This is my review for words bubble up like soda pop. The film Words bubble up like soda pop follows the story of two teenagers, Yui (Cherry) and Yuki (Smile) and the summer they spend together, which teaches them valuable lessons about who they are.

I like your take on it. I personally wasn’t into it, there were a couple of empty moments in the film that made it hard for me to stay interested. It’s definitely a slower film. The animation and art style was pretty well done (especially in the chase scene), but also felt lacking in certain areas. So it’s a 6/10 for me. Also, the trailer/teaser I saw for it was a bit misleading in my opinion. I really thought the two were gonna accidentally grab each other’s phone and be separated for a bit. Like on that exact same day the got each other’s phone, they were gonna catch a flight far away before they realized it. But they continue to text and develop a relationship or something XD
I don't think predictability is an issue xD well at least not for me. All the scenes that you mentioned are designed that way, it is super intentional, this is not like a mystery thriller or something... Also the pacing is super fast, you get a kiss scene in less than an hour and a half, compare that to a series where you watch twelve 24min eps for the main couple to maybe hold hands. This is just how slice of life anime is, and this one managed to be way deeper than it had any right to xD

Fully agree on the beginning chase being a bit much. I almost turned it off, but once it slowed down I was fully checked in.

Noooo this movie had HIGH potential but sadly it fell out for me.
I have a complain overall in the anime movie industry on why they do this but yeah
The first half of the movie was so cute and just 100% positive vibes and it was heading to a good pacing of the two main characters like when they mix the phones I thought omg let go from here. They will meet more and start to know more about each other keeping the cute positive vibe BUT NOPE! After that it’s drop and focus on the record. The second half was honestly boring and going nowhere. Since it’s a movie I was in the 40 min mark and I knew now there no time for them to have moments and I knew where it was headed just another mellow drama or bland plot. Nooooooo why couldn’t they just go on a date or hangout more and help each other flaws that aren’t flaws if they knew. It couldn’t went so many directions but nooooo. At least there was no triangle love or BS flags where 90% there is. Also the moving part why …why… that was BS actually cuz it didn’t have to. WHY CANT WE JUST HAVE A HAPPY VIBE MOVIE START TO FINISH. I love the art style and the characters but they didn’t do anything with them beside music guy and smile girl looking for the record and yeah. Okay ending but it should’ve continued after the phone incident. This is my 2nd anime movie and it just like the can’t hear girl and bully guy ughhh …so sad the beginning was hitting a high for me cuz it was doing it so different
