- Welcome back everyone! Today I will show you how to install El wire on 2019 Honda Pilot Touring. [Step-by-Step Installation Guide] Additional ambient lighting by hard wiring to existing ambient lights on the foot well. Great easy mod to do. Hardest part was wiring. Trying to connect the t tap connectors and getting good contact. Everything else was easy.

I think he forgot to show how he set in wire from dashboard to side doors..
I think he ran a seperate wire for each door and the dash. He said on a comment he used a total of 5 inverters (1 for each door and the dash). He tapped into the wires in each door. I thought people used one long wire but I think this is the only way you won't see the wire from the doors to the dash.

@@VicBeatz Today, I have fixed it in my car. I ran the wire from the door electrical connector. But it need drilling in the connector to pass wire through it.

great video, I think it looks awesome and makes your vehicle much more attractive. However, wouldn't taping power from the foot well cause it to light up only when you open the doors and then turn off after a minute or so?

I used a total of 5 inverters. One on each door and one for the footwell.

Hey I just wanted to say awesome job that you have bin doing and thanks for the info with the lights as well I managed to install the lights on my dash I tried to do the door but the original ambient light went out on me the driver and pasanger factory ambient light stopped working look to see if I had a fuse out but all the fuses are fine wanted to know if you ran in to the same issue any input would help I would really appreciate it again have a great day and keep up the good work
Thanks. Make sure none of the wires are touching by accident. Did you disconnect the battery when connecting the wires so you don't accidentally touch the wires together. If the ambient light went out and no fuse is out my guess is you might have accidentally shorted the master window switch which I believe is the main control for the ambient light.
@@AutoSensation thats the thing all the windows and everything else is working fine thats what driving me crazy and no I didn't disconnect the battery thats my fault
@@philatesla1017 the master window switch would be my best guess. Even though all the windows still work this could still be the problem. Shorted something in there pertaining only to the ambient light but not the window switch itself.

Hello, Is it possible to install Auto-Hold button to a car. Secondly to have fog light come on when steering wheel is turn to a side. This helps to see corner better. Thanks.
It is possible if your curent vehicle has a kit for it like the audi for the auto-hold. The cornering feature can be done. However, I have not found a kit or controller that can help achieve this. It is on my lis once i find such a control module.

You can do it. Not that hard. Maybe a little tedious but manageable.
I have a 2017 honda ridgeline the interior is the same I wanted to know how many l wires you used if you bought individual ones for the door I would greatly appreciate the input I'm doing the same to my truck looks awesome great work
I used 16ft for the dashboard. Each door I used 3ft. Each has there own power inverter.

Hey lovely job btw. My question is similar to Mr Marco Ramos in that I was wondering also if you need multiple kits for this kind of set up on your cars interior. From your reply I see that you do indeed need separate lighting cable and plug kits for each place you require fitting your lighting. So just to add to that how do you go about fitting the multiple plugs ? Do you need to adapt the cabling so that you end up plugging everything into the same place or are there multiple sockets you can tap into. And my last query was about avoiding overloading the voltage. I assume you can quit easily blow the fuse so what do I need to do to make sure I do it correctly. Safety first and all that jazz.. appreciate your help
Is it safe to connect those lights to window lowering buttons? they're already lighting when car lights are on.
I think they will be alright. I am not an electrician or anything but I would maybe put an inline fuse so you don't blow out the master window switch.

Each door has and adapter or inverter. Then I tapped into the ambient lights that are already on the door handles.
Where did you get the electricity? From window lifter cables?
I got it from the existing ambient light from the doors.
For the rear doors did you use a separate light drip from the ones from the front or did you feed it through the doors?
Yes. Total of 4 strips. One on each door.

They're called EL wire or electroluminescent wire. You can find them with minimal effort on your part

if you just push the wire into the grooves of your dash would it not pop out or slide out every now and then? ive never handled EL wire so idk
The grooves in the pilot are tight enough where it would not move.
Did you have to by multiple? I mean each one has its power source so I figured once it's cut thats it so 5 straps in total 1 for the dash and 4 separate for the doors right? It's confusing how they get constant power to stay on in the back door if there is no power besides the light
Yes. You would have to buy multiple. Longer one for the dashboard and short ones for you doors.

Not sure. Try changing the power inverter.

You can try to tap into the fuse box. Use a tester to find a fuse that turns on when you turn the ignition on and off when the ignition is off. I would reccomend to use a fuse tap. amzn.to/3hwWdZw

Yes. On the bottom driver side there is a fuse box. Get a continuity tester and see which fuse gets power when the parking lights or headlights go on. Use a piggy back fuse to tap into the power source. See my other video for piggyback fuse. I think I used it for me underglow lights.

No. I did not do that. For the doors I just tapped into the ambient light that's already there in the door handle.

How do you give it power in the doors
I get them from the ambient light from each door handle. If you don't have that try getting them from the power windows.

Each door panel is separate. 1 meter each.

I purchased separate lights. Five meters for the dashboard and 4 one meter el wire for each door.

These can't. You would need to get laser wire or fiber optic
Does installing this void Toyota warranty?
Most dealerships would find anything to void warranty if they can find something to give reason. If you tamper with anything most likely warranty will be void.
Do they stay on when the car is running and driving?
They stay on only when your headlights are on. They are all connected to the interior ambient light.

@@KDMND tap the wire to the fuse box on the driver side. Find a constant fuse that is on when the vehicle is on. Make sure it turns off when the vehicle is off. Use a multi meter or continuity tester.

Looks like they are out of the set I bought. You can buy separately. You need power inverter for each separate wire you plan on connecting. Unfortunately they are not.
Any creeping or rattling? Any wires lose their brightness, flicker or fade over time?
The right rear is starting to flicker not bad only on bumps. I think it might be loose or something. When I have time I will investigate.

You can but it might always stay on if your cigarette lighter has constant power.

It looks hard to install
Not really. Looks harder than it is. I wanted to hard wire so they work in sync with the factory ambient light. You can also just plug it straight to the cigarette lighter for the dashboard lights.
Worst thing is EL wire is only good for about a year under constant use... may get a bit longer in some cases but not sure if its really worth the effort
