
Mordern postures are anyway based on European calisthenics and Russian gymnastics.
Yoga is a "moksha Shastra" or liberation science. ❤️

The goal rarely gives the benifit we expect...
Be the potatoe that softens when in boiling water... when it is appropriate to do that.
Be the egg that hardens when in boiling water... when it is appropriate to do THAT.
    Love this video. thank you!

Now that you´ve pointed out some good things about some unfortunate things that has happened to Yoga I get curious to hear what you think about Elon Musk and his ability to overperform and overachieve. Personally I think it´s both amazing and scary, because not many humans are capable of doing it at that level. Even his nearest rivals/competitors are puzzled about how he does that well. I think the prize for that enourmous succes is extremely high.

Enlightenment is such a beautiful trap. it holds you because you hold it... in a balanced cat and mouse game it is hard to see what is the trap and what is your ego trapping you from realizing the trap... you desire to beat it in blind acquiescence to it... loving the power you feel in ignorance of your current state... beautifully built of the narcissistic desire to live in idolatry of superior humility... once you recognize it you lose it... How foolish, How funny, How human. The relationship between this and Muto Dori is found in the monkey trap... silly monkey let go of the nuts in the jar to free your hand because here come the man with the stick. But the man with stick causes panic and the hand feels more trapped... just let go.
