I had my drill test today at my basics for army, I received my cap badge. We had a similar ceremony to this, builds a sense of pride and achievement when you receive your cap badge , after which you can parade with your unit.

Hey Prairie! Just wanted to thank you for continuing these informative videos! I really appreciate it and I bet a whole lot of other people do to. You're awesome!

Love it so informative. Wish Mod 3 had an option further west than QC :) Curious what is the failure rate approximately for MOD 3? (not including medical issues) Thanks for doing this PO!

Failure rate is low. Medical exit is more likely than a training failure - make sure you get in shape before you leave to help prevent injury, and be careful while you're training. Nobody wants to repeat BM(O)Q.

Hey Prairie Sailor! Thanks for the info.
Have a question more pertaining to mod 3. Is module 3 only available on a full time basis?
    Thanks!

Do all navy soldiers get to wear the berets or is is strictly reserve to Reserve Unit ? Why do some Soliders wear beret, other cival caps and some others the Peaked cap ? Thank you for your informative videos.

There are different headdress for different orders of dress. The beret or the unit ball cap can be worn with Naval Environmental Combat Uniform. All Navy sailors can wear berets. The chain of command will normally state and order of dress so everyone is wearing the same thing for parade and drill.

Oh okay, the Black Beret is very underrated, we don't see it quite often and rarely is it showcase in parades, sadly. Thank you for your reply.@@PrairieSailor

Hey Prairie Sailor! Thank you for all the informative information you put out there that is difficult to find anywhere else. I just had a question though. Joining the navy reserves, particularly as a naval communicator or similar positions, how likely would it be to get called? I know that you have the option for volunteering for deployment and you can choose or not to; however, is there any chance the National Defence Act can take effect? Thank you!

I cannot comment on the likelihood of that happening, but here is a Wikipedia reference on the history: "In case of a severe national emergency, an Order in Council may be signed by the Governor General of Canada acting under the advice of the federal cabinet to call reserve members of the Canadian Forces into active service. Members of the reserve have not been called to involuntary active service in foreign operations since the Second World War." en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primary_Reserve

As Prairie Sailor said, reservists have not been called upon involuntarily since the Second World War. Keeping that in mind as well, the vast majority were only conscripted for "home defense " meaning they stayed in Canada. Prime Minister King did eventually call a few thousand reservists over seas near the end of the war however, only about half to two thirds of that group that was called actually made it over seas before Germany surrendered. By the end of the war something like 95% to 99% of Canadians that had served over seas were volunteers. Which was vastly different to the Americans who I think roughly a third to half were conscripts. Canada also has an all volunteer force serve in Korea as well, when Britain and America sent a large portion of conscripted troops. So Canada has a history of avoiding conscription unless it is an absolute last resort. To quote Prime Minister King "conscription if necessary, but not necessarily conscription."

Hi sr, I'm moving to Toronto as a permanent resident. Do I need a proficiency test such as IEITS or TOEFL to join the Royal military College?

I am not familiar with those tests. RMC admission requirements can be found here: www.rmc-cmr.ca/en/registrars-office/admissions

i find the prospect of joining the navy very interesting, alot of my ancestors served in the military and i often feel as if they are watching me. i just wish it wasnt focused on such things as wokeness, dei, vaccines and focused more on the traditions and ideals of the great canadians who served before these......strange times.
