  • Tom Pfrogner is not your average Lost in Space fan. This high school band teacher has outfitted his basement with an incredible life-sized reproduction of the Jupiter Two Flight Deck and talking B9 Robot which accompanies his impressive collection of screen-used and screen-worn props and costumes from the cult-classic TV shows. Joining Lisa is Doug Hines, a fellow Lost in Space fan and builder of movie and television prop recreations. Doug appraises this out-of-this-world collection and offers Tom a trade for one of his beloved items for another rare piece of Lost in Space history.

I was age five when show was on tv, Sep.1965. Even for the second season we did not have a color tv. And would mom let us kids watch what we wanted to? Nope. Back in the late 70s, I was still living in Vegas as a teenager. I would go to the MCM prop store in the MCM hotel a lot. They had tons of authentic props from movies and TV shows. Once I was there and they had one of the "cycles" from the daniel J. Travanti episode where smith breathed in some gas and got strong and had green curly hair. These misfit biker hippie aliens were sent to destroy the planet the robinsons were on. They had two space bikes in the show. They had one at the MCM prop store and I got to climb on it and really check it out. I believe it and all the props were destroyed in the 1980 mgm hotel fire.

    • @Lethgar_Smith
      @Lethgar_Smith 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Daniel J. Travanti from Hill Street Blues. You know what other actor from Hill Street Blues was in an episode of Lost in Space? Michaels Conrad "Let's be carful out there", played the prisoner Creech in the episode Fugitives in Space.
      Interesting bit of trivia, the makeup artist that created the mask for Creech would use the same technique for the Planet of the Apes film that was in production around the same time.

    • @AvengerII
      @AvengerII 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Anth230 Guy Williams was also NOT a fan of the LIS series. He thought it was silly, that the scripts were terrible. He was probably not also happy that the series quickly became the "Dr. Smith and Robot" show. Granted, series revolve around the more popular characters but when you're hired as THE lead and your co-star gets the producer's and writers' preferential treatment it doesn't sit well. Call it human ego but when your employer hires you with different assurances it never sits well.
      Although he was typecast by the Disney Zorro TV series Williams' general experience with that series was more pleasant for him.

Even have the working landing struts to lift the entire ship! Working engine lights, and a massive sound sound system to recreate those sweet engine sounds!!! A working chariot I could drive around in! And of course a Robot!! Would have to build a Space Garage, since we all knew the chariot would never fit inside the ship unless you built it larger than scale! Forget about the Space Pod! I’m not that attached to it, again not enough room! BTW, Marta Kristen is STILL beautiful and lovely! (Personally, I was more infatuated with Judy, than Penny, but she was lovely too)!
    PS. I would change some things, like the sleeping quarters. ‘Ain’t gonna sleep on a fold-down single bunk, and would add a nice bathroom, ( which was never shown on then show! Can you imagine seven people sharing one bathroom)??

    LOL no way would I have traded those dolls! You won't be able to read those signatures in a few years and I can't believe such a die-hard collector wouldn't already have all those signatures already.

    I'd love to have a full size version of the lost in space robot. I'd modify it though turning it into a full on IoT device so it could sense, roam around the house shooting video and relaying it to my phone remotely. It would charge itself and always be on with sensors running in case a burglar / unknown person came in.
    Not that hard with a Raspberry pi, a few sensors, stepper motors, etc.

      As he'd have the chance, the burglar would probably pinch your B9 robot, too...

    The Japanese dolls are extremely rare especially a full set. I've never seen the Guy Williams or June Lockhart one's ever for sale. You will need to go to the Japanese Chiller show to find them all.

      The Japenese dolls are ugly and look nothing like the characters...Penny is smaller than will. Executive Replicas and Sci Fi Metropolis made better updated dolls of the characters...looks more like them and Penny looks like a grown up as she did in season 3

    Some of those boxed toys behind them are worth thousands. The rifle with Billy Mumy on the box is impossibly rare, maybe $20K+ ?
    And...He made a bad trade at the end.

    I question these appraisals. There is a point in time where the value starts to drop simply because the number of original fans are getting fewer and they are not being replaced by new fans.

    That Robot panel is missing Guy Williams signature. That's Bob May on the right and Bill Mumy on the left. The rest are pretty easy to make out.
    They should have made that clear in the video.
    It's very misleading for them to keep over-enthusiastically saying, "The entire cast!"
    But then, "overly-enthusiastic" pretty much describes the acting style of 80s era sit-coms.

    • @gerrydooley951
      @gerrydooley951 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes, I noticed the same thing, also no Dick Tufeld, who really is the robot, nobody cared who or what was inside the robot, no matter how much Bob May has tried to take credit for it starting in 1983 with the Family Feud appearance.
