      Baking soda has sodium overdosing on baking soda has caused heart arrhythmias for some individuals. There have also been cases of baking soda overdoses causing cardiac arrest. It is not a long term solution. It's all about balancing the system in a holistic manner. I've known many people who have utilized alkaline water to balance the body overcoming many health issues.

      Pretty much, there’s plenty of research on bicarbonate ingestion and in order to have and measurable effect on blood ph, you literally have to take tens of grams of the stuff. alkaline water has virtually no impact. Alkaline water is useful for people with Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) or silent reflux which can cause Globus sensation and hoarsness of the voice. Pepsin can vaporise and lodge in the throat, ears, nose, larynx and either burn and irritate through reacidification (when eating acidic foods/drinks) or endocytosis where it is shuttled into the golgi apparatus of the cells and causes damage. Water with a PH of 9+ can permanently deactivate any pepsin in those areas until the next reflux event. There are good data to support Alkaline water along with a Mediterranean plant based diet. PPI's which will decrease pepsin volume actually increase pepsin concentration 3x due to hyperplasia of the chief cells.

      Having COPD (typically cause by smoking) will lead to more retention of carbon dioxide would creates an acidic environment when dissolved in the blood plasma. Chronic kidney disease (most commonly cause by diabetes and high blood pressure) will lead to less production of bicarbonate ion which buffers acid, as this is produced in the kidney.

    I think nobody really knows tbh, so we have to figure this stuff out for ourselves. The ancestors model is best imo. Of course it may be impossible to figure exactly what our ancestors actually did, but my best guess is: *not* drinking water all day. They probably had water holes where they drank a lot at but consumed most of their water / hydration through foods. It could be fruit or whatever they were coming across. That’s why I believe bringing a piece of fruit with you and eating it through the day is far superior to water. Bottled water is corporate, so of course it’s been pushed excessively. Idk about ph I think it’s almost a silly topic tbh.

      I also have kidney stones because I live in the deser, so I get easily dehydrated. To relieve the kidney stones, I drink 1 table spoon of apple cider vinegar in my hibiscus tea twice daily. It makes the gut more acidic. The thing is, it really helps with moving everything forward in the entire digestive system. I didn't expect such great results in that level.

    I love your show, but I'm going to have to push back a bit on this one. The reason is that you didn't bring up any actual studies where people drank actual high pH water and no changes were observed in their actual blood. So, in lieu of such evidence, what I hear when I hear you say this isn't how pH works in the body, is that you have a certain model of how pH works in the body and according to that model high pH water should not be able to change the pH of various systems in the body. However, even if you have some reason to be confident in that model, in order to be truly scientific about it you really have to test it under conditions where people are drinking high pH water. Because if that hasn't been tested, then you're just making assumptions based on a model that was validated under conditions that are unrelated to the condition being speculated about. Additionally, my understanding is that this water is actually widely used in hospitals in Japan, and presumably the Japanese are not taken in by pseudoscience enough to implement this type of water in their hospital systems, so they must have had some form of evidence for it. Lastly, part of the logic behind alkalized water particularly with the kangen machine is that it actually contains more oxygen, that's actually how the process of alkalization happens, so you would also need to demonstrate that people aren't receiving the benefits of additional oxygen being added into the system via this water, if you indeed think that that is the case.

    • @Wijewels
      @Wijewels หลายเดือนก่อน

      Water aside... it depends on the type of cancer. Dr. Hyromi Shinya promotes an alkaline diet and Kangen water. Not necessarily due to alkalinity/PH but rather the antioxidizing benefits of the higher level of hydrogen produced. He's a GI who specializes in colorectal cancer and GI issues. Diet is as important as type of water.
      Not everyone can afford a water machine. Simply filtering toxins (with a series of pre-filters) from current drinking water while leaving minerals in tact is better than nothing. At a cost of approx. $150/year, it's a reasonable improvement.
      Many people miss the point of water machines. I love mine (*no, I don't sell them) but my decision to purchase was based on the hydrogen rich water produced (orp of -1140 from mine), and the Pubmed studies surrounding hydrogen rich water, rather than the alkalinity - which is closely related by the body. I do believe, however, that by observing a fairly alkaline diet and consuming high-quality water, my body doesn't have to work as hard to regulate.

Tap water also contains chlorine to prevent bacteria growth, which is also not good for you. The best way to get cheap water is to buy an reverse osmosis filtration system, but the decent ones that actually work can also run in the thousands of dollars.
