I switched from walker to hustler 5 years ago and I’m never looking back. Hustlers give me almost no problems, and cut taller, thicker, wetter grass faster than any other mower I’ve used. Thanks for the review 🎉
Finally got to use my new 2022 FasTrak SDX 60 last week. I put about an hour on it. First thing I noticed is that it’s under powered. It needs a bigger engine than the FX730V for a 60” cut. It will suit my needs though.
really? what mower are you comparing it to that makes you think it's under-powered? is it bogging or slowing down? for comparison the scag patriot 61 has the same engine and hydros and is the same weight also. the badboy maverick hd has the same engine/hydro combo and weights over 100lbs more. while researching any of these mowers, i never came across any posts on the forums of them being under-powered. the 651/691/730 are the same bored and stroke, basically the same engine just with a different horsepower sticker on it for sales tactics. one can argue the different throttle plates in the carb but you can adjust the final engine RPM to get that extra horsepower but at the cost of longevity. basically i'm saying that engine/hydro combo is used in many brands and not sure if it's a lack of power, but more of the type and length of grass/weeds you're cutting. i could mow 3-4ft tall weeds with my 52" with a kawa 691v and if i just go full speed into it, i can kill the engine. I have to east into it and make a few extra passes. that's worst case scenario. even blade tip speed is different with different deck sizes but not enough to cause what you're thinking... i'm trying to go down all avenues of what may make that feel underpowered. either the rpm isn't set right, there's something going on with the air filter, or the most common thing i see/hear is the blades are on upside-down :) post a video when you can starting it up, letting it idle, then mid throttle for a minute or two, then engage the PTO and crank her up to full throttle and let me hear that thing sing.
@@travisricks3436 in theory, the FX850V is a true 850cc (852cc to be exact) engine, compared to the FX730 (726cc) on paper it's about 5hp and 5 lb ft more torque. now apply the power to weight ratio to the super Z you had (i'm assuming it was a 60") which weighs TWICE as much as your FasTrax SDX, either the VX4 deck is that good, or there's something wrong with your engine, rpm, blades, deck leveling, tire pressure, hydro(s), etc. somethings not adding up here. i can understand a little bogging depending on the grass situation but it shouldn't feel under-powered, especially if other manufacturers are running the same engine/hydro/weight combo and have for years without issue. best thing is to make a quick video of you cutting so we can hear it in action to make sure everything is working right. does it sound like you're only running 1/2 an engine? maybe there's an intermittent coil or something else going on. when i am full throttle and i try and mow something that's too much, i'll hear the governor arm kick in, it will try to maintain rpm when it senses the rpm's are dropping. sometimes the spring can get compromised, or the arm can get bent, etc. they are usually set properly from the factory but shit (dealers) happen haha. if you only had 1/2 of your engine running all the time, then it would drive, but when the PTO is on and you attempt to cut it would probably die or , bog way down to an idle, that to me would be evident of a coil pack, bad plug, wire, etc. hope to see your video next week or two.
@@morejelloplease the VX4 on the Super Z is a bad ass deck. I will try to make a video when it’s time to cut the grass again. I do like the machine/mower though. I was cutting Spring grass at 2.5” here in South Louisiana.
@Travis Ricks only other thing I can think of is crappy gas. Usually they will fill the tank, or a tank if it has dual tanks. But if they filled it and it sat for 6 months that could be an issue, other than that I'm stumped. I'd check the ground cables while you're at it. Do you smell fuel or anything else odd other than lack of power? Or it runs fine and you Would like for it to have more power, just curious what makes you think it was underpowered in the 1st place.
Congratulations! I love mine too, even though I haven’t got to cut with it yet. I’m sure you will love your Fastrak SDX. Do you cut commercially? I do not. I also love Hustler’s 4 year/ 1000 hour warranty on the SDX.
3 different dealers. The new tiger cat had 5 leaks. Both wheel motors, the fitting into the wheel motor, one into the pump and the Vanguard efi itself was missing gasket material on the crankcase.
I liked your video on the Bad Boy. I've always thought they are not as good as everyone claims. Mostly dealers so I'm guessing they have good profit margins. Did you checkout Gravely in your price range?
Best review I’ve seen so far for the Hustler Fasttrak.
Thanks, the honeymoon might be ending quickly,. I'm having cut quality issues. If you check out my other vidoes, you'll see what I'm taking about.

Thanks for the video, came over from your Bad boy video.
That’s a great looking machine! Tires look like they will go off roading. Congrats buddy

Hi, nice video. Just curious, most of the scags issues seem to come because of bad dealer prep. Have you always purchased from the same dealer?

Would be nice if the oil light was down at the feet rest.
Haha or better yet have the engine shut off with an override button.

I did but only a zt xl 52, and I compared it to my Liberty z at the time when I had scag fever.
What did this machine cost?
$9299 was the promo price not including military discount. MSRP was 10,899.
