@@thomasmitchell4155 idk how fast the hammerhead took out one. At the same time being able to put damage on both ships unlike the a2 not being able to put damage above it
A2 is so handicapped vs multiple targets in space, I think the HH could do a lot better. Maybe not, but I think it's almost perfectly armed to match medium, unarmored vessels.
That will totally depend on how the Corsairs are positioned. The HH's 360 coverage could mean very similar outcome as 1vs1 if the corsairs don't pack together in a way, forcing the HH to have same turrets facing both targets.
Yes I think this is a realistic scenario. This is the scenario the Hammerhead was designed to handle and it only makes sense to try this scenario out. I think it would be a good fight, although I think two Corsairs would win ultimately until armor is a thing.
Agreed on the shock factor, after all the Hammerhead is a dedicated fighting ship, it might be primarily against fighters, but unlike the Corsairs it's built like a Brawler. Able to take hits and keep fighting. It's an Anvil Fighting ship, like it's namesake it's built to take hammering. (Reminds me of Grumman Ironworks, great fighters that were tough as nails.) Edit: Yeah just noticed it's an Aegis ship.... ;) Demmit! ;) Drake ships are civilian or pirate ships built to a cost, and are generally not very durable. And while it's only showing a very small profile for most of the fight to keep the weapons in the fight, that also concentrates the fire on one shield and once they punch through on a small area with lots of important things to damage behind it. Whereas most shots on the Hammerhead could not go through the whole ship post penetration if the captain angles for optimum gun performance. Same goes for the A2 fight, not that surprising, it's 2 ships vs. one bomber that has a glaring weakspot in having no top turret. One bomber by it's lonesome against fighters is dead, as one can draw the fire as seen here, while the other lines up a good run. The lack of a dorsal turret on the A2 is particularly baffling, as some WW2 bombers might've lacked a ventral turrent (Lancaster for the most part, B-25.....), but none ever lacked any kind of defense against targets on top, as that's where most fighters would come from. A belly attack is not easy, as you have to judge it right, you go into a vertical zoom climb ahead of the bomber and shoot with lead before he passes. You need to judge the timing right on the climb iniation to get close enough to hit, and then get the lead right, all the while flying the aircraft below the speeds where they are the most stable gun platform. Oh and if you mess it up, you can get into a spin right before the targets gunners. As for most of the shots missing that is not really suprising as well, since most shots in air combat do the same, even with modern Lead Computing Gunsights. Anything WW2 and it get's quite funny. I once got 5 kills in a 109 K-4 (the last major 109 variant with the 30mm MK108 which has 60 rounds), 3 B-25 and 2 Ponies (Mustangs) and that was nearly an ideal use of ammo. As statistically I only needed 12 30mm rounds per aircraft, well, plus some 13mm projectiles but those aren't the heavy hitters. Now each 30mm round on it's own should be able to kill or disable a P-51, but I needed those 12 to get one of them on target. There is a reason besides the much better ballistics I like the MG-151/20 more for anti-fighter work.....I get 150-200 rounds instead of 60. And the 20mm is good enough for anything but heavy bombers and P-47s. Works just fine on P-51 and P-38. F-86F-35 with the first Radar Gunsight? Most are still misses and even with the M61, which is arguably the best air-to-air cannon there is, you generally fire a little bit before he crosses the pipper and a little afterward. Number 1 is to compensate for to little lead compution, and the second is because jets just pass to fast for you to stop shooting before they are past the pipper. So a lot of them still miss, same goes with CIWS against missiles, they spew out a wall of lead in the hopes that the spacing between the rounds is too small for a missile to pass without getting hit.
If AD4B is anything like when i last used them: Good DPS and ammo count, kinda shit in practice compared to most other options due to its lacking accuracy. Still seems to hold true.

Another good ship combat video Kate et all. Interesting match ups that should help the Skunks as well. Try to put both matches in the title maybe next time. I thought this was just one battle. Great vid!
Yes, I want to see more. Pirates performing kidnappings for ransom. Maybe a Corsair and two fighters versus a 890 Jump with two escorts. Maybe launch dragonflies from the Corsair with two people on board and a goal of boarding the moving 890 and stop the ship. Goal is to kidnap a medium ranking Hurston executive as high ranking would have more security. Pirates have to bring pressure suit and helmet for the person to be kidnapped. This might take a little more than I thought. Mantis to prevent the 890 from escaping. Legionnaire would be nice for the boarding party.
Light fighter dog fights are really fun and technical but these battles are just straight up entertaining. The first real PvP battle with the rest of the large and cap size ships is gonna be completely insane. S10 torps and some random idris with a rail gun! Oh man will that be the day. 🎉
Great video. I wonder if going full fixed laser cannons for the pilot would render better results against the Hammerhead? 4xs5 & 2xs4 would pack one hell of a wallop!
The issue is that with the Corsair having primary pilot dps, an equal number of opponents will favor multiple corsair (pilot only) vs any single crewed ship. Currently, nothing else can bring that much dps with just a pilot.
remember: drake ships are supposed to be armored with cardboard and tape. The HH isn't even armored yet. This was not surprising and should have been over way faster once slower speeds are in.
Alright, I have yet to start the video but if the Hammerhead doesn't totally obliterate the Corsair there is something seriously wrong with the Hammerhead. I'll edit this post after I've watched the video. EDIT: Nice to see that a Hammerhead, even with laser repeaters, is not in danger when fighting a Corsair. If the Corsair had managed to destroy a Hammerhead Corvette I'd be pretty upset with CIG's idea of 'balance'.
For missiles, if you hit.. H... I believe, you can arm up to 4 at a time and can spam fire them at a large target for a larger first barage in sequence. I'd love to know the Corsair loadout being used for all these vids. Love the PvP battles! But I feel like the corsair isn't being used to it's 100% yet as it's a new ship. Hope all these vids help keep it from getting nurfed! Dedicated military ships should defeat a pirate ship 1v1 though. PvE this will also smack. Have you guys set your pip convergence distance? I find running fixed I have to adjust it to around 800 to 900m on the corsair for good target hits.
I wonder how different things would be when utilising at least a couple heavy weapons utilizing disruption. those do more to shields and dusrupt subsystems so sustained fire could shut down the ship at least partially. Making it much more vulnerable. especially if the corsair is a part of a pack. Also, when true components and their individual healths come into effect, that will be a factor as well as turrets and engines, etc can be taken out. Especially with a ballistic cannon or two to get early shield penetration to pick off components early in the fight without having to wear shields down first.
It seems to me that the game has a very great potential as an MMO game in terms of clan wars. If CIG still completes the "theater of war" in the near future, then in fact it will become a model of clan warfare. As we know, in any classic MMO there are spheres of influence of clans with their territory and infrastructure, and if one clan goes to challenge the right to the territory of another clan, then it may look like a session battle of battlefield 4 for example and Star Citizen really has all the possibilities to implement such events. I would like to become a casual witness of such a war..))
This is definitely going to be the case when other systems come in AND when land is available to claim and build bases. I was watching a recent video of two orgs doing a 60 aircraft battle with each other. It was awesome to witness.
I never get in close when dealing with hammerheads. If I've got S5s on board, I kite from range and play artillery style and usually manage to take HHs down without taking much fire at all. I'm wondering how practical that approach would be in PvP vs subcaps like the HH and Carrack, who don't have that 2800m max range.
Great videos guys! Suggestion… how does a Corsair vs 600i turn out in space AND atmosphere? Explorer vs explorer… and theeeeeeeeen Corsair vs Carrack, atmo, and space
What is with the full ballistic load outs on everything? In actuality most people run laser cannons or repeaters so I hope these tests are done with those also..
With lasers they cant keep the hype going. As you see those tests are just for fun. In a fair test, the Hammerhead would also have ballistic weapons. But then the Corsair hype will fade away.
Please do corsair vs 890 fully crewed and with maybe 4 Archimedes inside. 2 to fly 2 as back ups for the pilots if they need to respawn and head back out maybe. thank you o7. (seems like a likely target for pirates, could be trying to get a high value target or cargo)
TBH im thankfull that a dedicated Heavy military gunship is capable of defeating an Exploration/pirate ship without much effort. Would be pretty dissapointing if that wasnt the case for a purpose build millitary vessel.
This is an awesome series, I was curious as to what kind of guns are you guys using on the Corsair? Over the 4 day weekend I plan on trying out different loadouts on it
yall should try some fights in atmo, at least interesting ships like a vanguard vs glaive, or something along those lines, doesn't need to be those ships but could also do a reclaimer vs carrack XD or m50 vs razor dogfight for when next patch we know which ship is best to kill the winner if they beat you and btw, 2 Corsair!?!? Too Dangerous!!
What’s funny for those complaining about the Corsier being OP. Well duh it’s gonna be strong. Are players going to complain when the Capital ships come out and here they are attacking with a Arrow. We finally getting to the big guns. Time to get excited.
I'd think that keeping maximum range with the repeaters would be more advantages. Why get so close when the opponent has turrets. Is Emma a problem using the gatlings they only have 16 seconds worth of ammo I thought?
I'm wondering why don't you guys make use of the Size 5 guns distance on the Corsair, it should be the way to fight a HH with just Size 4 guns all around. I would try and stay out of there range and snipe them sort of
easy answer, you will not be able to make DPS if you are busy keeping the hammerhead out of range. Reason thats only about 1000meters difference. Hammerhead will be in seconds in fire range.
@@Citizen_Kate Cool, thanks for the reply! That said, I'd love to see some combat without a crew. I honestly think it will be very rare for people to run a Corsair fully staffed anyways (unless we get NPC crews) I'm just saying 4 Corsairs is obviously stronger than 4 on a Corsair.
The Aquila is designed for a three person minimum crew. Meaning that once full functionality is added to the game you'll likely have to run between stations to get things done. The Corsair is designed to be operated solo from the cockpit. That said, I have a feeling that the Constellation series may be updated for solo operation... *Maybe.*
Corsair. Aquila is more expensive and has less fire power. Also it's slower. It has a bit more Cargo, the Snub fighter and more HP though. But you can also take a look at the 400i. Also a explorer but much faster than Corsair or Aquila. but less Cargo and firepower.
Same projectile speed and obviously slower fire rate, but yes, damn powerful when the cannons hit with their 1500 alpha. But against a HH you still have to go completely through the shields before you do any damage to the ship. That is 55,000 hp per shield face to melt before you get into the 300,000 HP of the hull.
alot of this is moot with the current shield holes that exist when mvoing., basically while moving the model sometimes leaves the shield bubble in the current build.
I'd really like to see these videos redone once 3.18 has landed with soft death mechanics. I'm expecting to see a lot of "oops I hit it too hard and it blew up for real" from corsair pilots from the absolute hail of lead that comes out of these things. It would make corsairs not that great as pirate ships if you keep on denying yourself cargo.
How about Corsair vs Redeemer? Corsair has more DPS, but Redeemer has stronger shields and way more DPS in turrets. Also, both take 4 men to crew fully.
The Corsair is being treated like the redeemer when it should be compared to the Mercury Star Runner. It’s not a combat ship it’s meant for little bit of everything. It’s great at PVE. Great at exploring Stanton. Great for storing vehicles or cargo. Stop making the Corsair something it’s not. Would you take a mercury star runner into combat?
that hercules should have been in vtol mode. it should have danced circles around you and won due to its mobility. it doesnt make any sense. none of these pilots bother locking and focus firing on certain parts of the corsair
Pirates, by nature, prefer to go against easy prey. Basically I imagine they'd skip the ship that's being escorted and go for the ship that got greedy and tried his/her luck at taking a shortcut to bag even more credits on the cheaper fuel route. So a Corsair would thrive against solo merchant ships easily if they're solo themselves, and they'd be especially destructive in a pack.
Don't think the Corsair is a good pirate ship. Just to slow. Even a Hercules is faster. And a enemy HH or Redeemer can hunt a Corsair. Just add a Manits to this and the Corsair is screwed. And for the fight of two Corsairs vs 1 A2. Next time give the A2 repeaters and let him run away. The Corsairs can try to follow but will getting hit by the turrets while the A2 can enlarge the distance and be safe from returning fire.
Why are you guys using ballistic size 5, its stupid, I would use the corsairs powerful thrusters to range control the hammerhead instead of going into its fire
Request: A Stock Loadout fight with gimbals and cannons - this is a more accurate respresentation of how it performs. Also FIXED puts yuou at a disadvantage as you struggle to keep on target in turn fight. please drop the fixed ballistics
I actually agree. Fixed weapons are typically the meta with fighters since they can keep nose on target easily, but for a ship like the Corsair, I think gimbals would actually prove to be more effective. I am currently working on getting a Corsair and I plan on running it with gimbals.
@@ragnarbaron6090 Depends on what you define as combat. This game isn't 100% PvP all the time. And the stock laser cannons on the corsair perform just fine. I'd rather have gimballed laser cannons on my Corsair if I get jumped by a fighter than fixed gats--at least I'd have a chance against the fighter. And I'm just talking stock weapons. I would never run it with stock shields and coolers unless they come with BIS components, which I doubt.
@@LordAnubis85 you would have more chance of doing a full reverse and decoupling with fixed , you only need to line up perfectly once on a fighter with a size 5 setup.
Pls redo all Corsair vids with gimbled weapons. The Corsair isn't really maneuverable enough to use anything other than gimbles. Should go back and relook these engagements to see how may time your weapons were missing.

I think that video really should have been Corsairs versus a C2 or Cat if you wanted to simulate piracy. They would rarely attack a military spec ship. Much as I like the Corsair, I don't think it is worth making a video of the Corsair fighting in atmosphere as it handles worse than a Cat ;-)

Recently come back to SC after a bit of a break due to RL - this has great to tune back into to some of the best content going around - love the Corsair series so far
Legionnaire would be nice for the boarding party.
absolutely lovely video, the A2 fight looked like something from the expanse
As much as I'm enjoying the Corsair fights, I'd like to see some more single crew ships battle it out for those of us who can't often get a full crew
It seems this is Corsair Month for this channel. Understandable.
remember: drake ships are supposed to be armored with cardboard and tape.
A matchup I would like to see is a Redeemer vs a Hammerhead.
Indeed. While the Hammerhead has more guns, the Redeemer has _bigger_ guns. And is smaller and a little faster.
I always assumed the Hammerheads missile racks were bespoke, knowing you can switch them for 8x Size 5 Torps is awesome :)
Really enjoyable video. 2 v 2 Corsair with one side using a paintjob for easy identification. Keep 'em coming. :)
Hit G to increase Missile Count Arming in missile mode. Flares count can also be increased with Right Alt+Tap H (left alt + H to decrease)
again EPIC, and again... where did you find those turret gunners xD not using gyro and swinging around the target...
Just found your channel if im being honest best star citizen channel in my opinion you got good commentary
Great video!! I just had a thought ... if the hammerhead resembles a hammerhead shark, the corsair resembles a barracuda...
Uuuuweeeee now this video gonna be a treat to me !!!!
Liked and subbed - great series - keep them coming!
VTOL would be an advantage for the A2, it keeps the ship moving relatively upwards and your enemy underneath/in range of the guns. In space or atmo.
Absolutely loving these videos, quick question what corsair turrets can aim forward to provide dps support to the target the pilot is focusing?
I never get in close when dealing with hammerheads. If I've got S5s on board, I kite from range and play artillery style and usually manage to take HHs down without taking much fire at all. I'm wondering how practical that approach would be in PvP vs subcaps like the HH and Carrack, who don't have that 2800m max range.
CG seems to have done a good job here: the military specific ships (Hammerhead, Redeemer) can handle the Corsair no problem.
It looks pretty
With lasers they cant keep the hype going. As you see those tests are just for fun. In a fair test, the Hammerhead would also have ballistic weapons. But then the Corsair hype will fade away.
you have a much more cynical outlook than me that's for sure :D
These are fun hope you keep doing them.
For the overall package with your new series would you rather live and work on the Mercury Star Runner or the Corsair?
Please do corsair vs 890 fully crewed and with maybe 4 Archimedes inside. 2 to fly 2 as back ups for the pilots if they need to respawn and head back out maybe. thank you o7. (seems like a likely target for pirates, could be trying to get a high value target or cargo)
Ihave the M2, however we cannot use ther remote turrets. I`m unsure if is a bug or we dont know how to operate them. Any tip?
TBH im thankfull that a dedicated Heavy military gunship is capable of defeating an Exploration/pirate ship without much effort. Would be pretty dissapointing if that wasnt the case for a purpose build millitary vessel.
This is an awesome series, I was curious as to what kind of guns are you guys using on the Corsair? Over the 4 day weekend I plan on trying out different loadouts on it
The Corsair's were running 4x AD5B's and 2xAD4B's on the wing. The turrets kept their stock size 2 laser repeaters, and we ran 32 TF1 missiles.
@@marqushio2752 I'm def going to check that out over the weekend, thank you
Fully crewed retaliator bomber; no holds barred. Try to sink with torpedos before the corsair can close distance.
I feel like gatlings are wrong for the corsair if it cant aim. Maybe cannons instead? Make the shots that hit hurt more.
A lot of haulers dont bother with escorts so the weakness to fighters isn't that huge of a concern.
You know what the Corsair can fit that the Hammerhead can't? M7A laser cannons...
You should try putting the Corsair against multiple fighters and see how well it does
yall should try some fights in atmo, at least interesting ships like a vanguard vs glaive, or something along those lines, doesn't need to be those ships but could also do a reclaimer vs carrack XD or m50 vs razor dogfight for when next patch we know which ship is best to kill the winner if they beat you
and btw, 2 Corsair!?!?
How staffed were the Corsair's vs the Hercules? Just two pilots?
there were 4 on each corsair and 7 on the a2 :)
@@Citizen_Kate Cool, thanks for the reply!
That said, I'd love to see some combat without a crew. I honestly think it will be very rare for people to run a Corsair fully staffed anyways (unless we get NPC crews)
I'm just saying 4 Corsairs is obviously stronger than 4 on a Corsair.
here is a suggestion: hammerhead vs swarm of dragonflies
So for a solo player explorer what ship would be better, corsair or aquila? I mean having fun exploring but able to defend also.
Also a explorer but much faster than Corsair or Aquila. but less Cargo and firepower.
i love how the AD5B look but try m7a cannons.
@@Power5 its doable, on my corsair I run a mix of both on the S5 hardpoints
Tournament for best 3 crew ship vs 3 crew ship? I mainly want to see Connie vs MSR.
MSR doesn't have the firepower for that kindoff thing , It's a dream to fly and fast as a heavy fighter but it's not got the guns for fighting.
You need someone with better performance flying the Corsair. Would make getting nose on target far easier with more than 20 fps.
very good fights, but this was very expected result. Corsair does do a good job.. but i expect it to be wrecked by a hammerhead
alot of this is moot with the current shield holes that exist when mvoing., basically while moving the model sometimes leaves the shield bubble in the current build.
This is inspirational - do you guys do training courses? 🤔😃
Yes
Corsair vs msr please !!!! Lol Great video as always
Enjoyed the connie and corsair….shame thing is a merlin can fit in a cosair…..you should try connie and corsair with each undocking a merlin…
Corsair Vs MSR :P with one or two persons crewing ;)
How about Corsair vs Redeemer? Corsair has more DPS, but Redeemer has stronger shields and way more DPS in turrets. Also, both take 4 men to crew fully.
This was done I believe by them already.
There is another video against the corsair that went up yesterday
See our previous video...
this is so awesome!!
I love the ground pvp
Fully crewed Mole vs Fully crewed Raft
Fully Crewed Corsair vs Fully crewed Retaliator
are those smoke trails in space?
I mean the thrusters produce emissions just like here on earth....
It's a game dude, not a SIM 😁
Look at all the explosions in space in SC 😄
@@NotUnymous if you’re talking about ship explosions it makes sense. Just because they are in space doesn’t mean they can’t explode.
Ballistics are the worst possible guns you could have equipped
that hercules should have been in vtol mode. it should have danced circles around you and won due to its mobility. it doesnt make any sense. none of these pilots bother locking and focus firing on certain parts of the corsair
I'd relish fighting a corsair witha harbi then if small torps work so well
The Hammerhead should beat Corsair, the Corsair is an exploration ship and the Hammerhead is a warship.
It's a drake exploration ship..
Only exploring it will do is in your cargo hold.
Lol not surprised on the turnout Corsair is still only a 250 dollar ship
Pirates, by nature, prefer to go against easy prey. Basically I imagine they'd skip the ship that's being escorted and go for the ship that got greedy and tried his/her luck at taking a shortcut to bag even more credits on the cheaper fuel route. So a Corsair would thrive against solo merchant ships easily if they're solo themselves, and they'd be especially destructive in a pack.
Cool 😎
Corsair vs 10 Pisces. lol
The pew pew is strong in this one ^^
#first
Why are you guys using ballistic size 5, its stupid, I would use the corsairs powerful thrusters to range control the hammerhead instead of going into its fire
I wonder how differently this would go if anyone could actually hit their shots? Lol
i'm sure you could do much better
@@Citizen_Kate 🤷♂️ great content btw, y'all are very entertaining!
Corsair vs carrack!!!!!❤❤❤
Corsair vs 600i please.
do 2 corsair VS the hammerhead.
Nobody is taking a stock Corsair into combat though, at least anyone with a brain
@@ragnarbaron6090 good luck with that.
Should go back and relook these engagements to see how may time your weapons were missing.
only thing thats been bugging me about these videos is no one in the corsairs can shoot
i nearly never miss my targets in my corsair so either im realy good or these guys suck :(
kinda concerning
oh damn dude didnt mean to concern you - no i promise it's just you are much better than us. nothing to worry about it's only a game
@@Citizen_Kate i meant its concering as in these guys are surposed to be top of the range PVP pilots and crew but cant aim XD
love the vids either way
oh no lol these are not our top tier pilots or anyything - most of the peoepl invovled in this are Racoons (ground troops) becasue this wasn't like an official training or anytihng we just roped in whoever was avilable and willing :D
Maybe, but I would still find it interesting tho, to see just how exactly it would go. :-)
Over confident pirates would attack a military ship patrolling the pirate's claimed territory.
