#fridaythe13th #moviereaction #firstwatch
It's always amusing to see people watch this for the first time expecting Jason and the hockey mask. I don't think anyone making this expected it to go beyond this single film -- certainly not become a 12-movie franchise. So this was just a slasher movie about a mother who lost it after her son died. The whole lore developed because the movies were successful and they got to make more of them.
It was not supposed to it was written as a stand alone movie from the start. That is confirmed on the audio commentary an other bonus features on the 40th anniversary Edition of Friday the 13th. Sean s Cunningham told the movie studio when they asked him to work on Friday the 13th part 2. That the end was just one last jump-scare only it was all in her head. Jason was never in the lake he was never in the movie. He told them that Jason Voorhees was written as a dead character from the start. To serve as motivation only for his mother to go insane and start killing people only. He was never alive to begin with so how am I supposed to bring back someone who was never alive to begin with. So he turned down working on part 2.
Tom Savini told the movie studio that Jason Voorhees was never alive to. Begin with he was never in the movie he was never in the lake at the end. It was one last jump-scare only so having Jason suddenly be alive an a adult and the killer in part 2. Is a stupid idea an it makes no sense so he turned down working on part 2. He worked on the movie The Burning instead.
It's a simple one movie story beginning, middle an end. The beginning Jason Voorhees officially an permanently died in 1957. That caused his mother to go insane and start killing people the middle. Then she gets her head cut off end of story no sequel needed or to be had.
But the movie studio didn't care about the facts. So they hired new people an redconed or erased Jasons permanent an officel cannon death. From the first movie in Friday the 13th part 2 to make a copy cat version of Michael Myers.
Think about it one description they wear something white on their head/face. Then they go around killing people that's Michael Myers who came first and Jason Voorhees. The only difference is when an where they kill people.
Movie studios definitely don’t care about facts! That’s for sure. Laughter
right I was waiting for jason the whole time haha
@@somewhereinoctober well it was his mother and Mrs. Voorhees who was the killer Jason doesn’t show up until the sequel and for anyone in the comment you can guess that reference from which movie was it please let me know?

This is not a series that was planned out. They made it up as they went along. This is how movies were made at the time. Jason doesn't start out the way pop culture currently displays him. These movies "may" even contradict each other. Time lines are very flexy.
There is no may about it the movies do contradict each other. Because the movie studio didn't care about movie continuity. They only cared that Jason was going around killing people every thing else didn't matter.
Seriously New Line Cinema actually cared about. Keep movie continuity in the Nightmare on Elm Street movie franchise. It's not hard to do you just tell the writers an directors see what happened in the previous movies. You don't change anything an you add to that.
May? 🙈😂
This is how movies are made now...
@@83shadow3 timeline didn't make sense in noes 6 and random new movie law about his kid
There's no major difference between how movie sequels were made back then and now as a general rule. There were sequels that were written and planned out and sometimes even filmed almost immediately after the first movie back in the 1970s and 80s. There are also series that are just made up along the way NOW. It just depends on what you're specifically talking about.
One thing to remember about the Kevin Bacon death. The killer was under the bed the entire time they he was canoodling with his girl. Really upsetting.
I didn't even think about that... and Ned on the top bunk. Gross
It’s a bit less upsetting than if it was Jason under the bed.
that killer must've a strong back and butt staying under that bed god knows how long to make that kill...
And the idea of making love underneath a dead body is creepy too
A true classic love 80s horror
oh i was chuckling so much when i realized you didn't know who the killer was
right - I know so much lore about Jason yet I was still fooled
The first movie really has some shocks. Some unexpected shocks.
@@somewhereinoctober yeah Jason is such a great killer. I cannot until you watch all of the movie franchises from this franchise and then after that you can watch other horror franchises if you want me to recommend them I would highly tell you if you want me to
Just keep watching. No spoilers from anyone please. If you're going to watch horror films, I'll definitely watch all your reactions. If you want any suggestions besides the big three, Friday, Nightmare or Halloween let me know. I grew up watching all the great '80s horror.
I'd love some suggestions! I have a huge list going :)
So many questions! LOL I'm glad you're interested, and I hope you will continue with the "Friday the 13th" series.
If we go back to 1980 when the film was released, movie sequels were not that common. Horror movies always tried to leave the audience with one last scare and a creepy ending so that when you were coming home from the theater, you were looking over your shoulder, but rarely did they actually do a direct follow-up film (the Universal monster movies notwithstanding).
"Halloween" (1978) was a huge box-office success, and "Friday the 13th" producer/director Sean Cunningham openly admits that he wanted to capitalize on that success with his own horror movie that basically rips off the "Halloween" formula. "Friday the 13th" increased the body count and made the deaths more gruesome for its time. (You did watch the uncut version because Kevin Bacon's death is slightly extended, as well as Annie's death). "Friday the 13th" became its own financial success, and I would argue started the "slasher" craze of the 80s as we know it today, introducing characters solely for the purpose of upping the body count.
So, back in 1980, Jason did not exist. He drowned in 1957, and his mother, Pamela Voorhees went crazy and took her revenge for her son's death on anyone who wanted to re-open Camp Crystal Lake. The reason we have Jason as the iconic killer you know today is because of movie studio greed. LOL A sequel was quickly ordered (again, a somewhat rare thing for movies at the time), and the writers had to come up with a plausible killer and settled on explaining that Jason did NOT drown. Well, you'll get the whole story in "Part 2." The premise seemed ridiculous, but the plot was never going to win any Oscars. It was all about the suspense, the jump scares and the box office cash register! LOL It obviously paid off because the "Friday the 13th" franchise became a worldwide phenomenon, with continuing projects on the drawing board today.
Every sequel that follows is more or less a carbon copy of the same formula, but each film has a stand-out reason as to why it was made. Again, it was a natural and organic evolution based on the time that each film was made.
I'm sorry for the long response. I'm not sure if I answered any of your questions, but if you continue with the series, hopefully you'll come to understand why this franchise is beloved by so many horror fans.
Exactly on the audio commentary an other bonus features on the 40th anniversary Edition of Friday the 13th. Sean s Cunningham says when asked to work on Friday the 13th part 2. He says he told the movie studio you do know Jason jumping out if the lake. Was one last jump-scare only right Jason was never. Alive an never in the movie or never in the lake at the end of the movie. Jason Voorhees was written as a dead character from the start to serve as motivation only. For his mother to go insane and start killing people only. He was never alive to begin with so how am I supposed to bring back someone who was never alive to begin with. So he turned down working on part 2 for that reason.
Then Tom Savini told the movie studio when asked to work on Friday the 13th part 2. You do know that Jason was never alive or in the first movie at all right. The end was just one last jump-scare only Jason was never in the lake at the end of the movie. Jason was never alive to begin with so how could he grow up to be a adult and a killer in the 2nd movie. So having Jason suddenly be alive an a adult and the killer in part 2. Is a stupid idea so he turned down working on part 2 an worked on the movie The Burning instead.
But the movie studio did not care about the facts. So they had the next people redcon or erase Jason Voorhees official cannon death. From the first movie in part 2.
Then the Judge in the court case for the rights to the original screenplay or script. To the first Friday the 13th movie ruled in Victor Miller's favor giving him soul rights to. Every single thing in that screenplay or script that means the name Jason Voorhees and his backstory.
The judge also added that the movie studio an Sean s Cunningham. Illegally used the name Jason Voorhees and his backstory. In Friday the 13th part 2 an after because they did not come up with the name Jason Voorhees and his backstory Victor Miller did. Along with the name Jason Voorhees and his backstory was only to be used in the first movie only. So the movie studio an Sean s Cunningham illegally used the name Jason Voorhees and his backstory in part 2 an after. So they have no rights to use the name Jason Voorhees and his backstory. All the movie studio an Sean s Cunningham got the rights to was. The image of a guy in a hockey mask because they added that in part 3.
So its official and cannon that Jason Voorhees died permanently. In 1957 as a child he drowned to death in Crystal Lake.
Everything after that is non cannon because. The movie studio an Sean s Cunningham illegally used the name Jason Voorhees and his backstory. Because if they illegally used the name an backstory that means it is non official and non cannon. Because they should not of even used the name Jason Voorhees and his backstory.
Basically the movie studio should of called the killer in part 2 an after. Like Bob or something because they had the hole death curse thing to work with. They could of easily made a new killer with that. But they didn't seriously right off the top of my head. A spirit that lives in Crystal Lake that takes over people's bodies an kills people. Hans a death curse I literally just came up with that idea so the movie studio had no excuses.
@scottarooni this is so helpful!! I didn't want to search anything up as to spoil future movies - it will be interesting to see how they develop Jason as a character. The Pamela twist was almost more fun for me because I was waiting for Jason haha!
The original is my favorite, and the jump scare with Jason was like the Jack in the box you never see it coming
yeah the calm music and Alice having a glimmer of hope felt like a happy ending until it wasn't
@somewhereinoctober Yes, that's what made it work. You think she's safe than boom 😲
I watched this when I was 7,8 yrs old. Thx dad❤. Nice vid reaction!
love how jason is the funniest retro twist ending :> As original twist ending was, "it's a woman." not that, "It's not jason.
Some fun, but sad fact. The snake was real and they really killed it. The snake handler cried. I am talking under correction, but I believe he punched or tried to punch the director, hopefully somebody will correct me. It's been many years since I learned about the behind the scenes of the movie
nooo 😭that is so upsetting - that is the scary part for me of watching movies that have created real harm.
@@somewhereinoctoberI found the snake was real at 11🤣🤣😭
You are correct. They said nothing about actually killing the snake, and when they did, the handler got so upset and outraged, he had to be escorted away. I don't blame him, because I would have started swinging too.
This was the uncensored version of the movie. The MPAA made them cut a lot, but this was still considered controversially violent when it came out. The main reason being that there was some breakthrough in latex rubber at the time, so the kills you do see were some of the most graphic ones ever filmed.
oh wow!! that's fascinating
The ending was originally written as a dream. There wasn’t any intention of doing a sequel, but the box office changed that. It was a smash hit, so Jason became a reality. The first six movies follow a pretty consistent timeline. There’s a five year time jump between this one and the majority of part two. Parts 4, 5, and 6 also follows a character arc featuring the only character to appear in three films, other than Jason of course. It’s commonly referred to as “The Jarvis Trilogy”.
he was also going to be in the final fim, but they didn't have the rights to the char, also why it's called jason goes to hell.
Really enjoyed this genuine first time watching reaction it was really cool seeing a first time perspective, as it reminded me of my first time. Great video look forward to watching the next one. 🍂🤞🔥🎬
Yesss!!! We love to see a new horror girlie. I’m here for your journey and excited to watch along with you. 🙌
every time theres a Friday the 13th the town of Blairstown NJ where this was filmed has a Friday the 13th day and the camp is still an active summer camp and they do tours of the camp that was used in the film
ouu I would love to do a tour
@@somewhereinoctober same here but tickets sell out fast as hell
Love when people see this for the first time, expecting it to be Jason, and then they're introduced to this nice old lady..... Who seems a little different. 😂😂😂
I was so confused when she got out of the Jeep
Also separate comment because its important non spoiler but forget. Any an all possible community in between the movies. Because one movie will say this is what the truth is then the next one will go forget what the last movie said. This is the new truth im not kidding the story around Jason Voorhees. Changes from movie to movie wich completely undoes the other movies. There is like 7 or 8 back ground stores for Jason not including the remake. So forget any movie continuity going forward.
Basically the movie studios didn't care about anything. As long as Jason was killing people you want to rewrite his backstory go ahead we don't care. Just have Jason killing people that's all we care about.
Thats kinda like the Halloween movie franchise. Do whatever you want as long as Michael Myers is killing people. Continuity doesn't matter just Michael Myers killing people matters.
Pretty much, that’s how horror franchises go. They become formulas and stagnate quickly, if the stories are not very carefully written.
@@roddmatsui3554 Not all of them for example the Saw movies have solid continuity from the movies. The Nightmare on Elm Street movies minus the 2nd one has solid continuity throughout the movies. Because the movie studios behind those movie franchise actually care about. Solid continuity and storytelling first.
But the ones behind the Friday the 13th an Halloween movie franchise didn't care about solid continuity or story telling. So its not all movie franchises just ones where the movie studios don't care about it.
Definitely watch all the Friday the 13th movies including the 2009 remake. Also, check out Trick ‘r Treat(2007), Jeepers Creepers(2001), Halloween(1978), I Know What You Did Last Summer(1997), and The Lost Boys(1987).
"I wanna know if I recognize any of these actors" right as Kevin Bacon was on screen is incredible timing
I didn't even realize at first haha
"Friday the 13th: Part 2" is my favorite horror movie. Period.
ouu!! makes me excited to keep going through these franchises
Jason's mother is the killer in the original Friday the 13th movie. You won't see Jason until after part 2. It's like revenge for seeing his mother beheaded which fuels his hate for mankind making him worse than mommy..
vengeance, I'm here for it
It probably was a dream but you're not supposed to really know if it was or if it wasn't because if you listen to what the cop says he said my men pulled you out of the water they thought you were dead too. But she was in a canoe.
For the record, F13 is SUPER OG and us from the 80's ALL know that ending, happened for real!!! 🏒 Great reaction and look forward to you properly meeting THE Jason, himself!! Muuuuuuhahahaha 🥰
Yeah the first film didn’t show a whole lot. The more sequels the more blood and stuff haha
Keep watching! The mask comes eventually 😉
Im not afraid lol best line from a killer
There are a few iconic slashers before F13 if that is of interest -
Black Christmas 1974 and Halloween 1978 are both great and worth watching.
Especially black Christmas
Jason Doesn't show up till Friday the 13th part two.
18:34 THAT is the proper reaction at this point in the movie.
I was not ready 😂
Even though you’re new to horror, I’m actually surprised you didn’t know it was Pamela going into this one haha! Awesome video!
I was soooo caught off guard
Great reaction😄
Fun reaction! Looking forward to where you go with the channel 😃
A suggestion for the future -
When you zoomed in at 13:50 was much better 👍
As far away as you are for most of the reaction made it hard to see your expressions, which is part of what we're here for 😉
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback, definitely trying to figure out a set up. I'll experiment with some crops and angles :)
My favourite of the franchise
I only like Jason Goes To Hell less.
So just found your channel, loving the videos so far. Cant wait to see more.
happy to hear that - I have A LOT planned
"I need the lore!"
No spoilers, but be careful what you wish for 😉
Most horror series that run as long as F13 get increasingly silly as they progress.
Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and Child's Play all go off the rails at some point too.
By the time something has gotten to the point where lore is necessary, it's usually about to jump the shark.
hahaha I'm sure I will regret asking for more. I love the backstory so it will suck when it goes off the rails, but maybe it will be a weirdly entertaining experience
I describe the Friday series as “silly” because I never took the story seriously from the beginning, only enjoyed Part 1 and Part 2 - and then the outrageous “Freddy vs. Jason” movie that was actually very good. The goofy “Jason X” (Friday Part 10) features the cyborg Jason attacking the crew of the spaceship piloted by geeks and hippies and pits Jason against a sexy robot woman who karate chops and kicks him. This takes the silliness way beyond normal levels into Looney Tunes territory, and is also popcorn fun, but feels like a video rental from Blockbuster. 😆👻
Please watch more of the franchise. I would love for you to do that.
Hopefully you continue the series. Loved it.
Oh hells yeah!!!! Reactions. Hope you have a good selection between popular and lesser known movies. Hope this channels grows and grows. Good luck
@@jacotromp59581 thank you!!! Yes I plan to do movies of all sorts, working through some of the base level horror franchises so I can start some other video ideas but no movie is off limits (yet lol)
A classic for sure!! You need to watch the movie "You're Next". In my opinion it's the greatest slasher movie in years!!
These types of movies weren't really made with lote in mind. Theybwere just movies.
The movie needs more volume.
i'll turn it up in my next one!
This IS the unrated cut... Annies's throat slit, the spear through the neck, the axe to the face and Mrs. Voorhees' decapitation are all shorter and less gory in the theatrical cut.
ohh interesting! I wanted more from it, but I understand the time plays a role
@@somewhereinoctoberFor one thing, the blood doesn't spurt into Kevin Bacon's mouth in the theatrical cut...
Couple movies suggestions: if you want to see horror movies that are extremely bloody and gory, watch Terrifier and Terrifier 2. If you want some movies that will actually scare you and make you feel uneasy, watch “It” from 2017 and “Hereditary” from 2018.
I want to watch Terrifier 3 for my christmas uploads so I'm going to have to watch the first 2 - not sure if im ready for the gore but here we go 😂
Some good movies for Halloween: The Monster Squad, Warlock, Ghoulies 2, Beetlejuice, Lore (2023), Abigail, Fear Street: Part One - 1994 from Netflix, Fear Street: Part Two - 1978, Fear Street: Part Three - 1666 from Netflix, Ghost Stories on Shudder, Sleepy Hollow, Trick R' Treat, Casper, Hocus Pocus, Under Wraps, Ghostbusters, Monster House, Night of the Demons, The Midnight Hour, The Forgotten One, ParaNorman, Waxwork part 1, Tales from the Hood, The Frighteners, Goosebumps, Creepshow, The Gate, Lady in White, Killer Party, Fright Night part 1, The Night Flier, The Lost Boys, Demons part 1, The Changeling, Poltergeist, The Mortuary Collection, Corpse Bride, Stake Land, Hellboy from Guillermo del Toro, Blade part 1, The Woman in Black, Crimson Peak, The Devil's Backbone, The Conjuring part 1, Evil Dead, Cabin in the Woods, Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight, House part 1, Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, Dog Soldiers, My Demon Lover and Pumpkinhead!!!
thank you so much for all of these! adding them to my list
I agree about dream sequences there such a lame technique
I understand..but wouldn't Jason be in his late 20s at that point?
GREAT REACTION ALEX! Love how you jump out of your seat during the scares and jumps lol! I'll say this though, TENSION is great! But I agree that without the payoff it feels wasted. There are times though that there is this huge tension build up and we never get the payoff, but it keeps us on edge (like we didn't get to relax, it's still lingering). It has to be done in a specific way though, but when executed well it's AMAZING! Love the little note taking here and there as well :)
Thank you! I agree - it did build tension but there were moments that needed a bit more pay off, but at the same time I did like the faster pace of the third act when everything happened and was revealed to Alice all at once
@@somewhereinoctoberLet me correct myself, I meant other films do a great job of building up that tension that keeps you on edge. Its been a good while since I’ve seen this one start to finish, but it sets things up well for the iconic Jason

Great reaction, can’t wait to see more reactions like this. This OG Friday is a classic, I’ve seen it multiple times and it’s a good film but I’d say Friday the 13th is actually one of my least favorite slasher franchises. Curious what you’ll think of the original Halloween (1978) film. Take care ✌️
that one is coming up! I'm curious what my favorite slasher series will be
@@somewhereinoctober yeah, some of my favorite slasher franchises are Halloween and the Child’s Play/Chucky movies. I think it depends on what you want or what you’re looking for in these kinds of movies. I know your a newbie so your not sure yet, but slasher movies for me, I’d say story, how invested and intrigued I am with the titular slasher villain and when the property takes itself more seriously, straightforward horror, no comedy. Everyone is different with these kinds of movies, some consider slashers, especially Friday the 13th, guilty pleasures cause they enjoy the kills. I’m sure the journey will be interesting for you going forward, I hope you find what your looking for with the slasher subgenre ✌️
Your reaction to this, with headphones, is excellent! Seems like you basically enjoyed this first movie in this silly horror series. *And you might very well enjoy the 2nd movie, Part 2. It’s a slick sequel* that does much the same thing as the first movie, but with about 3x the production style, nicer photography and sound, and better special makeup: They had a bigger budget, and original artist Tom Savini was busy on another film - so Carl Fullerton, a protege of Dick Smith of “The Godfather” and “The Exorcist” fame, was hired to create the gore, and he brought along a very talented crew of several rising makeup artisans like John Caglione and Kevin Haney - and they created gore makeups so bloody and horrifying that most of their work had to be cut before the film could be given an R rating. Still, what they did allow into the R cut is very shocking, and easily rivals the first film, if not doing the work a good notch better. And the overall film is dynamite, super entertaining and always keeps the viewer guessing.
I'm definitely ready for a higher production level and a bit more gore, easing into it though!
What makes Friday Part 2 so much fun for me is that *there’s more comedy and more playfulness - there’s even a campfire scene early on with the head camp counselor telling everyone the story of Jason living in the woods (good scene!) eating whatever animals he can find.* And they hired a really funny comedy actor to play the dorky clown - does the funny guy get killed? You don’t want the funny guy to get killed, because he knows about the area and the history of the murders (9 from the first film including the two from the beginning) at the lake. Beautiful storytelling in a creepy location! It’s amusing because, without spoiling anything, the Part 2 story doesn’t REALLY answer any questions - it just continues the story, this time with Jason as the mysterious killer, because the Paramount executives wanted a sequel - and the dream sequence “drowning child Jason” magically transformed (through the magic of creative writing!) into the hulking adult Jason, wearing a covering over his face with one eyehole. It doesn’t make sense from a logical perspective, but it makes PERFECT sense as a dark night, stuck alone in the woods, creepy killer stalking attractive young people movie. A popcorn, Saturday matinee movie fun kind of experience.
The silly sequels that followed the first two films varied wildly in quality, some were okay, some were awfully bad - but the first two are golden, and basically perfect examples of 1980s slasher movies.
Can't wait to see

Yeah, they ruined it at the end, it was the perfect ending with zombie Jason coming out of the water. But no, they have to use that old cliché "it was just a nightmare." Although that doesn't change how good that jump scare is, one of the best ever
yeah the scare is amazing, but it would have been more notable if they stuck to it being a full stop ending
New subscriber as of today
thank you!! happy to have you along for the ride
Those were man hands.
At the end ,when the man hands showed after Pam's head was cut off
It was not his mom's hands.
They used men hands.
interesting! I also wondered if it was Pam's hands during kevin bacon's scene and the shower curtain scene. Because the person was wearing plaid
18:01 It has nothing to do with the time period of the movie. There were practical effects in films BEFORE this movie that rival anything you're likely to see in horror films of today. This just isn't an example of that because it's a really low-budget B movie. That effect wasn't even good for the time. "The Evil Dead," was an amateur film from 81 made on an even lower budget and even it did more impressive things than that scene lol.
I'm going to have to check out Evil Dead, but I've heard it is gnarly!
Love to see more first timers!
Here's the deal an this is confirmed Jason Voorhees officially an permanently died. In 1957 like his mother clearly said in this movie an the truck driver clearly said a boy drowned in 1957. That boy was Jason Voorhees.
Its confirmed on the audio commentary an other bonus features on Friday the 13th the 40th anniversary Edition of the movie on physical media.
Sean s Cunningham clearly told the movie studio that Jason Voorhees was written as a dead character from the start to serve as motivation only. For his mother to go insane and start killing people only. He was never alive to begin with he was never in the movie he was never in the lake at the end of the movie. The end was one last jump-scare only it was all in her head. So how am I supposed to bring back someone who was never alive to begin with. In part 2 so he turned down working on part 2 for that reason.
Then Tom Savini told the movie studio that Jason Voorhees was never. Alive to begin with an never in the first movie an never in the lake. The end was just one last jump-scare only it was all in her head. So its stupid and makes no sense to have Jason suddenly be alive an a adult and the killer in part 2. So he turned down working on part 2 and worked on the movie The Burning instead.
So its official and cannon that Jason Voorhees died permanently an officially as a child in 1957. He officially drowned to death in Crystal Lake like his mother said clearly in this movie.
If you don't believe me get the 40th anniversary Edition of Friday the 13th. Then listen to the audio commentary an watch the other bonus features for yourself.
So that means that Ms Voorhees did it all by herself in this movie. No sequel was ever planned but the movie studio redconed or erased Jasons permanent an official cannon death. From the first Friday the 13th movie in part 2 To make a copycat Michael Myers character.
One description they wear a white mask or something on their head/face. Along with go around killing people that describes Michael Myers who came first. Along with Jason Voorhees the only difference is when an where they kill people. So that makes Jason Voorhees a copy of Michael Myers an nothing else.
Interesting! So when she was speaking as if it was Jason speaking through her it was just all insanity and the lake monster was just Alice's manifestation? I should listen to the 40th anniversary of Friday the 13th. Will it spoil any of the other movies, aka should I watch them first?
@@somewhereinoctober They basically only talk about the first movie. On the audio commentary an other bonus features the bonus feature The man Behind the Legacy Sean s Cunningham. Is basically spoiler free it's mainly how it all started an became what it became you knew time line of events. Things like this was happening when we went to make this an so on.
But if you stick with the audio commentary for now you are spoiler free for sure. But basically yeas Ms Voorhees was just hearing her son in her head. He was bared in a cemetery so he was quite dead permanently.
Then the end with her being pulled into the water it never happened. It was all a dream like the cop said at the end.
And if you think THIS looks tame??? Wait till you get to the later entries in the series, like pats VII and VIII. The MPAA REALLY took it to those movies in the late '80s and forced the filmmakers to cut out almost ALL the gore from them to avoid an NC-17 rating... Hell, part VIII is practically bloodless!
hmmm is there uncut versions of all of these? I think I'm going to keep seeking out uncut versions to try and get the full effect
@@somewhereinoctoberunfortunately no.... But there are "slashed scenes" for parts 2, 4, 6, 7 and 8... You'd probably have to look those up on TH-cam after you've watched the movies....
Yeah, the quality of the uncut scenes from parts 2 and 7 is so poor, it'd be really hard to clean them up and reincorporate them back into the movies. Still very watchable though, but you can tell the difference in quality. Plus, it's raw footage that hasn't been scored or edited to fit into the movie seamlessly. Heck! The part 2 footage was just discovered a couple years ago and has no sound!
Is Jason a ghost? It's complicated. Keep watching.
yup gotta get the story ASAP
@@somewhereinoctober Let's just say that he evolves over the course of the franchise.
This movie has aged poorly, however it is one of the best of the entire saga.
Esta pelicula envejecio mal, sin embargo es una de las mejores de toda la saga.
I think it's kind of gotten better with pop culture associating F13 with Jason, as Mrs Voorhees is often such a surprise to those expecting Jason and then up pops Jason for one of the best stingers in horror even if they know about Mrs Voorhees
I definitely enjoyed the viewing experience because I couldn't figure out if it was Jason or not
Aged poorly?? Lol in what sense? Because creators everywhere of anytime period EVER would KILL-hockey mask or not-😘-for this kind of ICONOGRAPHY!! Its literally got a young lady in the year of 2024 watching it off of PURE cultural significance 😅...
@@MrBreezeLI516 Ok. Si eres novata en esto. Entonces no puedo discutir contigo. Listo, se acabó 🙂 If you are new to this. Then I can't argue with you. Ready, it's over 🙂
Next horror movie you should do is nightmare on elm street
Enjoy 😊
Watch scream it's very interesting specially scream 2
Make the movie bigger and yourself smaller,
I will do that with the next one :)
It's probably best, if possible, to not go in looking for what you think you know about the series. Like many franchises, FRIDAY THE 13TH evolves over time, and some of the elements popularly thought of as signature traits don't show up until well into the series. There's "lore" in that there's an accumulation of details sprinkled into each film but they don't congeal into a consistent origin story for a while, if they ever do at all.
It isn't until the '90s that the horror genre begins to become self-aware and indulge in metafiction. Movies like WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE and especially SCREAM kicked off the recursive age of horror, that is, horror movies ABOUT horror movies. This is when terms like "final girl" - coined in the book MEN, WOMEN, & CHAINSAWS: GENDER IN THE MODERN HORROR FILM - begin to seep into pop culture and become used by even casual film fans.
I'm big on story - it balances out horror for me because if I'm curious I will be deep into it, so I wonder how I will react to movies that are more horror less story
@somewhereinoctober with reboots and retcons, lots of horror franchises are a continuity disaster area. TEXAS CHAINSAW and HALLOWEEN have well-documented issues with continuity as different creators just added or ignored what they wanted in each installment.
If story and lore is the biggest draw for you, I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the CHILD'S PLAY/CHUCKY franchise. The main timeline (ignoring a 2019 attempted remake which stands alone) spans 7 movies and 3 seasons of television, with the same writer and an ever-increasing cast of characters played by the same actors, AND as the series moves along the lore gets more and more insane. AND, everything remains in continuity. No arbitrary contradictions for plot convenience. It's one gigantic, ridiculous, insane and gory soap opera story stretching from 1988 to present day. A journey well worth taking!

Brilliant reaction video! Are you going to watch in a violent nature ?
yes! I saw it ranked in a video this past weekend and thought the premise and reviews are interesting! + I'm canadian so seems fitting haha
@@somewhereinoctober Lol 😂

🤣
What camera do you use to record?
I have a DJI Osmo pocket 3! It does the job, but the battery lasts for about 90-120 minutes. My Sony overheats in 30 minutes so I'm probably going to invest in a camcorder eventually
have you already seen Halloween?
no but its coming soon :)
You see Final Destination yet? I'm guessing you've seen scream, right?
I've watched the third final destination - never seen scream 😳
@somewhereinoctober oh for real? Damn that's an obvious top choice. Especially after seeing Friday the 13th. Definitely try and get a viewing in, I'd love to see your reaction and I'm sure you're gonna enjoy it. Maybe see if you can watch Halloween first, too, actually. It's not necessary, but I think you'll appreciate scream more if you do 👌🏻
It would be better if you were watching scary movies in a less brightly lit room.
I will dim my lights next time - i'm going to experiment with in the dark eventually
@@somewhereinoctober Nice! I realize it's tricky to find the right balance between being visible on camera and scary room ambiance. I hope you find something that works for you.
I will say take this how you want first Friday the 13th got me into horror and everything the last 15 years but the series I’ll still Watch it someone throws it on but out of the big guys for franchises Halloween nightmare etc it’s the least rewatchable for me don’t get me wrong I have my big big favs in the franchise just 15 years ish after I’m a Halloween and nightmare on elm street and scream guy but my 3 favourite Friday films are part 4 witch you’ll love part 6 is my third favourite and it’s a great watch and nice movie when u get into it and my ALL TIME FAVOURITE FRIDAY film is part 7 the new blood one thing i will never defend is one thing it’s the only thing I hate with the movie but do your research on the actors playing Jason part 7-10 is the Kane hodder he is a fan favourite yes part 7 I’ll love forever shoutout being Canadian I am 2 go leafs 🥲🤷🏼😅
I'm really interested to get more into the series - because I truly haven't got any Jason yet 😆That's one thing about this first film - it doesn't seem like a movie I would watch again unless I HAD to. BUT I actually did enjoy the viewing experience, I just wanted a bit more. I'm excited to dive into these franchises 😃
@@somewhereinoctobera nightmare on elm street 1 and 3 are my favourites 2 is a lot different and weird 4 is the start of the decline 5 is a fun time but messy and 6 we don’t talk about part 6
Choo choo choo uhhh uhh uhhh 🔪 I like all the Fridays. But the third just hits different for me 💪🏻
I'm going to hear that in my head forever haha
@@somewhereinoctober forever it will stay, guaranteed. I don’t know how or who devised such a random bit of sounds but it worked all too well
The film's video would be much better if it was large, and your personal reaction smaller.
I had another comment say the opposite of this - I will play around with different editing styles until I find something that works :)
Talked way too much, right from the start. Couldn't even keep that trap shut during the first kills. Unwatchable. Unsubbable.
Next!
Bye bye Betty
Girl for the love of God hush your mouth.
if you just want to watch the movie go watch the movie 🙂
I swear this girl is starting to annoy me. Stop talking and just watch the film.
I had to chop out all the parts that I wasn't talking because of copyright - also I am a yapper so nothing will change
@@somewhereinoctobernew subscriber here. Some people just don't know that this is a REACTION channel. The fun part is watching the reactions because most people have already seen the movie. Be yourself, keep reacting, your channel will grow. Can't wait for the next one
