In a typical hospitals, how many MRI machines/Techs, CT machines/Techs, and X-ray Machines/Techs are there usually ? Do hospitals usually hire a lot of MRI/CT/X-ray techs - how many are usually on staff or Travel Tech Staff ?
Awesome video! Quick question, I am in my 3rd semester of cardiovascular sonography school, so is ultrasound considered to be under radiology even though we don’t use radiation? Ive always wondering this, because we are in the radiology department.

Hello, Juan. I really appreciate your video. It was quite helpful! I was wondering what you would recommend for individuals choosing between Rad tech and PTA. I am one semester away from graduating with a BS in health sciences. I'm not sure what path to choose. Would you recommend PTA over Rad tech or Rad tech over PTA based on your personal experience? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
How many times are you vomited/shit/peed on?? I just recently read about xray techs having to do enema's and it squirting out and all over the place -___- !!
Yo! Welcome 🙏🏽 Thank you for watching Please remember to: SUBSCRIBE, WATCH & LIKE 👍🏽 my videos it helps the channel reach more viewers who need this content 🙏🏽 Ok so put this into perspective I have been a tech for over 12 years & the places I have worked I have never had a bad BE exam. It all depends on where you decide to work. If you work at a hospital 🏥 there’s way more chances of that happening but if you work at an imaging center that will never happened because they don’t do that in outpatient centers. Hope this helped 🙏🏽
@ it’s very helpful! How often do you deal with the rest of the bodily fluids? The job seems really cool but I am nervous about the vomit blood ect (I didn’t think any of it aside from vomit) was involved.
That all depends where you work. Hospital 🏥 you make the most money but you see EVERYTHING 👀 OUTPATIENT IMAGING CENTERS you don’t see anything they are in & out easy.
I have a question it’s probably way off topic but I wanted to ask it in a recent video. I’m planning on doing rad tech this summer and was wondering what should I go over for anatomy? It’s been some time since I’ve taken it I know major parts of the body but should I focus on tiny specific names of bones and such? Also what systems? Strictly skeletal or should I go into all systems ? Thank you!
Hey 👋 Welcome 🙏🏽 Honestly I wouldn’t do anything just yet first get accepted into the program & then we worry about the rest. Relax you will do fine 🙏🏽 Don’t want you to overwhelm yourself 🙏🏽
@@juanmotiva8s959 thank you for the response! I have a good chance getting into a program that’s super far (I got in last year but personal reasons got in the way they even asked me to apply to their nursing program that’s how few people apply!). My thing is that I was pre-nursing out of high school, couldn’t get into any program even with experience and volunteer hours, so I got my bachelors in nutritional science and hated it. It’s been really long since I had anat and physio since 2015/2016. I would have until May to refreshen and would love to study on my own.
hey man, I.ve looked through your channel as an irish radiographer debating emigrating to vancouver. What's the annual salary because it'd do hard to find. and I.m already trained in CT so do I gotta take 1 exam for XR and another for CT? The information is minimal
Yo! Welcome & thank you for watching & supporting 🙏🏽 If you haven’t already please subscribe it helps the channel 🙏🏽 Ok so for Canada it says average salary is $73K year which is around $37hr. They don’t have ARRT like the 🇺🇸 You have to pass there ACMDTT EXAM (Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologist) Hope this helped my friend 🙏🏽
Are you going to go back to school to be a teacher or just plan on substituting? I was thinking the same i saw that at wgu you can get a bachelors degree faster than other universities
Do you ever experience any of the ongoing psychological trauma that nurses who are burnt out experience, like the ones who want to quit the profession ? Or, do you see yourself staying in the Radiology profession until retirement, even though you have your Barber gig on the side ?
Ahh good question: So to me I see myself staying for retirement while also experiencing different careers that always interested me. The cool thing about radiology is that you only have to work 3 days per week which means you have 4 days to follow your true passion 🙂
Hey, thanks for this video. Question, what are your thoughts on this career for someone with bad knees and can’t squat/kneel. Can squat but not the lowest some people can go. Thanks!
Hi Debby 👋 Welcome 🙏🏽 Thanks for watching Please remember to SUBSCRIBE & LIKE 👍🏽 my videos it helps the channel reach more people who need this content/help 🙏🏽 Ok so to be honest I don’t think that will be a big factor. Usually if you work outpatient center your patients will be what we call “Walkie Talkie” so they usually move on their own. If you work at the hospital you usually have help so you’re not alone. Hope this helped 🙏🏽
IF a patient comes to the Radiology dept. and already has an IV, but you have to use contrast to get an image, do you set up a 2nd IV, inject the contrast into the first IV, have a nurse handle an IV for contrast, or how does the contrast procedure actually work ?
Is it easier to work with the equipment/positioning, etc. and take images in X-ray, CT, or MRI ? Which modality is procedurally easier to get an image ?
Hi 👋 Welcome & please consider subscribing if you haven’t already 🙏🏽 Ok my friend so Rad Tech doesn’t transfer from any other country. Nursing (RN) does transfer I know weird but that’s the truth. Wish you the best 🙏🏽
Wait a minute you said that if a rad tech has to take time off for an injury or surgery they aren’t allowed to come back. So do rad techs not get PTO or vacation time? They have to work 365? PTO isn’t a part of the benefits if you are full time?
Yo! Welcome 🙏🏽 Thanks for watching Please remember to SUBSCRIBE, WATCH & LIKE 👍🏽 my videos it helps reach more people who need this content/information 🙏🏽 Ok so you might have misunderstood or I might have said it incorrectly so let me clarify it. So basically I was saying to have a backup plan just in case you do get hurt. Yes most hospitals have PTO, SICK TIME, VACATION TIME ect… but those take years to accumulate so what happens if you start a new job and in the second week you get hurt & can’t work 🤔 You haven’t been there long enough to have any benefits. Most places give you 2 weeks PTO per year. Also, no most hospitals don’t allow you to have light duty either especially in xray our jobs are very hands on and strenuous. Hope I clarified some things for you 🙏🏽
Ok yeah I think I misunderstood, I thought you meant if you get hurt they I’ll just fire you and you don’t get any pto. But you were just saying that it takes time to build up time off and if you get hurt and don’t have enough benefits you just can’t work until you’re fully back to normal. Thats makes more sense now. Thank you! 🙂
I like you because a lot of these channels have stockholm syndrome and sugarcoat the field. I am 23 and after not taking life seriously I am now looking for a solid career choice for an associates.

Hi. I like your videos. Question. I have a BMO license. Do you know if I qualify for CT tech school if so where should I go? I'm in FL. If I don't qualify what should I do. TY
Yo! Naw man won’t ever happen we do way way to much that AI won’t ever do. Plus if it does happen it would be in about 100 years we both won’t be here by then so….🤷🏽♂️ Get into it and make that bag 💰
Can you please do a video of taking X-rays during a surgery. I have watched a couple of videos of radiology technologists who specialize in surgery X-rays, and they were talking about all of the different nuances to being a surgery X-ray tech, having to take X-rays with a C arm while the surgeon is performing a surgery. They said that this kind of X - ray specialty is particularly stressful. What is it like taking X-rays during surgery, and how can you avoid having to do this, if you're not comfortable with the surgery environment ?
So it’s against HIPPA to make a video during surgery. The OR is very stressful but it’s doable. If you work at a hospital the only way you don’t do OR is if you work over night. But don’t be scared go into the OR you got this ‼️
Hello Juan I'm 49 years old and need an education I don't have kids and I'm not married I don't have to work but am interested in becoming an x ray tech. Am I too old ?

In a typical hospitals, how many MRI machines/Techs, CT machines/Techs, and X-ray Machines/Techs are there usually ? Do hospitals usually hire a lot of MRI/CT/X-ray techs - how many are usually on staff or Travel Tech Staff ?
It’s all
Varies depending on hospital size and needs.
What about Neuroradiology?
Hi Juan, I saw that you had a video up about IV Rad Techs, do you have any informatiom/videos about Cath Lab Techs?
Hi 👋

Ok so I haven’t make one yet but coming soon
Stay tuned 🙏🏽
Awesome video! Quick question, I am in my 3rd semester of cardiovascular sonography school, so is ultrasound considered to be under radiology even though we don’t use radiation? Ive always wondering this, because we are in the radiology department.
*wondered

Hello, Juan. I really appreciate your video. It was quite helpful! I was wondering what you would recommend for individuals choosing between Rad tech and PTA. I am one semester away from graduating with a BS in health sciences. I'm not sure what path to choose. Would you recommend PTA over Rad tech or Rad tech over PTA based on your personal experience? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so put this into perspective
I have been a tech for over 12 years & the places I have worked I have never had a bad BE exam.
Hospital 🏥 you make the most money but you see EVERYTHING 👀
OUTPATIENT IMAGING CENTERS you don’t see anything they are in & out easy.
@ ok so maybe outpatient will be best for me. Do you deal with death up close?
How important is it to go to a JRCERT program ? All private schools in my area arent JRCERT
Thank you!
Hey 👋
Welcome 🙏🏽
Honestly I wouldn’t do anything just yet first get accepted into the program & then we worry about the rest.
Relax you will do fine 🙏🏽
Don’t want you to overwhelm yourself 🙏🏽

Ok so for Canada it says average salary is $73K year which is around $37hr.
They don’t have ARRT like the 🇺🇸
You have to pass there ACMDTT EXAM (Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologist)
Hope this helped my friend 🙏🏽
Are you going to go back to school to be a teacher or just plan on substituting? I was thinking the same i saw that at wgu you can get a bachelors degree faster than other universities
Hi 👋
I am definitely thinking of getting certified as a teacher and plan to travel in the summer as a Radiology Technologist.
Best of both worlds 🙏🏽🙂
Do you ever experience any of the ongoing psychological trauma that nurses who are burnt out experience, like the ones who want to quit the profession ? Or, do you see yourself staying in the Radiology profession until retirement, even though you have your Barber gig on the side ?
Ahh good question:
So to me I see myself staying for retirement while also experiencing different careers that always interested me.
The cool thing about radiology is that you only have to work 3 days per week which means you have 4 days to follow your true passion 🙂
@@juanmotiva8s959
Nurses have the same schedule opportunity. Why not be a nurse? Isn't the schooling similar and just as long?
Hey, thanks for this video. Question, what are your thoughts on this career for someone with bad knees and can’t squat/kneel. Can squat but not the lowest some people can go. Thanks!

Ok so to be honest I don’t think that will be a big factor.
Usually if you work outpatient center your patients will be what we call “Walkie Talkie” so they usually move on their own.
If you work at the hospital you usually have help so you’re not alone.
Hope this helped 🙏🏽
@@juanmotiva8s959 thanks so much! Appreciate you!

@DebbyZ76 🙏🏽🙏🏽
IF a patient comes to the Radiology dept. and already has an IV, but you have to use contrast to get an image, do you set up a 2nd IV, inject the contrast into the first IV, have a nurse handle an IV for contrast, or how does the contrast procedure actually work ?
You use the IV that the patient already has & no nurses don’t handle contrast that’s the techs responsibility.
Is it easier to work with the equipment/positioning, etc. and take images in X-ray, CT, or MRI ? Which modality is procedurally easier to get an image ?
That all varies all modalities have their easy and hard views
Hi, Juan. I am a professional radtech in PH. How doI become a radtech in the u.s or in your state?any advice or tips that can help?thanks
Hi 👋
Welcome & please consider subscribing if you haven’t already 🙏🏽
Ok my friend so Rad Tech doesn’t transfer from any other country. Nursing (RN) does transfer I know weird but that’s the truth.
Wish you the best 🙏🏽
I’m trying to look for the video on your channel that talked about a free program or some type of programs I can’t remember if it was ct or x ray?
Hi sorry I didn’t read this on time but I’m glad you found it 🙏🏽🙂
Wait a minute you said that if a rad tech has to take time off for an injury or surgery they aren’t allowed to come back. So do rad techs not get PTO or vacation time? They have to work 365? PTO isn’t a part of the benefits if you are full time?
Yo!
Welcome 🙏🏽

Ok so you might have misunderstood or I might have said it incorrectly so let me clarify it.
So basically I was saying to have a backup plan just in case you do get hurt. Yes most hospitals have PTO, SICK TIME, VACATION TIME ect… but those take years to accumulate so what happens if you start a new job and in the second week you get hurt & can’t work 🤔
You haven’t been there long enough to have any benefits.
Thank you! 🙂
That actually brings up another question for me. How common is it for rad techs to get injured on the job? Do you have a video on the physical risks?
Yes sir & my pleasure 🙏🏽
Honestly it’s not common. They teach you in school to use proper body mechanics & team work.
99 % of the time you will be just fine.
I like you because a lot of these channels have stockholm syndrome and sugarcoat the field. I am 23 and after not taking life seriously I am now looking for a solid career choice for an associates.

Ok so 99% of the hospitals don’t care about tattoos so mostly likely if you have tattoos you will be ok.
At my current hospital 🏥 I see people with whole sleeve and neck tattoos im not saying that’s smart but I would stay away from tattoos ok your hand and stay neck down where you can cover them if need be.
Hope this helped 🙏🏽✊🏽

Ok so it’s never to late for a new career/challenge but this career is more physically demanding than it looks working at a hospital but if you work at an outpatient center were your patients are semi healthy & can walk most of the time than it’s definitely easier.
If your seriously thinking of a medical career look into laboratory technologist no hard labor you just run the blood in the machines.
Usually a 2 year degree as well.
Hope this helped 🙏🏽
Hola Juan!

You don’t have to be tall but yes we do have to move patients around so it is physically demanding.

Ok so unfortunately you don’t qualify being a BMO you must be a full licensed Radiologist Technologist in order to get certified in CT or MRI or anything at that.
Sorry but I hope this helped 🙏🏽
Ok so in order to qualify you much first go to Radiology Technologist school that’s a 2 year program.
I also live in Florida.

I want to be radiography but in my opinion general artificial intelligence will replace.
Naw man won’t ever happen we do way way to much that AI won’t ever do.
Plus if it does happen it would be in about 100 years we both won’t be here by then so….🤷🏽♂️
Get into it and make that bag 💰
