I've had mine for 9 years, done 8.3K Km on it and I cannot find a better bike to replace it. Best bike I've ever had and will probably keep it till I cannot ride anymore.
Bought the 90th anniversary model in 2013. Now done 106,000kms & can’t fault it. Been all over Australia, never missed a beat. Have considered a new model but don’t think the $30k changeover would give me that much of a better bike.
I've got one of these and you've summed it up pretty well. With the Akro exhaust it sheds some weight and, even coming from a ZX12R, this bike is surprisingly light and torquey. Very responsive, stonking brakes, quick enough when you need it. I blew away a guy on a Buell 1200 recently, he wasn't happy!
I have that motorcycle, i sold it and be lucky enough to buy it again. I sill never sell its a beautiful swiss knife. Amazing engine for the road it give smile for hours. I can ride 5-6 hours straigh on small country road before feeling tired. I ill add full whilbers as i have 87000km on a 2014 model. Same color and model that on that video. I did have a racetrack video with it. I have all options except electronics.
So if your in the market for an all rounder, easy going bike that is fully loaded with electronics, put the R1200R on your list. You're* You're welcome
Looked at 1 in Ballarat VIC not long ago it's going for 6750 dollars what im worried about is it's done 53000kms and 3 owners is this very common when it comes to bike's like these iv currently got an 06 FJR Yamaha 1300 one owner with 165kms on the clock ⏰ without any issues I'm keeping her im just wondering if there are any issues with the BMW 1200R that id need to lookout for
I bought the 2014 model. 6 years later, it still runs like a charm. The motorcycle is very reliable and beautiful. I haven't changed the exhaust yet but I wanna try akrapovic but BMW dealership shop here gave me a quote for $1000 USD so I am thinking of buying it on eBay and doing it myself. Anyone did it already and can tell me the pros and cons? Thank you
Johnny D I have the DarkWhite 2014 as per the one in this review and switched out the exhaust for SC Project exhaust in carbon. Would have gone for Akrapovic but didn’t like the style of the version for this bike. Ride safe 👍
@@Langersport awesome. It's almost $300 less than akrapovic. I might give it a try. How's the sound? My stock pipes are too silent and that's what I used to like. But I think I might be safer on a more louder pipe so that my presence is known to other drivers. If you have any video of your pipes, please share the link. Thank you!

Bought a new Classic version in Mar 2014, love it to bits. Sheer pleasure to ride.
How much do one of these bikes usually cost?
Ivan Boo In the UK, about GBP 11,000 (though you can't get them now, as the new model comes out next year)
Evil Len Thanks bro, these BMW bikes look very nice

What the city mpg?
Riding position looks a bit cramped.
Joe Morrison I’m 6’ 2” and no complaints - I have the same bike as this review.
