    Just bought one. It’s brilliant! I’m a software developer and it means I can work productively on a laptop now, and get away from the 27 inch iMac and being stuck to a desk. Mine is i7 and it’s smooth and quick.

    I had the zenbook pro duo for 2 weeks. I’d say this is the best laptop I ever owned. I don’t think any laptop will ever come close to it. I watch more video on the second screen then the main screen. The 4K OLED screen is so bright it burns my eyes. I watch a movie,TH-cam and browsing the internet at the same time. Best investment I have ever made.

    If it’s powerful enough for it I can see how the extra screen might be useful for video editing programs. However without trying it myself I just can’t imagine how it would be better for painting than something lighter in weight. Also those jagged lines... sheesh.

    I honestly went into this video thinking the 2nd screen would be a total gimmick for me, but after a few minutes of you talking about it, I think it'd be pretty nifty, especially for reference materials! The only thing that lost me was...you bet, N-trig. Curse you, N-trig!!!!! I'd really like to see this idea implemented further, though, especially by more art-oriented brands (that DON'T use N-trig!!!)

    I have watched a LOT of reviews for this laptop since I decided to buy one and this is the FIRST one I've come across that has shown the issue with the stylus jitter. Thank you for actually using the laptop a little before reviewing it!

    • @zORg_alex
      @zORg_alex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That wave is because N-trig. A year ago when I saw it for the first time on LTT, I immediately looked what tech they use for stylus and realized that it is that shitty one. It's kind of good enough for notes and quick drafts but it will never replace a semi decent drawing tablet. I wanted to buy this one nevertheless. Those two screens look badass and are actually nifty. I always lack another screen on my laptop.

    I fell out of love with the Surface drawing tech sadly... So knowing this uses the same tech doesn’t thrill me, it’s a neat idea though! I think the computer would be amazing for video editors! The ability to have the timeline or maybe effects controls on the bottom screen is really useful, but for drawing... nah. I love seeing new technology develop though so I’m excited either way!

    Maybe Huion could start licensing out some of its EMR tech. N-trig has got to go.
    The dual screen looks OK, but side car works better IMO.

    • @zORg_alex
      @zORg_alex 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well EMR is a Wacoms technology as well as AES. And it is less energy efficient comparing to N-trig. I have no idea why nobody is even trying to do more products with them. AES can have pens with batteries, thus preserving some power. But AES is even more expensive to EMR to produce.

    Thanks for the review Brad - great info as usual! Have you tried the line quality on the Asus screen with a Microsoft Surface pen? I have seen you reviews of less expensive N-trig pens on a Surface Pro 7. It seems the degree of waviness in a ruled line is quite dependent on the pen rather than the screen, so I wonder whether using a Surface pen on the Asus Zenbook Duo screen would give less waviness.

    Would you recommend this laptop for heavy music production?
    I need something powerfull, that can handle heavu cpu usage and multithreading tasks.
    But it also needs to be light and smooth enough for regular transportation. Good battery time And also look professional would be good.
    So I have my mind on this one.. what do you think?

    • @NostalgicVibes
      @NostalgicVibes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, this would do just fine for music production. Really anything with 16GB of RAM(You could get away with 8GB) and a processor with minimum of 4 cores. You could get away with less cores, but it wouldn't be fun lol. The more cores the better. Also an SSD is a must, but that's pretty much standard on all mid-high end laptops. You don't need anything with a crazy good graphics card either. You could honestly spend like minimum $700 and have a laptop that does good in a DAW.
      EDIT: How much of a budget are you looking at? I can give you a whole list of laptops that are great on price to performance and will do great for music production.
      Also to put it into perspective. I had a laptop with a quad core i7 @ like 3.4GHZ turbo boost, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, 512GB SSD(500mbps read/write speeds), and an integrated GPU and I never had a single issue whatsoever with Ableton Live + Plug-ins like Serum and what not.

    It has an SSD not an SSD hard drive. a "Hard Disk Drive" (HDD) or short "Hard Drive" (HD) works with a rotating disk that is being magnetized to store data.
    A SSD "Solid State Drive" has no moving parts, is more resiliant, more silent and faster.
    In this case its a special kind of SSD that makes use of PCIe lines instead of SATA which allows for even faster reads and writes.

    7:49 Apple's pr statements about why they won't make a touch screen laptop now make sense. We would almost never use the touch screen because it's "not where our hands are".
    Their statement felt like they just didn't want to be innovative, but seeing how I hardly use my surface book 2 touch screen unless I'm drawing, I now somewhat agree.

    • @djeieakekseki2058
      @djeieakekseki2058 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthony Baumgartner do you have any issues with surface book 2? Do you like the drawing and power and battery life?

    • @AnthonyBaumgartner72
      @AnthonyBaumgartner72 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@djeieakekseki2058 I love my Surface Book 2 overall. It's way more powerful than my base model surface Pro 4.
      Pretty much all these surface devices have the same drawing experience, provided they have similar specs. They do well for drawing but as Brad showed in past videos it's not on the same level as using the apple pencil. The app you're drawing in will play a bigger factor in how the drawing experience is too. Adobe Illustrator is amazing for it, but photoshop can be really laggy when drawing in bigger documents. Photoshop is slow in the first place, though. I prefer Affinity photo.
      Surface book 2's battery isn't outstanding and when you use it without the keyboard base expect only a 1-2 hours of battery time. I hardly ever seperate the screen from its base for this reason. With the base I get around 6-8 hours but not 17 hours as advertised. I do game, web, design work and video editing so I often have a lot of apps oppened at once which drains the battery faster.
      If you're looking for a powerful but portable touch screen windows computer that you can draw on, the surface book 2 is certainly a great option. If a surface book 3 is coming soon i would wait for that though.

    • @djeieakekseki2058
      @djeieakekseki2058 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anthony Baumgartner thanks! I really love to get a surface book at one point simply because there is nothing like it! I've searched for alternatives but can't find anything like this, it's a jack of all trades! But my concern is the price tag and reliability. I've heard a lot of stories about people opening it and seeing the screen is cracked or the fact that you can't repair it easily, the power supply issue that can't use the full potential of GTX 1060, the not so perfect N-Trig, driver issues and etc. I feel like Surface book 3 will be more repairable after seeing what they had done to surface laptop, the recent patent shows that they will fix the battery issues too. I believe they might fix the power supply and the pen support might get better ( I don't expect Apple level pencil ). A more powerful GPU and CPU coupled with a 120 he screen will make it perfect!

    As someone who illustrates with a Wacom intuos pro, the second screen is completely useless. If I turn it on then my tablet gets divided even further and becomes hard to use. I wish there is a button to lock the second screen into display only mode. Also if you keep the second screen off for too long you will have to restart the computer to get it to turn on again. That being said the color is gorgeous on this laptop.

    You know, this might be a wash as a drawing laptop, but I can see a future for this device as a portable 3D workstation. Blender is all about having multiple windows open at once--I could see myself putting the 3D view in the top window and the shader editor in the bottom. Or the dopesheet. Or the video editor. Or whatever it is I need at the moment. It even has a numpad of sorts: currently when I'm away from the main rig, I use a Surface and I have to lug around a USB numpad with it.

    I much rather have Lenovos foldable screen tablet. It makes a big screen portable. The touchscreen keyboard would work fine for short notes, and when needed add a portable keyboard for longer typing.
