I've met him before, and I have to say, he really IS this down to earth and kind in real life as he is shown here. Also, just my opinion, but this is the best interview so far. Best answers to the questions. And, *cough* he's originally Canadian. So proud. 🇨🇦❤️

He did a masterclass at my university a few years ago, and this girl played a piece where she shifted, and did LH pizz during the shift, and after she was done, he just went "wow, I've...I've never seen that before, good job!" he was so friendly and kind.

What made me fall in love with James is his Bach Solo Sonatas and Partitas. And everything else he plays.
Impeccable playing, clean, technical virtuosity to the highest level. Not much ego, but in total serving to the music.
And then I met him and found that in addition to being insanely talented, he was humble, generous with his time and so so kind to lowly little me. A no one.
I just love the guy to bits.

He seems to be one of the nicest living violinists! I never heard him live yet, but I heard from colleagues, that he is great! After this interview I am sure, that they are right! Down to earth! I love it!

I was very privileged to have a masterclass with him. His approach to everything is super methodical and detailed. He is also one of the nicest people I've met!

I can't explain how happy I am to find out that my favourite virtuoso is also interested in cosmology and space 😭✨

He has given many brilliant performances and made them appear effortless. He is so undervalued as a musician by the wider general public. I'd like to see better marketing of him to make the public more aware of the talent they've yet to discover.

Everything depends on everything else, that is is a very simple yet profound statement. By the way 1976 is the year I finished my university education in Canada. Cheers!
