- While riding in New England, TommyG and I signed up for the Can-Am Experience in Enfield, CT and Mark's Motorsports, June 2023. We test rode 2023 models: F3 Limited Special Series and the Sea To Sky. We had so much fun as Tiffany led us on a 50 mile test ride. It's easy to sign up for the Can-Am Experience and well worth your time!

@@PurpleOnThree Wow, wasn't expecting such a rapid response. I purchased a 2022 RT Limited Edition in blue. Its ten weeks old this past Friday. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. It took several weeks to get the confidence to get out on the interstate, but since then I've driven it work on the interstate and through the local tunnel a few dozen time. My wife has ridden on the passage seat several times. Looking to join a group ride in the fall. I will reach out to you via one of the media you listed above shortly. Thank you for your response. I remember my first time out on the interstate and yes, it was a little scary, especiall I-80 across PA with all the tractor trailers, lol. That's great your wife rides with you too! Sometimes I am more punctual than others with my replies...we are heading out on a long trip on Saturday so trying to keep caught up and even get ahead lol before we hit the road! Hello, Michele! Thank you for watching and commenting and riding along. Sounds like we should do a video/discussion about the coms as you and Grumpy have suggested....In the meantime, we use the Sena 20C EVO's as they capture audio and video. Now, I must say that Tommy and I were both a little disappointed with his audio ( I used my recording of the audio for almost the whole video...then later on you can hear him more clearly---at that point in time my Sena battery quit and we used his recording of the audio, so then my voice was softer and more muffled..). ..we are not sure why this happened so before we head out again, we are updating our Senas with the software and double checking our settings. We have used these for several years. The range can be up to a mile I would say...but sometimes if we are out of sight of each other, you can't hear the other person. Hope this helps for now!🤗💜

TommyG is right; the Sea-to-Sky needs a better factory installed sway bar, especially for the amount you pay to own that model of the Spyder. I upgraded mine three months after I got my 2022 Sea-to-Sky last year. Cheers PO3!

If I got a Spyder, it would have to be orange or lizard green! That was mighty kind of Tiffany to take you on a 50 mile test ride. I could definitely see you on a new Spyder Jody. Life is short, so sweet talk Tommy G into getting you a new one!

Love the video! It was so wonderful riding you you and Tommy G! Im glad the ride was able to work out the way it did with us three being at the end of the day so we had some extra time to hangout and talk about the vehicles a bit more than we usually would have (especially in the beautiful mountain side 🤗)

I have a 2011 RT-S 😂 My daughter and I did a ride experience last year and I ALMOST bought a new one😅 I'm pretty sure I will cave when I do another test ride.

Definitely fun, Jessica! Yes, we were doing that on purpose to see what it felt like with the standard sway bar...I used to feel like I was going to be tossed off when I had the standard sway bar while riding in the twisties. The stronger sway bar makes a huge difference!

This is the best way to see the new models and I'm glad you got to test ride an RT. I agree with you on the bad windshield as my experience I had the same issue on a Ryker. They REALLY need to improve that! Enjoyed the video and thanks for sharing!
This was our first experience and it was a BLAST! Yes, I'm glad I test rode the RT Sea to Sky...The F3 is still my baby, lol! When I look at the F3 LTD Special Series I think about the mods that need done to make it a long distance ride (windshield, sway bar, LED lighting, fog lights, fender lights) and all I see are $$$ signs.....
@@PurpleOnThree You are correct!!! The Spyder aint cheap!! I do like the way you sit in the bike on the F3 compared to the RT. To me that is a more comfortable position.

How is sitting on the RT Limited different from sitting into the F3 Limited
@donchavez9577 in my opinion, with the F3 you are sitting more down into the spyder... A cruiser position and with the RT you are sitting more on top of the Spyder. If you get the opportunity to sit on them, I think you will understand why I say that. 🤗

Hello, Tom!! You got it right! My Spyder is an F3 and that is the model I like the best! The RT's are nice too! Well, did they have the different model Spyders at the course? The course I took had several different kinds of Spyders...the RT's and the F3's. Have a great week!

As usual a very informative video, we always love how you an Tommy G interact. Glad you both got to do the Can Am Experience and test ride the new F3 and to see the sky RT. I have a 2022 F3Ltd which I love but I did get to try to see the sky and like Tommy says in the video I felt I was on top of it not in it. But it’s definitely very comfortable I love the floorboards, but I will stay with my F3. My wife took the experience and test rode the 2023 Can-Am Ryker sport which she loved and ended up buying one about a month later she now has over 4000 miles on her bike after 2 1/2 months of ownership. Can-Am does a wonderful thing with these test rides because it’s not just a short little around the block ride they actually take you for a decent ride so you can get to experience the machine.

I think Tommy G needs a spyder, yeah Harleys are nice but to relax and not have to worry about dumping a 50k bike on the ground . I think he may enjoy the ride more.

Well, I think the biggest thing is the seating position, the amount of plastic to be removed for working on your Spyder, adjustable windshield or not...and the seat itself in my opinion. Both have the same 1330 cc rotax engine and both are fun! Oh, also, the Sea to Sky has heated seats, and LED lighting, wind deflectors. But I would still take the F3! 😂🤗💜
The F3 Limited would definitely be my next go-to, but it would be an addition. I'd have to keep Carnage too!

I ride a 2012 Spyder RT Ltd. I find the shifting is always smooth when I change up - I let the bike manage the down shifting. I feel the 6 speed and bigger engine would be a smoother ride and also more fuel efficient. I've never had any issue with the windscreen - being electrically adjustable I can raise it if necessary to reduce buffeting but I usually ride with it at the lowest setting to give me good air flow. The RT is very comfortable for a long day touring. These machines are meant for touring on the open road. The sportier versions might also be good for the daily commute but these are definitely touring machines. I hope you enjoyed your test ride.
Thanks for your response! I usually let the Spyder do the downshifting but sometimes I want a little more power, so will downshift. Also, in the twisties I like the ability to downshift when going down the mountain. We sure did enjoy the test ride and hope to be somewhere to test ride the 2024 models this year! Before the test ride I was sure I could not possibly part with my 2018 F3 Limited...after the test ride I was thinking differently lol. So what kind of fuel economy do you get on your 2012? I average 34 miles per gallon on the F3 limited. I like the looks of the F3 but it is also amazing to tour with! Take care and have a great week!
The 2012 has a 25 litre tank and when I use 98 octane I think the best I can get is about 7.5 litres/100km that compares with at best 4.5litres/100km on my Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager a 1700 twin with a 6 speed full manual shift rather than the semi auto of the Spyder. I use cruise control whenever I can and I set it a 100km/h - the national highway speed in Australia is 110km/h. I hope you can do the metric conversions. I saw Coach Bob just did some fuel economy runs for a Spyder RT - I think he lives in Florida and was riding into Georgia (does that make sense?). Coach Bob is on YT. Thank you. I appreciate that information! I know who coach Bob is and was blessed to meet him in person. 🤗 And also his beautiful wife coach vic! I did a comparison video with eco mode and regular mode and did not find enough difference to warrant using eco mode. With the help of Google I did a little converting of your numbers and it appears to come out to 30 miles per gallon and that's a little less than my 1330 which averages 34 miles per gallon and I use 93 octane sometimes 91 octane when 93 is not available. Tommy g's Harley weighs about the same as my spyder but he averages around 42 miles per gallon. I rarely use cruise control on the syider or in the car 🤷♀️
Those figures sound about right. I feel the @@PurpleOnThree 1330 with the 6 speed transmission would produce better fuel economy. I don't think mine lacks anything in power but a 6th gear for highway cruising would have made for better fuel economy. The Spyder seems to rev at a much higher rate than the Kawasaki (and I assume the Harley). I was told once by the Ford Motor Company that driving at 100km/h using cruise control was the way to get the best fuel economy so I do that even on my bikes plus it allows me ot get the right hand off the bars for a while.

The F3s pretty good but they still can't beat the RT Limited for touring comfortably
Maybe my cannonball seat makes a difference 🤷♀️🤗 or the fact that I don't have to share my storage space with another rider, 😆😂 but I was pretty comfy for 26,000 miles last year. 💜💜💜 And for me, the seating position on the F3 is what I was used to, so that's probably why it works for me. 🤷♀️🤗 It's nice that we have choices to work for each of us 🤗🤗🤗 💜💜💜
You had me @ Can Am Experience.😃. I wanted to " do the experience " for a few Years now , but life alwaYs seems to have different dreams, than i do. So after watching the video three or four times, i decided to find " the experience " near me. In mY current location in S. E. Alabama, the closest experience is in Arkansas, about 450 miles awaY. And theY close @ 5 p.m. However I have found a couple of rYding classes within an hour from me. So, we'll see. Keeping the dream alive. BTW, NicelY Done, to the both of You. Great day riding new machines. I think that Tommy had fun too. Would you trade in yours to get a new one? Would they accept it? Sometimes dealerships can have their reasons. What is the entry model price in USA for a Can-Am? Great video. I like it.
Tommy definitely had fun... except when we drove by the HD dealer 😂. I would not trade in... TommyG wants it 😂. Price...starts $18,500 I believe.

I’d like to ride one to feel the differences. Tell Thomas if he buys one, I’ll give him my swaybar. I never installed it and it’s still new in the box lol. Also, have they improved the infotainment system?
That's awfully nice of you, RJ! When Tommy gets one, it will already have the sway bar installed, because he is getting mine when I'm ready for a newer model, lol. But, my newer (probably not NEW) model may need an upgraded sway bar, so if you still have it, I would be interested in buying it from you! Infotainment system...I can't really speak to the infotainment system as I don't really use it...lol 🤗💜

Sorry we missed you too! I have a dry bag for camping gear and a backpack for my clothes that sit on my back seat. Everything else is in my side bags, trunk and frunk. 🤗💜

But I did not...TommyG and I have been married almost 37 years and we have purcahsed two new vehicles and one new motorcycle that whole time...everything else is used...so I'm pretty sure my next Spyder will also be used...I mean it could be this model of course, just a year or two down the road!!
Still no apple car play... bummer. the entire info system needs a major upgrade. It would be nice to have a volt meter/oil temp/pressure and TPMS.

Why was the view so warped looking through the windshield on the F3 spyder? I would hate that. Did Tommy G also have to down shift the sea to sky for more torque??
Because that's the stock F3 windshield.... Yes, not a great view at all! I don't have the stock windshield on my 2018 F3. TommyG says not really on the downshifting ..he was trying to remember 😁
so obviously you have to buy another windshield for that problem. why would the windshield do that??@@PurpleOnThree
@rickmoore9840 well, I don't know but I do you know that yes, I would have to get a different windshield. My 2018 was the same way. I bought it used with 3600 miles and it had a taller Can-Am windshield. I took it off and rode it down the driveway with the stock windshield and decided that was not staying on there and put the taller windshield back on. 🤷♀️
