You provide an immensely intense journey and let us digest these pieces properly. This and many others you played have become my favorite listenin tempi.

I am preparing the “l’aimable” at the moment and also the “romance” by Liszt. The ornaments in Royer’s piece are quite sophisticated and need a good regulated piano action and some practicing.
The Liszt is great for voicing and arpeggios and especially interesting for implementing the rotation of the forearm.
I always like to have the pieces played without any cutting in the video. And although it seems to be easier to play the pieces slowly, the challenge is its “honesty”. You can see everything that is not absolutely perfect. In speed one can’t see lots of things that are not perfectly played.

@@pianocheckpoint I agree. I know how hard to sustain the level of expertise in slow playing. But, the real virtuosity lies at that. That is why your work is personally appreciated by me and many people alike. I have more challenges für dich. 🐈

Great! Just recently I would not have even taken on this work, it seemed so difficult to me. But now, after I myself figured out Adagio 974. And with your help, Checkpoint, I am improving its performance, this Nocturne no longer seems so difficult. The only thing you will have to practice is with ascending and descending “scales” at the end of the piece.

Could you tell me what kind of recorder you use when making a tutorial , Is it A 442? Because your tuning is incredible😮 and sounds so good that I almost prefer listening to your slow motion tutorial instead of the original speed. I wish my piano could sound as well-tuned as yours🎉.

    • @pianocheckpoint
      @pianocheckpoint  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@DominionNFT Thanks for your comment. I use my IPhone XS for the video recording and a Sure MV88 microphone connected to my phone. Then I use VLLO to do the editing and adjusting the volume and add some room ambience. In a second step I mostly add the transitions with CapCut to adjust the final volume and add mostly all the text.
I teach now nearly 40 years, but I learned 20 years ago tuning pianos and serving them. So there was a time I mostly tuned pianos and hardly any teaching, but I came back to teaching more and tuning less. I have received quite a good reputation as a tuner and now I am in the comfortable position to do mostly high quality tunings, also for events and concerts of course.
I tune my the Hofmann upright that is used for the video myself and the pitch is always between a 440 and 442 Hz, depending on the weather and climate.
For the latest recording I did on the Chopin Prelude 4 it’s on 442, but because the weather is quite hot and high air humidity, it sounds a bit too dull. The hammer heads has swollen up a tiny amount and I will probably do some extra work on that soon.
Whenever possible I will try to achieve a harmonic tuning by using the double octave and the twelfth in a certain relationship.
In the end the whole piano should be really „in tune“ and not just tuned. There are huge differences in the tunings.
What kind of brand do you own? Mostly there can be done wonders to make a piano sound 100% better.
Here an example of my work, using only the iPhone for recording:th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQrUGDtq1HzDVqZOYrKCHxBOUBw9B8fJI?si=QZK2dBWPHbK565Si

@@pianocheckpoint Thank you sir for your warm comment and for sharing more about your work with me and others. I appreciate your effort in playing the piano with emotion, even in a slow-motion tutorial, as well as your meticulous tuning and editing to produce a video with excellent sound quality for everyone.
Currently, I own a used Yamaha U3A piano. In my country, Japanese pianos are preferred due to their affordability and suitability for the climate. Great tutorial as always...After,it's a just a matter of practice and time....Browsing through your playlist,I didn't find Chopin's Etude n3 ,named "Tristesse" or Chanson de l'Adieu...Chopin described it as his most beautiful melody....
A tutorial of the 1st part of that piece would be great...The central part is way way way too difficult....

Thanks very much for your comment! Chopin’s Etude No 3 is one of my favorite pieces and I will record it very soon. I am not sure if I should make two separate videos, one with the first part only and one with the whole piece.

@@pianocheckpoint Yes,2 separate videos would be better....The 1st part is
approachable for an intermediate pianist(I'm about grade 5),but the central part is really very demanding, and technically at a very high level(rated 10 or more by many scales)....Most of the tutorials on the web don't bother with that central part and stick to the 1st part....But maybe some upper grade learners would be grateful if you include the central part of the piece..As to me I'm awaiting your tutorial on Beethoven's Sonata n7 3rd movement, the Menuetto....

Before that I need to finish an easier Dovernoy, the Handel Passacaglia and the remix of the Bach-Marcello. I used a score with minor mistakes and they are corrected in the upcoming 2nd version. Some ornaments are missing or not correct.

The Bach/Marcello adagio is beautiful, but seems endless...

Go directly to the piece. Or choose one with a similar left hand.
Can you recognize the chords in the Chopin piece? Or can you please tell me how you think while playing?
Look at this and go to E-Major/C#-Minor cadence as something to practice.

I would suggest that you choose the quarter note at around 60 bpm. As a final goal.
While practicing increase the speed very slowly and in tiny, tiny amounts.
