Im not jealous im actually really happy for those kids! Imagine having a carbon Hardtail when you were a kid! That’s so cool! Props to you, Porter! Really cool how much you support them!
I like how he's teaching them right. He could obviously get his kids a full squish right away but a hardtail will teach them line choice and proper form.
You get it! Hardtails definitely make a better rider. I like to have them earn their bikes too with chores and stuff, so they really appreciate what they have!
Ok, I agree about the proper form, but the line choice thing I disagree with. I started on a really crappy specialized fuse 27.5 plus hardtail with a horrible SR Suntour spring fork that barely even worked and the most fun I could have on that thing was just barreling through the nastiest lines I could find. Now I have a Commencal meta am 27.5 and I do the exact same thing. It's just so fun. All in all, I think everyone should start on a hardtail just so that they can learn how to control the bike and how it should feel, but I feel like it really doesn't teach line choice that well.
Awesome bikes my friend. I totally agree on the Magura brakes, the best hydraulic brakes by far and MT8’s and MT7’s, even better. I need to do a family bike check someday.
This video has been most useful to me by helping me choose new parts for my first ever full bike build! Magura dropper and brakes are making an appearance, and quite possibly the fox 36!
Finallyyy, thanks so much porter. I have been waiting for this video for so long. Your kids are so talented and gifted. I like to see that none of you take it for granted, but yall deserve it. Cant wait for the next videos
Hey Eric. It's awesome to see a family who can enjoy the same hobby. You look like a great dad, many people in life can never experience that. Peace and love from Thailand!
I love that you're bringing your boys up on hardtails- that's how you learn control. Never thought about grip diameter, super Dad... Call me Welch's cause I'm so jelly.
I agree, they will be better riders because of it, and also appreciate full suspension more. Plus it keeps their bikes lighter for now which is important for kids. Yeah the 2.8 tires help a lot with traction and control as well.
Awesome video, great seeing all the bikes and gave me mild jealousy too!! Can't wait to see you all shredding Berm Peak, love the videos of you and Seth in the past, really looking forward to these new adventures!
So excited to see your next adventures ;) you & your wife are very blessed to have such kind young men. Doing a great job Mom & Dad. Boyz, hope you had a fantastic road trip ;)
What a way to start a video series.🙂🙏 Cant wait to see your guy's adventure out to the bike parks and trails. Seth is gonna be that cherry on top as well lol. Safe travels and much love everyone hope you all have a good one. 🙌💙
Eric, nice bike checks and nice changes/upgrades to all the bikes, bet the boys bike's get some jealous looks from other kids you meet on the trail. Can't wait to see all the vids from the trip and what you got up to at Berm Peak. Hearing you say that you're running Milo's 2.8" tyres at around 15 PSI though, that made me cringe, as that's about what I run my 2.8"s at and I'm 6'2" about 180-185lbs geared to ride, definitely think you can drop those pressures under 15 PSi, probably closer to 10-12 PSI for his weight.
Thanks! On the pressure, it definitely depends on what casing the tire has. Milo’s are pretty light and thin, so 15 works pretty good, and even at that he’s still pinch flatted the tire a couple times when going fast! If I went to a thicker casing it would be heavier for him for handling and for climbing, so this is the best balance I could find.
Yup, was just thinking I should probably caveat that by saying depending on what tyres, casing and rim width you run. Also, the pressure gauge you use could read different than mine and I might be running higher or you lower than we think, important thing is we use the same one every time and have consistent readings - FYI I use a Topeak Smartgauge. My experience is with Maxxis Rekon 650Bx2.8" 3C EXO, which is a 120TPI casing and the Schwalbe Nobby Nic 650Bx2.8" Speedgrip, EXO TLR casing and I run 35mm IW or wider rims. I'vce had some ring dings/hits, but only ever 1 caused a flat and that was on a 29x3" CST Proto tyre, all my other Maxxis tyres have taken the hits like champs and they are a fairly decent weight. These are run on steel rigid or alu HTs. BTW, couldn't find any 2.8" version of that tyre, only saw 2.6" or are those early release version? ;-)
Excellent video, though I have one suggestion. In the video description, would be great if you listed how much each upgrade cost approximately, to give the less knowledgeable to mountain biking an idea of how reachable a goal it would be to upgrade their own bikes with similar products.
Awww that's such a motivation, thank you man, I'm in secondary school too, and you just motivated me to study hard now..😭🙏 thank you so much for such a heart warming comment...
Owen n Milo are gonna make a tremendous buddy cop youtube channel when they're older, Milo trying to be serious and review products while Owen sets up pranks on camera.
In the video you mention your youngest that's on the Sync'r 24 is "4 ft tall". Its hard to find nice 20" hardtails out there that are good so I was wondering if you had more accurate measurement. We are just under 48" right now but size chart on site says 53"
How tall is Milo I'm looking to get a syncr for my 10 year old. You can't find one in stock anywhere so I'm going to have to order one when diamondback has some available and hope it fits. Thanks Eric
This is kinda off topic but i just had the BEST orange ive ever eaten
