    The best and one of the most humble sportsmen I’ve ever seen, i don’t understand how anyone can hate this man, this man has brought joy to the vast majority of football fans on the planet since he started his career in 2004, a true artist/genius, the game will never be the same for me when he’s gone.

      So true... and what hurts me more is when we tell the younger generations how good Messi was they won't be able to buy it as much as we have seen and felt. It's somewhat like those funny moments or incidents that made you laugh your heart out but can't relate in words to others later, only those who were in that moment of joy and laughter could relate and understand...

    I’m so glad you recognized while being the greatest to play the game Messi is also the humblest man to play the game. My wife and I were so moved when he passed the captains band back to Yedlin. He cares more about the team than himself. He’s also building 500 brand new homes for homeless people in his hometown with schooling, libraries and healthcare included as well. That is from his own pocket.

    You mentioned David Beckham, thing with Beckham he was the most famous player on Earth for a bit, but was never the best in the world, although Messi isnt in his prime anymore, hes still up there, he's the real McCoy, and it's just nice to see him play with a smile on his face again, he clearly wasn't enjoying Paris (he was still upset that he had to leave Barca) where as him and his family actually wanted to be in Miami

      @michaelgriffiths7603 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beckham was never the most popular player in the world imo. In the 1990s it was R9. In the 2000s it was probably Ronaldinho until Messi, Cristiano arrived.
      Beckham was the most popular in the west at best due to his multiple commercial deals over there.

    • @mrmr5580
      @mrmr5580 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaelgriffiths7603 I said most famous, not most popular, his brand was everywhere, because he was England captain (nicknamed Goldenballs here in England), he also played for Man Utd and married a Spice Girl (both of which boosted his public image) you even had kids copying his various hairstyles at the time, man was a superstar public image wise

      @korganrocks3995 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrmr5580I agree. Ronaldo might have been more popular among football fans, but Beckham was a celebrity in a way few athletes are. Being better looking than Ronaldo and marrying a Spice Girl certainly helped, but it's also not as if he was a mediocre player; he was a world class right winger who also had a world class workrate, and might just be the best crosser of the ball we've ever seen. He didn't have the speed to be the best player in the world, but he was definitely good enough to get into a World XI for a solid decade, which is pretty damn impressive!

    He also lets his teammates take the penalty kicks during the game. If you watch other big name players in the sport you’ll see they go as far as talking their teammates into giving the penalty to them so they can add the goal to their total or get a hat trick… example Mbappe World Cup final. Watch as Mbappe demands the penalty from his teammate. Not for the team but so he can get a hat trick and highest number of goals in the World Cup. You always see players care about themselves more than the game being played. Messi always shows more interest in the team though. Even now he could be making more effort to score himself if he actually cared about the nonsense of Ronaldo vs Messi. But he always passes the ball or looks for the play nobody else can see. He’s trying to leave more than his personal achievements as his legacy by teaching his Inter Miami teammates how to play the game and be more efficient and effective on the pitch. He sees everything while people think he’s being lazy he’s actually scanning and learning what the other teams weaknesses are and how he can expose it. When he gets the ball he knows where everyone is on the pitch and has thought 4-5 moves ahead of everyone else.
    I’ve also never seen another player so effective at making free-kicks. He has it down to a science. Like a pitcher throwing a curve ball he makes the ball do things that don’t make sense.

If we count internationals too he ll top every individual stat besides goals which makes sense if you consider that he played pretty much midfielder in psg but despite him not having the most goals he still has the most goal contributions. If the ball hits the post and keeps on the field it means it's still playable by the same footballer that hits it before or by any other player on the field, but there is an exception to this and that's on the penalties that goes like this: on the penalties, the player that execute it can't hit the ball twice before any other player touches it, so it means that if the goalkeeper blocks the ball and it bounce to the player that execute the penalty he (the player that execute the penalty) can hit the ball again, but if the ball instead of being blocked by the goalkeeper hits the post it's considered not being touched by other player so the one that executed the penalty can't hit it again so that's why the other player runs so quickly to the area so they can catch the ball if it´s deflected by the goalkeeper or hits the post

Even the referee that the ball bounces off of into the goal, or the corner flag that stops the ball from rolling off the pitch. As long as the ball doesn't leave the pitch, the game goes on. Unless of course the ref stops the game.

    9:19 if it hits the post and come back to play zone area it’s still good, you can still play but if it’s hits the post and go out then it’s goal kick and goalkeeper most of time or sometimes one of defender get to start the ball.

    During penalty shootouts, you get one chance. Unless the goalies ' foot is outside the goal line, re shoot. Goalie has to keep foot on the line, new rule 🤷‍♂️. Watch the penalty shootout in WC with France

    This has nothing to do with soccer, but what do you think of Aaron rodgers injury yesterday? The change to artificial turf looks like is not good. They changed it for the World Cup.

    • @CoreyMcKinneyFC
      @CoreyMcKinneyFC  ปีที่แล้ว

      That Rodgers injury is devastating and somewhat tragically poetic given how bad the Jets' luck have been over the past 20 years or so. It's a tough loss given that Achilles injuries can even end one's career. Hate to see it man.

    No sportsmen in history in any sport made that kind impact in a sport like Messi. The truth is, americans think football is boring and Messi is no one near important. Ticket prices for Lionel Messi's U.S. debut reportedly as high as $110,000. If he wasn't so important people like LeBron and a ton of superstars wouldn't be lining up for an autograph. The tickets would reach $14,000, Shoe me one American athlete would boast of such a thing? 10,000% price increase for one ticket.
    The game vs Charlotte FC tickets was $25,000 (verified resale). $25,000 for a ticket. And Americans sayd he's not important ? Think again.

Just wanted to remind you that his name is pronounced "leo-nel", you said it differently at the start so just wanted to make sure you knew. (I know it makes no sense especially since he's named after lionel richie lol must be something to do with spanish idk)

    Messi is the greatest... but one interesting fact: If Messi wasnt in the MLS, the greatest player ever to play there would be Sergio Busquets and most of people arent even aware. Greatest number 5 of all time. Not your average player. Then you have Alba who is the greatest right back in spanish history. Messi is so big that nobody is noticing those two but they are two absolute monsters.

    • @korganrocks3995
      @korganrocks3995 ปีที่แล้ว

      Busquets is a great player, but like Pique it feels like he's been in decline for a good decade at this point. I'd say Henry is the greatest MLS player prior to Messi's arrival.

    Futbol will take over the top spot in america...one day say 2050. Cte will kill Am football. You already see kid glove QB calls, tackling a small tiny midsection of a player. It wont be football and as a society we are already steering kids away. O lineman hit their heads 1000s of times a year, d lineman etc. Futbol has less physicality but still enough to not have the same fate and still interest americans...

    • @CoreyMcKinneyFC
      @CoreyMcKinneyFC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree! I think futbol will certainly take the #2 spot in popularity of America, but I don’t ever see it taking the spot of American football! I’ve got a video going up soon of why I think that!
