- This is the complete rendition of Jamiroquai's "Stoned Again" mix of "Space Cowboy" (of music video fame), featuring nearly 3 minutes of additional music. Compared to the official album's version, the structure of this song is very similar, except it's done very differently, such as Stuart Zender on bass.
This mix is a single-only track and is not present in "Return of the Space Cowboy", explaining its rarity. Wikipedia also claims this is the original version of "Space Cowboy".

Ok, but I'm not even 20 and I learned this song a while ago.
I listened to this song on repeat for about an hour or two last night as I couldn't sleep... I still didn't fall asleep but I felt 100% relaxed and at peace with the world... as if I was in a beautiful trance... How can a song be this powerful to the mind?! It's amazing!

This is by far the best version of the song. It has a proper chilled 70's funk vibe to it (even down to the "so high in the sky" dual vocals). Why is this track so hard to find?!
They should have put it on the reissue back in 2013.

When i was 5 in 2000,i used to listen to space cowboy everyday. I always loved the album version,untill i discovered this version today. It is so beautiful i think is going to steal the original version's place in my heart.
To be fair this had to be the original version but it was later changed to the one we are used to

This is an awesome version of Space Cowboy; just the right balance between the original studio, subsequent recordings and live performances. I just played along w/ Stuart for an hour or so here in Phoenix, Arizona (USA).

This was my first experience with Jamiroquai. That was a year ago and I still cant stop listening to this band. I hope they continue this amazing music for years to come.
you missed the boat son. nowadays JayKay is more interested in disco and cars than acid jazz/funk. just enjoy what they did...look for the new stuff there is some good stuff out there, you just need to know where to look...
I've been looking at some of his newer stuff and its just not the same. Zender took the band to a higher spot, with him gone in the recent albums Jamiroquai is just disco stuff.

Space Cowboy Stoned again, my absolutely favourite Soundtrack ever, when i smoke some cheeba. 2017 and this music is still fresh... thanks to Jamiroquai.

Think I dig this version more than the album version. Very laid back and has more of that 80's smooth jazz vibe.

You can see how much better the song developed in the album version. From 4.53-5.25 of the album version of Space Cowboy is MAGICAL, where everything slows and silences. I only wish a version existed with that synth section extended for a minute or so

It's no slower - It's because the background chords flange of phase from right to left in your ears. Wonderful.
This IS the original version .. Jamiroquai never managed to re-create this feel in the studio .. problem was it wasn't perfect and the mix was not good enough for the album
only problem with the mix is that the vocals needed to be more present. Otherwise fine.

The best version of this song to date i wish they had this single extended version on the album so much better than the album version but i like both i can't complain

Should've been a bonus track on the '95 U.S. release of the album. Much as I like the more laid back version on the original release, I like the added percussion and slightly uptempo vibe of this one just as much. Miss the original lineup whenever I hear hidden gems like this. RIP, Toby!

After listening closely to both versions, this version is just funkier and more psychadelic. The album version is more chill funk. But if I really need the funk...this version.
I had never been stoned but I love this. Just like Bob Marley, you don't have to smoke to enjoy it. Or you don't have to be a Christian to enjoy Bach. That's it.
Get what you're saying and agree but, as an aside, being a Christian is definitely comparable to be (too) stoned for anyone's good.
Always liked this version so much better than the original. Stu Zender is the reason why. Such an underrated bass player. So nasty here.

i just dont like the whole middle bass riff . Feels like a slap in the face during the middle of a calming song. That and Jays voice feels more tired in this one compared to the original mix. those things aside, space cowboy is space cowboy, and this is still a banger song

Thanks Mike :) Sure, after all Mr. X pretty much plays along in Zender style, so that his omission is not THAT obvious. But still... to me, Stu is one of the main reasons why I loved that ol school funk Jamiroquai sound so much back in the 90s.

well Zender was really key to that sound but I would say Jamiroquai still sounded amazing after he left/ was unjustly dismissed or improperly credited, whichever it is

this is the Space Cowboy version, along with the single version which is SLIGHTLY different, that Stuart Zender did the bass. The studio version was done by somebody else. I can't recall. It says it in my CD booklet from 1994, but i cant remember
I think that "Stoned" has more to do with the fact that Al Stone was the mixing engineer for this album.

@WildShadow8 for JK it is, but he's mentioned that the song represents the best feeling for the individual... for him its cannabis, and same goes for many people, and sometimes its dancing, or singing, or reading a book, the space cowboy is a metaphor or a symbol for euphoria.
Zender rox! Still can't quite grasp why JK couldn't wait a couple more days in order to record the album version of Space Cowboy with Stu and had to recruit "Mr X" instead...
Mr Zender is definitely one of the missing ingredients in Jamiroquai's "modern" (post 99) sound; a piece of the puzzle that has gone and took away with it the unique vibe in Jamiroquai's sound. Just compare Mr Moon to Hot Tequila Brown (*puke*) and you'll know what I'm talking about... "So where has the love all gone..."

With packed stadiums 10 and 20 years ago you couldn't really argue Jamiroquai was underrated but I'm baffled how forgotten he/they seem to be nowadays especially with hot new artists clearly influenced by these classic songs

I think they kinda went downhill post Return (again, personal opinion only, not trying to convince anyone otherwise)
