Edit: I'm adding here my thoughts on the response I get the most wich basically is "yea but Asians are very underrepresented in the American industry, let Asians have kpop" So here it is: Yup, systemic racism is white ppl fault of course but once again, you can't fix a wrong with another wrong. It's not by gatekeeping the Korean industry that you're going to fix American systemic racism. And I'm going to repeat myself again but, Asian musicians in the west, even if they're underrepresented, aren't literally bullied out of their dreams and see all of their work discredited by false rumors because they are Asian. They aren't immediately hated and overly scrutinized by the public, just because they're Asian. However, white idols in the kpop industry, yes they are. And once again? Why do Americans think they are the center of the world? At the end, kpop is not representations of Asian in the US music industry but representation of an industry that's from Asia . And yes that makes a difference. Because it's a whole ass different country that's represented and not just a race. Saying "white idols don't belong in kpop because kpop is from a country of majoritarely Asian ppl" is just as dumb and bigoted as saying "Asian musicians don't Belong in the western market because the wester market is from a country of majoritarely white people" Yes Asian underrepresentation is a real problem in the US music industry but it is not a reason to discredit a whole ass person their dreams just because they are white. People seem to forget sometimes that we aren't just a race but whole ass humans
@Katlyn of course this is something that has to be taken into consideration. But do the the white idols, training and living in Korea, heck, could even be born in Korea have something to do with the US. Do Koreans themselves even care about this. The answer is no :') Americans think their problems are the center of the world geez
@Katlyn but in a less aggressive way, yes. This is a real problem. Yes, white people are over represented in the American music market but 1)the American music market issues have nothing to do with the Korean ones 2)this only seems to be a problem for American fans 3) white idols aren't responsible for the injustices of systemic racism and worked just as hard as any others. And bullying them, creating false rumors about them and hating on them won't solve the problem and its just blatant discrimination
I think a great video to react to is SB19's recent performances for Philkor Fest 2020. I think it really shows what it is their trying to go for and really introduce themselves as PPOP.
nobody is talking about yukika! she is a japanese kpop solo artist. she has only really done citypop (an 80s japanese genre) songs except for a couple songs on her album. she is not korean but her pronunciation is amazing. her dance isnt amazing but she is trying suuuper hard. she was on mixnine and was in the real girls project. she is such an original artist and its so fresh to see such an unique style being fully brought to kpop.
okay but i love ZPOP groups a lot. they are actually really good! also PRISMA,, i've been following them since they were announced as trainees and they're respectful too. Also, Lana. Also, BLACKSWAN's song is a BOP???? SO LIKE WT Where's the first win??
@@laurenj6802 Uh i didn't say a song needs a win to be a bop. Since winning 1st place in music shows is a big thing, i think they would be happy too if they won. That would also mean their Korean fanbase is growing if they win; because most shows have 1500 points for live voting

I never thought that SB19 (I'm an A'TIN a.k.a sb19 fan name) would be in one of jhonny's vids. Honestly I met sb19(sadly not in real life but in mvs) in 2018 because I saw their Go Up and I was so amazed but didn't became a fan until their mv "ALAB" came out I became an instant fan. Hi from the Philippines.
Guys I don't think there is a problem with non Asians as long as they know how to speak Korean, have talent, respect the culture, and train cause idols train hard for years, so I don't think they deserve hate, and I have noticed many of you have been hating on non Asians saying "she shouldnt be here, kpop is only for Asians" while some of them where basically Asians, I just want to guys show you the countries in Asia, so if you someday see some idols from these countries, don't hate cause they are Asian too. Some of yal dont even know about the countries in Asia cause some of yal think that only east and southeast Asia are only Asian, and yal forget about the middle east (west Asia) and South Asia so here. Here : Western Asia : Armenia Azerbaijan Bahrain Cyprus Georgia Iran Iraq Israel Jordan Kuwait Lebanon Oman Qatar Saudi Arabia State of Palestine Turkey United Arab Emirates Yemen Central Asia : Afghanistan Kazakhstan Tajikistan Turkmenistan Uzbekistan East Asia : China China Hong Kong SAR China, Macao SAR Japan Korea (North) Korea ( South) Mongolia Taiwan South Asia : Bangladesh Bhutan India Maldives Maldives Nepal Pakistan Sri Lanka Southeast Asia : Brunei Darussalam Cambodia Indonesia Lao PDR Malaysia Myanmar (Burma) Singapore Thailand Timor-Leste (East Timor) Vietnam North Asia : Russia So guys, Asia is big so for God's sake not all people in Asia have east asian appearance, for example like west Asia / Middle Eastern Asia, or south Asia, so you guys don't forget that South asia, and the middle east / west Asia, and Central Asia are also countries in Asia, and if your country is listed here, then your Asian.

I feel like the thing with "kpop inspired groups" or "non korean kpop" it's bc kpop rn it's everywhere, they're taking over the merchant of the whole music industry, and I feel like companies think that using the concepts, using korean language and all will assure them success in the industry, but to me and lot of other people, these groups are nothing more than jokes, and will never be kpop no matter what, we know how hard and competitive it's the industry in Asia, so as long as you don't train, don't debut or work there it won't be kpop, idk why they try so hard to say "first (insert any country outside Korea) kpop group" and etc, like yes, you can take the concepts, but don't take the language, you're just making all your work be considered as a joke and it won't be take seriously for a good amount of people. With non-asian kpop idols I don't see any problem as long as they debut there or work under the kpop industry, but if there's not then the same situation happens, so in my opinion, don't try so hard to copy all of that or be kpop, you can take the concept and do a lot of more styles with that, but don't call yourself a kpop idol for your work's sake. But this is just my opinion between a lot of anothers, and don't bother to come for me, I won't change my mind. Nice day~
I need to agree with you about Prisma. I love the girls and I was very excited for their debut, but I'm also a little disappointed. The sound is weird, like they was recording this on the phone
The only inspired kpop here was zgirls..i think we basically can call other as kpop artist since they have korean members and singing in korean too..zpop debut in korea but the genre was apart from kpop and targetted international audience(mainly from sea country)...i never saw zgirls on korean music show since they arent kpop and not even singing in that langguage

Saying "white idols don't belong in kpop because kpop is from a country of majoritarely Asian ppl" is just as dumb and bigoted as saying "Asian musicians don't Belong in the western market because the wester market is from a country of majoritarely white people"
Yes Asian underrepresentation is a real problem in the US music industry but it is not a reason to discredit a whole ass person their dreams just because they are white. People seem to forget sometimes that we aren't just a race but whole ass humans
Thank you for wording this so well, that's exactly how I think about this whole thing as well.
YES SOMEONE SAID IT
@Katlyn of course this is something that has to be taken into consideration.
But do the the white idols, training and living in Korea, heck, could even be born in Korea have something to do with the US. Do Koreans themselves even care about this.
The answer is no :')
Americans think their problems are the center of the world geez
@Katlyn but in a less aggressive way, yes. This is a real problem. Yes, white people are over represented in the American music market but
1)the American music market issues have nothing to do with the Korean ones
2)this only seems to be a problem for American fans
3) white idols aren't responsible for the injustices of systemic racism and worked just as hard as any others. And bullying them, creating false rumors about them and hating on them won't solve the problem and its just blatant discrimination

Yessssssssjsjsjssj
I like how SB19 sings in their language and not trying to be full on kpop by singing in Korean.
I love SB19 they fit well in their concept and I think singing in their language instead of korean keeps them from sounding awkward
basically they are p-pop so there is no way they're going to sing/add korean in their song
Yesterday I was thinking "I would like to hear Johnny singing a lana song" so when I heard you singing take the wheel I was like USUDJSBSZJ

@pessimissimo i'm listening to sb19 rn
@pessimissimo haha omg. Haven't seen it yet. Now I'm listening to chanmina, my queen
as an Indian, I did not take any offense to the 5 High video. still, thank you for being respectful and clarifying
That girl in ZGirls that you specifically watched is Carlyn. She is a Filipina. 💙
I know i love her sm 😭
okay but i love ZPOP groups a lot. they are actually really good! also PRISMA,, i've been following them since they were announced as trainees and they're respectful too. Also, Lana. Yes, Lana is actually good and talented plus she's already learnt korean, i really liked her second song Make it real (ofc tho her first song.. her company did her wrong,, the MV sounds and all) but yeah she has a lot of potential. Also, BLACKSWAN's song is a BOP???? SO LIKE WT Where's the first win??
You don't need a win for it to be bop. You either like the song or not and if you like it it's a bop if you don't then it's not a bop to you.
@@laurenj6802 Uh i didn't say a song needs a win to be a bop.
Since winning 1st place in music shows is a big thing, i think they would be happy too if they won. That would also mean their Korean fanbase is growing if they win; because most shows have 1500 points for live voting
Lana also knows Chinese and have made a Chinese single ...she is soo talented ,in the Chinese show produce camp 2020 but her company's music production team just does her dirty ,lana is kinda popular in china
@@lunabtxt I'm sorry, maybe I'm just confused with your first comment. You said, "Blackswan's song is a BOP?? So like what, where's the first win?" Which to me comes off as you saying that if it's a bop then it would win first place and because it didn't then it's not a bop. If that's not what you meant then can you explain. Because I'm not really understanding if there was like sarcasm or some tone through the words? I'm just confused girl?
@@GGGG-dd8xd she is, in China because of produce camp
Prisma's song isn't actually the final result, that's why it sounds unfinish (I don't know if you know that or said that but, yeah)

Omgg I'm actually super happy you're talking about this topic. Also you are finally doing your much awaited zpop reaction 🥳
I mean i think it genuinely depends on what the kpop groups do. I mean if they have the training experience: like idols did. then they would have the potential, but if they didn’t, they lack on important abilities and need the training to understand what they have to do.
Z-Girls and Z-Boys are really amazing. They are now under Divtone entertainment (Singapore company) and Zenith Media content (Korean company) discontinued in February 2020. Zenith Media content was sub label of Divtone entertainment. Filipino here. SB19 is a P-pop group (which does derive a lot of K-pop elements) and they market themselves this way. It just makes me happy that people stan them for their talent (vocals particularly) and great dance skills. Please watch UHSN, they are a group of foreign girls formed for a program in Korean TV. But they aren't actually an Official Group, they were just formed like Refund Sisters.
i like these groups they have potential its just the editing and the vocal editing is not ok for some of the groups in this video (no hate) but the are a really good groups i believe as the progress they will have even better music then what they have with vocal training
Hi from the Philippines.
you know you're early when five people in the comment section said they're first
Thanks a lot Jonny for talking about zpop I am ur new subscriber now
Guys I don't think there is a problem with non Asians as long as they know how to speak Korean, have talent, respect the culture, and train cause idols train hard for years, so I don't think they deserve hate, and I have noticed many of you have been hating on non Asians saying "she shouldnt be here, kpop is only for Asians" while some of them where basically Asians, I just want to guys show you the countries in Asia, so if you someday see some idols from these countries, don't hate cause they are Asian too. Some of yal dont even know about the countries in Asia cause some of yal think that only east and southeast Asia are only Asian, and yal forget about the middle east (west Asia) and South Asia so here.

So guys, Asia is big so for God's sake not all people in Asia have east asian appearance, for example like west Asia / Middle Eastern Asia, or south Asia, so you guys don't forget that South asia, and the middle east / west Asia, and Central Asia are also countries in Asia, and if your country is listed here, then your Asian.
I have nothing to say, you're too kind, the way you phrase things is amazing.

my my my! I'm waiting for Photo Magic 😭
Nice day~
honestly i just love Johnny , hes legit one of my fav youtubers to watch

I need to agree with you about Prisma. I love the girls and I was very excited for their debut, but I'm also a little disappointed. The sound is weird, like they was recording this on the phone
The only inspired kpop here was zgirls..i think we basically can call other as kpop artist since they have korean members and singing in korean too..zpop debut in korea but the genre was apart from kpop and targetted international audience(mainly from sea country)...i never saw zgirls on korean music show since they arent kpop and not even singing in that langguage
