wow, didn't expect him to say he wished he practiced more from 12-18. i'm in the exact same predicament, super helpful to hear that from such an accomplished violinist!
as much as I never was a huge fan of his playing, his answers really show that he's a positive thinker and definitely has great focus and understands what he wants in life and the steps it takes to achieve it. I gotta admire that.
I got to see Joshua Bell a year ago as soloist and guest conductor of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, with a great program that included Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. It was a wonderful experience. The thing you can really feel about him is a sense of energy. I'm looking forward to seeing "Joshua Bell: At Home with Music" on PBS today. Apparently he's been using COVID-19 downtime to work on his basketball playing skills with his kids!
Joshua Bell: “I wish I practiced more as a teenager” Also Joshua Bell: *performed Tchaikovsky violin concerto with professional orchestras at age 14 and performed at Carnegie Hall aged 17*
Kudos to his mother for letting her son drive 250 km/h at 19 years old. My mother would have had a heart attack. Maybe 10 years later, that would have been okay.
So, let's assume just for a second it really was a real Strad and you would have asked for help on youtube. I am not often speechless, but in this case i definitely would make an exception. ;)

Love that 'glass of wine' analogy... 🍷
I had the honor of attending one of his concerts when I was in high school and I met him afterwards. He was very kind and a joy to talk with.

What is the piece being played in the background
Might be Schrezo from Beethoven's Violin Sonata No.7?
Stravinsky, Suite Italienne. Drawn from music for Pulcinella.

Roger Andrade Take it to a nearby luthier. Unfortunately, chances are, it will not be a Stradivarius.
